Beide Texte stellen die Ergebnisse dieser Befragung vor und geben Ansätze zur Nutzung dieser Ergebnisse. Im Folgenden werden vorerst die beiden Texte dargestellt, indem auch die Ergebnisse dieser genannten Befragung erläutert werden. Anschließend erfolgt ein Fazit, in dem die Texte reflektiert werden, prägnante Aspekte herausgegriffen werden und weitere Überlegungen angestellt werden. Das grundlegende Problem im Bezug auf die Kinder und Jugendlichen im Kontext von häuslicher Gewalt ist, dass sie in den seltensten Fällen selbst zu Wort komme. Jedoch kann man sicher sein, dass es sich hier um wichtige bisher unbekannte Informationen handelt, die bezüglich der Intervention mehr als hilfreich sein könnten.

Sie erzählt von ihrer immer wiederkehrenden Angst: „... also ich fühlte mich zu schwach, weil immer wenn ich daran denke, habe ich immer angefangen zu weinen, dann war alles wieder da, die Angst im Bauch und so ... und ich hatte halt in der Schule auch Angst, hab ich dann wieder alles falsch gemacht oder ich hab immer so gezittert oder so was halt ... und am Abend, da konnte ich nie schlafen, da hatte ich immer Alpträume, ... von anderen Männern, die Kinder stehlen ... oder schlagen, ... und von Gespenstern: ... das kam eh immer vom Vater“ (Strasser, 2006, S.56). Erfahrungen mit Gewalt in der Familie, wie sie Amela gemacht hat, kommen heutzutage öfters vor, als man meinen möchte. Immer häufiger werden hauptsächlich Frauen und Kinder geschlagen und missbraucht. Aber das Thema der häuslichen Gewalt war, ist und wird ein heikles Thema bleiben, ein Tabu-Thema, vor dem die Gesellschaft bis vor Kurzem am liebsten die Augen verschlossen hätte, da es sich für sie eher um ein privates als um ein öffentliches Problem handelte. Tatsächlich hat sich das Thema „Gewalt in der Familie“ erst im 20. Jahrhundert „von einer privaten Frage, ..., zu einem sozialen Problem [gewandelt], das verstärkt in den Blickpunkt der Fachwelt, der Öffentlichkeit und der Politik geriet“ (Gelles, 2002, S.1043). Was man nun konkret unter häuslicher Gewalt versteht und welche Auswirkungen diese speziell auf Kinder hat, soll im Folgenden gezeigt werden. Neben den Konsequenzen der häuslichen Gewalt sollen auch Interventions- bzw. Therapieformen angesprochen werden, die den Kindern eine Möglichkeit bieten können, mit ihrem Erlebten fertig zu werden.

Three fields of inquiry come to mind: (1) Questions about the scientific status of psychopatho logical statements and claims, (2) ethical questions, and (3) problems regarding the question of how to account for something like a disordered mind. While the first two domains have frequently been addressed in articles and debates (think of the mind-body problem and the problem of institutionalization versus self-determination as examples of issues in the two fields), the question of how the mind should be conceived in order for psychopathology to work best has seldom been discussed. The present volume focuses on this question. Perception, thought, affect, will, and the like are terms which made their way from philosophy into psychology, and into present psychiatry, where disturbances of these "faculties" or "functions" are believed to form the most basic part of symptomatology. While these terms and many others that are used to refer to symptoms of mental disorder (such as "self', "consciousness", "drive", and "identity") may seem to be purely descriptive and theoretically "innocent", they are packed with implicit assumptions, theoretical concepts, and sometimes dogmatic postulates.

The authors of this collection seek to fill that gap in the ethnographic record by drawing attention to the deep historical attachments of island communities to rivers, and the ways in which those attachments are changing in response to various forms of economic development and social change. In addition to making a unique contribution to Pacific island ethnography, the authors of this volume speak to a global set of issues of immense importance to a world in which water scarcity, conflict, pollution and the degradation of riparian environments afflict growing numbers of people. Several authors take a political ecology approach to their topic, but the emphasis here is less on hydro-politics than on the cultural meaning of rivers to the communities we describe.
