Both petroleum and natural gas are among the great industrial resources of the world and the countries which possess them in large quantities are exceedingly fortunate. The fact that these substances have not yet been developed in a particular locality is rarely proof of their absence, as no year passes without the discovery of new and often unsuspected fields or pools.
