Book excerpt: We report on the effect of the deposition temperature of SrTiO3 on the dielectric properties of SrTiO3/YBa2Cu3O(7-delta)/LaAlO3 thin film multilayer structures. In these structures, the YBa2Cu3O(7-delta) a (YBCO) films were deposited at 800 C by laser ablation, followed by the in-situ deposition of the SrTiO3 (STO) layer at one of the following temperatures: 750 C, 650 C, 550 C, 450 C, 350 C, and 250 C. Gold (Au) films were deposited and patterned on top of the STO layer to form planar Au/STO/YBCO capacitor structures. The electrical response was studied by measuring the dielectric constant (epsilon (sub r)) and loss tangent (tan delta) of the ferroelectric film from 300-40 K, at 1.0 MHz, and at electric fields up to 100 kV/cm. Our results show 750 C to be a deposition temperature which allows for large variations of epsilon(sub r) with limited enhancement of tan delta, while lower deposition temperatures cause a reduction of the induced change in epsilon(sub r) and an increase in tan delta with applied field.

This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present work is devoted to the experimental study of the MI transition in V2O3 thin films, grown on different substrates. The main goal of the work was to develop a technology of growth of V2O3 thin films on substrates with different electrical and structural properties (diamond and LiNbO3), designed for specific applications. The structural and electrical properties of the obtained films were characterized in detail with a special focus on their potential applications. The MIT of V2O3 was investigated by SAW using first directly deposited V2O3 thin film onto a LiNbO3 substrate.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This conference is the second on the Science and Technology of Thin Film Superconductors. It proved to be an excellent forum for these specialists in thin film superconductivity. The conference, held April 30-May 4, 1990, in Denver, Colorado, hosted 170 researchers from 17 countries. The response to the conference again emphasized the need for a meeting devoted to the science and technology of thin film superconductors. The breadth of artic1es and advances made in this technology since the first conference in November 1988, reflect on the maturity of the topic. These proceedings contain artic1es on deposition methods by sputtering, e1ectron beam evaporation, resistive evaporation, laser ablation, chemical vapor deposition and electrodeposition, and on other studies related to substrates, thermodynamics of formation, grain boundaries and weak links, characterization, and some practical applications. The program committee was pleased with the quality of the publications and contributed articles. This conference was highlighted by a fuU day dedicated to presentations from the federallaboratories, discussing a wide range of topics on the fabrication, characterization, and theory of high-temperature superconductor thin films. Other highlights at the conference dealt with (1) critical parameters or problems in measuring critical current density and other important parameters, and (2) problems of scale-up, reproducibility, and amenability to device fabrication. It became evident from the presentations that three issues were developing into critical issues for the ultimate practical application of high temperature superconductor thin films.

Download or read book Nanostructured Metal Oxides and Devices written by M. K. Jayaraj and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-04-16 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book primarily covers the fundamental science, synthesis, characterization, optoelectronic properties, and applications of metal oxide nanomaterials. It discusses the basic aspects of synthetic procedures and fabrication technologies, explains the related experimental techniques and also elaborates on the current status of nanostructured oxide materials and related devices. Two major aspects of metal oxide nanostructures – their optical and electrical properties – are described in detail. The first five chapters focus on the optical characteristics of semiconducting materials, especially metal oxides at the nanoscale. The following five chapters discuss the electrical properties observed in metal oxide-based semiconductors and the status quo of device-level developments in a variety of applications such as sensors, transistors, dilute magnetic semiconductors, and dielectric materials. The basic science and mechanism behind the optoelectronic phenomena are explained in detail, to aid readers interested in the structure–property symbiosis in semiconducting nanomaterials. In short, the book offers a valuable reference guide for researchers and academics in the areas of material science and semiconductor technology, especially nanophotonics and electronics.

This book was released on 2005-11-21 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oxides form a broad subject area of research and technology development which encompasses different disciplines such as materials science, solid state chemistry, physics etc. The aim of this book is to demonstrate the interplay of these fields and to provide an introduction to the techniques and methodologies involving film growth, characterization and device processing. The literature in this field is thus fairly scattered in different research journals covering one or the other aspect of the specific activity. This situation calls for a book that will consolidate this information and thus enable a beginner as well as an expert to get an overall perspective of the field, its foundations, and its projected progress.
