Book excerpt: Do you want to have confident faith in God? Are you skeptical of the belief that God is real? Or did you grow up hearing that God was real but now you find yourself doubting? This book will give you a simple and visual guide to overcoming doubts and strengthening your confidence in God so you can live boldly knowing what you believe and why you believe it. 90% of people in America believe that there is a God or at least a "higher power," yet only a little over a quarter of people say they believe God is in control of their life all the time. In other words, almost everyone knows there's something or someone out there, and some of us even call Him God, but very few people actually trust and live confidently connected to the one true loving God. That's a serious problem, and it's exactly why most of us experience a chaotic internal existence with little to no genuine peace. I grew up in church, but I never knew what I truly believed and why, so I spent roughly 15 years doubting God's existence. But when my wife and I had our first child, one thought kept me up at night: What am I going to say when this kid grows up and asks me if God is real? For the next few years, I researched everything I could about whether or not God was real. What I learned during that time forever changed my life and strengthened my faith. In this book, I'll simplify and share what I found so you can confidently know the love of your Creator. Whether you're religious, spiritual, or completely without faith in God, you'll see evidence in this book that serves as the foundation for grounded faith in the loving God - the kind of confidence that can and will change your life.
Book Synopsis Grounded in the Faith by : Ken Erisman
Download or read book Grounded in the Faith written by Ken Erisman and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2013-07-15 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The greatest challenge for the twenty-first-century church is the lack of catechesis--training in biblical and doctrinal knowledge. As J. I. Packer states, "where wise catechesis has flourished the church has flourished, and where it has been neglected the church has floundered." It is increasingly apparent that we are raising up generations of Christians who often have little idea what they should believe and why they should believe it. Grounded in the Faith takes up that challenge with twenty-four low-prep, in-depth sessions that will ground believers in the basics of their faith. This new innovative guide is a transformational disciple-making tool that leaders can immediately use to activate discipleship in the church. It presents individuals, small groups, and Sunday school classes with a cohesive understanding of historic, sound, biblical theology that serves as a catalyst for deeper intimacy with Christ. It is a user-friendly guide to growth in the Christian faith that covers important topics such as justification, overcoming temptation, sanctification, evidence for the inspiration of the Bible, the value of prayer, the guidance of God, the Trinity, the uniqueness of Christ, and the attributes of God.

Book Synopsis A Practical Discipleship Model That Fosters Spiritual Maturity by : Owar Ojha Ojulu

This book was released on 2023-11-09 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus challenges us to live in him and continue living out the truth so that we claim our allegiance to Christ and live as disciples free from fear and from cultural customs that contradict the gospel message. This project has found that the lack of discipleship training among the Anyuwaa churches has resulted in a lack of understanding of what this ministry entails—teaching and making disciples. In addition, failure to embed elements of the Anyuwaa culture into the discipleship approach, and the persistence of certain elements of Anyuwaa life that run counter to gospel beliefs, has inflamed this crisis. Therefore, this book presents a call for the church to challenge the culture of syncretism and the fear of witchdoctors, to shift its paradigm and begin interpreting the gospel message, utilizing contextual elements but interpreting them through the lens of the gospel, calling people to embrace gospel values within their own cultural context. When we start interpreting strong cultural beliefs and traditions through the truth of the gospel, it is proof that we have come to the best discipleship approach, as we speak the truth of the gospel in the life our church and the hearts of our believers.

Book Synopsis The Philosophy of Trust by : Paul Faulkner
Download or read book The Philosophy of Trust written by Paul Faulkner and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-02-23 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trust is central to our social lives. We know by trusting what others tell us. We act on that basis, and on the basis of trust in their promises and implicit commitments. So trust underpins both epistemic and practical cooperation and is key to philosophical debates on the conditions of its possibility. It is difficult to overstate the significance of these issues. On the practical side, discussions of cooperation address what makes society possible-of how it is that life is not a Hobbesian war of all against all. On the epistemic side, discussions of cooperation address what makes the pooling of knowledge possible-and so the edifice that is science. But trust is not merely central to our lives instrumentally; trusting relations are themselves of great value, and in trusting others, we realise distinctive forms of value. What are these forms of value, and how is trust central to our lives? These questions are explored and developed in this volume, which collects fifteen new essays on the philosophy of trust. They develop and extend existing philosophical discussion of trust and will provide a reference point for future work on trust.
