Book Synopsis No More Faking Fine by : Esther Fleece Allen
Download or read book No More Faking Fine written by Esther Fleece Allen and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2017-01-10 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scripture reveals a God who meets us where we are, not where we pretend to be. No More Faking Fine is your invitation to get honest with God through the life-giving language of lament. If you've ever been given empty clichés during challenging times, you know how painful it is to be misunderstood by well-meaning people. When life hurts, we often feel pressure--from others and ourselves--to keep it together, suck it up, or pray it away. But Scripture reveals a God who lovingly invites us to give honest voice to our emotions when life hits hard. For most of her life, Esther Fleece Allen believed she could bypass the painful emotions of her broken past by shutting them down altogether. She was known as an achiever and an overcomer on the fast track to success. But in silencing her pain, she robbed herself of the opportunity to be healed. Maybe you've done the same. Esther's journey into healing began when she discovered that God has given us a real-world way to deal with raw emotions and an alternative to the coping mechanisms that end up causing more pain. It's called lament--the gut-level, honest prayer that God never ignores, never silences, and never wastes. No More Faking Fine is your permission to lament, taking you on a journey down the unexpected pathway to true intimacy with God. Drawing from careful biblical study and hard-won insight, Esther reveals how to use God's own language to come closer to him as he leads us through our pain to the light on the other side, teaching you that: We are robbing ourselves of a divine mystery and a divine intimacy when we pretend to have it all together God does not expect us to be perfect; instead, he meets us where we are There is hope beyond your heartache, disappointment, and grief Like Esther, you'll soon find that when one person stops faking fine, it gives everyone else permission to do the same.

Download or read book He So Loved written by Terry Lawrence and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2010-05-06 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He So Loved, by Terry Lawrence, is a heartfelt compilation of poems of inspiration and encouragement, and is a sequel to his successful 2009 book, On the Wings of a Dove. The obvious theme of this book stems from John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” Within the silence of our minds rests a stillness that serves as a protective barrier against the troubles and worries we face every day. It’s an area deep within our soul where we so oft en retreat to when problems become oppressive. It’s our internal safeguard of solace where escapes can be free of pain and comfort an easing solution to life’s parameters. But these escapes can only be a temporary remedy away from the anxieties of life because without an unfeigned commitment to the Heavenly Father, eluding life’s trials can never bring about the peace and joy we so fervently seek. So oft en through life we tend to believe that we are invincible, that we are strong, or that we are capable of survival of any circumstance. However, in essence, we are vulnerable, we are weak, and we are consumed with defeat without the power of God within our soul and within our heart. His power is strength. It is indestructible. Impregnable. Unchallenged. And absolutely nothing in this world, or the evil spirits that permeate and surround our existence, can ever compete with the power of the Heavenly Father. He provides to us His strength, His wisdom, and His fortitude to combat any adverse situation that may confront us along our path of life on this earth. Our belief and faith in Him are the only things required from us to experience peace and joy on the short road of life on earth, while our reward is to live life in His Kingdom forever and forever, as so simply stated in John 3:16. Expressing himself through his poems, Terry’s joy is derived from the intent of inspiring others, touching their heart, bringing them some inspiration or encouragement in troubling times, or providing a glimpse of the Guiding Light that reflects the power and the glory of the Heavenly Father. In 2008, Terry published his first book, Journey of Life, followed by his second and third books, The Right Path Taken and On the Wings of a Dove in 2009. He is a member of the Academy of American Poets, the Washington Poets Association, the Oregon Poets Association, the Arizona Authors Association, the Poetry Society of America, and the Poetry Society of London.
Download or read book Radical written by David Platt and published by Multnomah. This book was released on 2010-05-04 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Times bestseller What is Jesus worth to you? It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily... But who do you know who lives like that? Do you? In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus. Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment -- a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.

A strong choice for independent reading, both for summer reading and homeschooling, as well as in the classroom, Jacob Have I Loved has been lauded as a cornerstone young adult novel and was ranked among the all-time best children's novels in a survey published by School Library Journal. "Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated . . ." With her grandmother's taunt, Louise knew that she, like the biblical Esau, was the despised elder twin. Caroline, her selfish younger sister, was the one everyone loved. Growing up on a tiny Chesapeake Bay island, angry Louise reveals how Caroline has robbed her of everything: her hopes for schooling, her friends, her mother, even her name. While everyone pampers Caroline, Wheeze (her sister's name for her) begins to learn the ways of the watermen and the secrets of the island, especially of old Captain Wallace, who has mysteriously returned after fifty years. The war unexpectedly gives this independent girl a chance to fulfill her dream to work on the water alongside her father. But the dream does not satisfy the woman she is becoming. Alone and unsure, Louise begins to fight her way to a place for herself outside her sister's shadow. But in order to do that, she must first figure out who she is...

Book Synopsis When God Says Go He Is Saying Come with Me by : Cesar Ochoa
Download or read book When God Says Go He Is Saying Come with Me written by Cesar Ochoa and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2021-10-11 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the statement, "God moves in mysterious ways", is not a biblical statement, He really does move in mysterious ways! My stories will demonstrate how God truly does use the weak and foolish to confound the strong and the wise. He can't get more mysterious than that. You'll see God willing to and capable of using anyone. In Scripture, "when God says "Go," He is putting out an invitation to "Come with Me". Although I have come short of always doing the right thing, and have been far from perfect, both physically and spiritually, I determined to still chose to follow God regardless. Although I purposed to exercise great faith and attempted a close walk with God, I did not always trust God. I didn't always treat my wife in a way pleasing to God. My methods and priorities were not always correct. Despite all my "tonterias", God still chooses to use me. These stories are rich examples of God's love, mercy, forgiveness and power. My goal is that they provide hope and inspiration. These stories will give you a clear view of the "hand of God" moving behind the scenes. You'll learn to trust God even though outward circumstances dictate otherwise. You'll see how God uses what appears to be a hopeless life to actually advance His Kingdom. Be encouraged...He desires to use yours to do the same. Shalom I was born in Bisbee, AZ, and enlisted in US Navy 1972 as an Airman for six years. I married my High School sweet-heart, Gloria in San Diego, CA in 1972 and we are still married today, residing in Sierra Vista, AZ since 2016. We were blessed with three sons-Adam, Jason and Elijah. All three married, and we now have eight grandchildren between the three of them! I graduated from Berean Bible College, San Diego, CA in 1982, and Pastored/Assistant-Pastored off and on from 1982-2012. I have been active in fifteen "Short Missions Trips" to South and Central America; Africa; Romania; and Mexico. I have been a Christian for forty-three years with many failures under my belt. Currently I am attending Shiloh Christian Ministries with Senior pastors Erick and Raquel Villalvazo as our pastors and covering from 2016 to present. At the present, I am in the school of learning obedience, God's mercy, forgiveness and power. I have a strong desire to share my Journey with anyone that can relate with my story, so that they can be inspired, encouraged and be determined to get up when knocked down, to serve our LORD with vision and purpose.
