Book Synopsis An Essential Guide to Thermal Conductivity by : Sohel Murshed
Download or read book An Essential Guide to Thermal Conductivity written by Sohel Murshed and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2021-11-10 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Thermal conductivity is one of the main properties of any materials as it plays a key role for their use in a wide range of essential applications. This book covers fundamentals of thermal conductivity, its measurements, mechanisms, and modeling for different important materials from multiphase systems and ceramic materials to emerging fluids like ionic liquids and suspensions of nanoparticles known as nanofluids. Despite being a popular topic under rapid evolution, knowledge on thermal conductivity of nanofluids is far from being mature. Besides discussion on various mechanisms and modeling, this book presents experimental findings related to the impact of various parameters on the thermal conductivity of these new fluids. It includes thermal conductivity of ionanocolloids which is a new type of nanofluids. The book is aimed to serve as a guide to research, education, and industries in the fields of heat transfer and exchange, cooling, and other thermal management"--

This book was released on 2014-06-23 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The minimum temperature in the natural universe is 2.7 K. Laboratory refrigerators can reach temperatures in the microkelvin range. Modern industrial refrigerators cool foods at 200 K, whereas space mission payloads must be capable of working at temperatures as low as 20 K. Superconducting magnets used for NMR work at 4.2 K. Hence the properties of materials must be accurately known also at cryogenic temperatures. This book provides a guide for engineers, physicists, chemists, technicians who wish to approach the field of low-temperature material properties. The focus is on the thermal properties and a large spectrum of experimental cases is reported. The book presents updated tables of low-temperature data on materials and a thorough bibliography supplements any further research. Book Synopsis Handbook of Terrestrial Heat-Flow Density Determination by : R. Haenel
Download or read book Handbook of Terrestrial Heat-Flow Density Determination written by R. Haenel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There comes a time in the affairs of every organization when we have to sit down and take stock of where we are and where we want to go. When the International Heat Flow Committee (as it was first called), IHFC, was formed in 1963 at the San Francisco International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics with Francis Birch as its first Chairman, the principal purpose was to stimulate work in the basic aspects of geothermics, particularly the measurement of terrestrial heat-flow density (HFD) in what were then the 'geothermally underdeveloped' areas of the world. In this, the IHFC was remarkably successful. By the beginning of the second decade of our existence, interest in the economic aspects of geothermics was increasing at a rapid pace and the IHFC served as a conduit for all aspects of geothermics and, moreover, became the group responsi ble for collecting data on all types of HFD measurements. In all the tasks that are undertaken, the IHFC relies on the enthusiasm of its members and colleagues who devote much of their time to the important but unglamorous and personally unrewarding tasks that were asked of them, and we arc fortunate that our parent institutions are usually quite tolerant of the time spent by their employees on IHFC work.
