He arrived in New England before February 1638/9 and settled at Braintree, Massachusetts. His known son, John Hathway (1629-1705), was probably born in England. He and his first wife, Martha, were married ca. 1649. They had six children, 1650-1669. He married 2) Ruth, widow of Christopher Dyer, in 1692 at Braintree. John Hathway probably died at Taunton, Massachusetts. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, Kentucky, Ohio, New Jersey, Indiana, Illinois, New York, California and elsewhere. The surname is spelled Hathaway, Hatheway Hathway and other variant spellings.
