Empowering patients with RA to self manage the disease can lead to changes in behaviour, pain or physical health and psychosocial health status. Limited evidence exists for the efficacy of comprehensive Occupational Therapy (OT) intervention for patients with RA in improving functional ability. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of comprehensive OT intervention on patients with RA in producing a sustained improvement in patients' functional ability. It was found that a comprehensive in-patient occupational therapy programme does lead to sustained significant improvement in functional ability and Health related quality of life (HR-QOL). Focus groups and home based intervention appears to have a clinically significant impact on disease activity.

The impetus for this book came from a recognition of the increasing importance of HRQOL assessments in the evaluation of treatment outcomes and the need to increase the utilization of HRQOL assessments in research and clinical applications with a range of pediatric populations. The need to develop a volume that describes new research and clinical applications concerning this topic stemmed from several recent developments. There is a continuing need for evaluations of the efficacy of medical treatments for children and adolescents, including those with chronic health conditions. To address these critical unmet needs in the field of HRQOL assessment, and to advance scientific methods and clinical applications in this field, a conference was held at Case Western Reserve University. The conference set out to summarize current information concerning the development and implementation of measures of HRQOL assessment, to identify and consider key conceptual and methodological issues in research concerning the measurement of HRQOL, and to recommend priorities to advance the state-of-the-art in research and clinical applications of QOL assessment in children and adolescents with chronic health conditions. This volume summarizes and synthesizes the information that was presented by the conference participants in a series of lively discussions and chapters that were based on the presentations.

To receive SSDI or SSI disability benefits, an individual must meet the statutory definition of disability, which is "the inability to engage in any substantial gainful activity [SGA] by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or which has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months." SSA uses a five-step sequential process to determine whether an adult applicant meets this definition. Functional Assessment for Adults with Disabilities examines ways to collect information about an individual's physical and mental (cognitive and noncognitive) functional abilities relevant to work requirements. This report discusses the types of information that support findings of limitations in functional abilities relevant to work requirements, and provides findings and conclusions regarding the collection of information and assessment of functional abilities relevant to work requirements.

Despite of multidimensional nature of chronic pain, the contribution of psychological and social factors in pain management is overlooked and is rarely explored by conducting the empirical research studies. Rheumatoid arthritis is one of the serious causes of chronic pain in the world with higher prevalence rate mainly among women. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease with unknown causes which is characterized by joint stiffness, severe joint pain. There is no permanent cure for RA at present and is currently managed by mainly using pharmacological treatment. RA has significant impact on an individual's capacity to perform basic daily living activities, professional duties and family responsibilities which ultimately affects mental health of an individual. Depression and anxiety are major mental health concerns among RA patients which are found to be linked with several psychological aspects of an individual. Therefore, considering the role of psychological factors in maintaining wellbeing of an individual with RA, the present research aims to study the effect of pain acceptance and active coping on health-related quality of life and functional status among women with RA. Present study was conducted on the sample of 175 women patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis seeking treatment from two private Rheumatology clinics in Pune. The data for the present study was collected by using purposive sampling method. Mixed method research design was implemented in the present study, wherein first quantitative data was obtained by administering the standardized tools and the qualitative data was collected through in-depth interviews and the participants' responses on open-ended question mentioned in personal information form. The tools for obtaining quantitative data included Chronic Pain Acceptance Questionnaire (CPAQ), Vanderbilt Pain Management Inventory (VPMI), Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) and WHO Quality of life-BREF. Obtained quantitative data was statistically analysed with the help of SPSS Ver.22 by conducting Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis, ChiSquare test of association and simple linear regression analysis to investigate the relationship between pain acceptance and active coping with health-related quality of

Disabled workers might receive either SSDI benefits or SSI payments, or both, depending on their recent work history and current income and assets. Disabled workers might also receive benefits from other public programs such as workers' compensation, which insures against work-related illness or injuries occurring on the job, but those other programs have their own definitions and eligibility criteria. Of particular importance was an examination of various viewpoints concerned with ethical questions and their implications, and quality oflife from industry, regulatory and health care purchasers' perspectives.
