Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Slow-burn historical women’s fiction with a splash of romance—think: the love child of books like Bridgerton mixed with Pirates of the Caribbean. GRACE ARISING is the third full-length novel in The White Sails Series. The burgeoning 1840s New Holland wool market is irresistible to entrepreneurial souls prepared to brave the open oceans. Having survived unimaginable tragedy together, Grace and Seamus Fitzwilliam plan a fresh start aboard their new ship, Elias. Lucius Chittenden, the new first mate, comes highly-recommended, and with the return of the trusted crew, the journey promises smooth sailing. The Elias is bursting with goods for the colony as well as shepherds for Gilly Downs, but it is not long before a theft is discovered, souring the mood aboard. While Chittenden’s demand for expedience guarantees blistering speeds, it comes at a cost to the men’s morale, and sets Seamus and Grace at loggerheads. Seamus believes the officer pragmatic, Grace believes him cruel. When Chittenden’s cavalier attitude results in him shooting Seamus, Grace has Chittenden chained to the hold. With Seamus gravely injured, she assumes command of the Elias, taking responsibility for seeing her crew and family to safety. The demands of navigating a tall ship across stormy seas, while trying to keep Seamus alive and managing her children, sees Grace bowed by duty. Sheer grit keeps her at the helm, affecting an air of steadfastness and complete control—but do the sailors see this in her? And will she make it to New Holland in time to save Seamus’s life? Be prepared to be swept away from the smoggy skies of London, across the roiling Indian Ocean, and returned to beloved Gilly Downs in New South Wales as GRACE ARISING delivers more romantic, historical adventure, sea stories. The White Sails Series complete collection box set features one sassy heroine aboard a ship full of sailors. Prepare for historical romance full of strong alpha males with a trace of vulnerability, superstitious sailors, epic sea adventures that take you from the cobbled streets of London to a tall ship setting, and ultimately a happy ending. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Slow-burn historical women’s fiction with a splash of romance—think: the love child of books like Bridgerton mixed with Pirates of the Caribbean. As the first full-length novel in The White Sails Series, DISCERNING GRACE captures the spirit of an independent woman whose feminine lens blows the ordered patriarchal decks of a 19th century tall ship to smithereens. Wilful Grace Baxter, will not marry old Lord Silverton with his salivary incontinence and dead-mouse stink. Discovering she is a pawn in an arrangement between slobbery Silverton and her calculating father, Grace is devastated when Silverton reveals his true callous nature. Refusing this fate, Grace resolves to stow away. Heading to the docks, disguised as a lad to ease her escape, she encounters smooth-talking naval recruiter, Gilly, who lures her aboard HMS Discerning with promises of freedom and exploration in South America. When Grace's big mouth lands her bare-bottomed over a cannon for insubordination, her identity is exposed. The captain wants her back in London but his orders, to chart the icy archipelago of Tierra del Fuego, forbid it. Lieutenant Seamus Fitzwilliam gallantly offers to take Grace off the fretting captain's hands by placing her under his protection. Grace must now win over the crew she betrayed with her secret, while managing her feelings towards her taciturn protector, whose obstinate chivalry stifles her new-found independence. But when Grace disregards Lieutenant Fitzwilliam's warnings about the dangers of the unexplored archipelago, it costs a friend his life and she realises she is not as free as she believes. DISCERNING GRACE is historical women's fiction that will appeal to fans of Claire Fraser from Outlander and Demelza Poldark from Poldark—in other words, fans of feisty historical female leads. It is a B.R.A.G.Medallion Honoree. The White Sails Series complete collection box set features one sassy heroine aboard a ship full of sailors. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Slow-burn historical women’s fiction with a splash of romance—think: the love child of books like Bridgerton mixed with Pirates of the Caribbean. GRACE ON THE HORIZON is the second full-length novel in The White Sails Series. Grace and Seamus, united by their past experiences, are adrift on a raft of shame in the sea of 1830s London society. After a personal tragedy, Grace’s desperation to leave London forces Seamus to accept a dubious commission on the private explorer, Clover. With the expedition financed by Colonel Hamilton and his private backers, Seamus is tasked with mapping a round-the-world voyage. But Colonel Hamilton has an additional package that requires delivering—Father Babcock—a priest wanted for murder. The church wants Babcock transported far from England to set up a new mission in South America. Battling his overprotectiveness, Seamus breaks his oath to always tell Grace the truth and hides Babcock’s identity from her. But the journey aboard the Clover is far from smooth sailing, and Grace suspects a saboteur. Trapped within the ship’s confines, she must learn to forgive her husband's well-intentioned duplicity and determine who wishes them harm—because now she also has her unborn child to protect. Is it an aggrieved member of the Admiralty who believes Seamus disgraced the service by resigning his command to chase after Grace? Perhaps Grace’s father, Lord Flint, seeking revenge against her for ruining the family name? Or a jealous suitor determined to ruin the life Grace is trying to build with Seamus? From the damp cobbled streets of London, around the freezing stormy tip of Cape Horn, and into the scorching dusty bush of New Holland, GRACE ON THE HORIZON promises another adventure on the high seas, bursting with action and suspense. It is historical women's fiction that will appeal to fans of the strong female protagonist in Outlander and and Poldark. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the fourth, and final, novella in The White Sails Series, CHRISTMAS AT GILLY DOWNS jumps forward ten years to see what the beloved characters from The White Sails Series are up to as they prepare to reunite for Christmas at Gilly Downs. Seamus Fitzwilliam musters the fortitude to persuade Grace to allow Edwin to leave Sydney for London, so that the boy can learn about managing the Elias Shipping Company across two continents. But will she cut the apron strings? Toby Hicks celebrates the birth of his second child with Erin, but a dire warning from Dr Billy Sykes dampens the happy occasion. Billy Sykes, now retired from naval life, has bought the local apothecary in Sydney Town. Delivery of a medicinal package to a patient has unforeseen consequences that has the potential to smear his good name. Adelia Shyling’s marriage to Victor Shyling is stronger than ever, as is the success of the sheep station, Gilly Downs. A perpetual social butterfly, she is looking forward to gathering her friends and family on Christmas Day, until a horrific accident threatens to ruin the whole event. Emily Fitzwilliam, at twenty-one, is an accomplished seamstress in Sydney Town’s most esteemed dress shop. Mrs Moore, her employer, is a hard but fair task master—that is until Emily catches her son’s eye. Jim Buchanan could not be prouder of his nephew Nevin. The lad has grown into a hard-working man fit to carry on the family name. However, more than anything, Jim desires a child of his own … Will this latest fruitless effort with his Pearl finally tear them apart? Wee Granny Mac refuses to age gracefully! How she and Old Quill haven't killed one another over the years is anyone's guess—though, he still hasn't stopped asking for her hand in marriage … Grace Fitzwilliam thought she would miss her life at sea more, but surrounded by family and friends, she is a woman content. As a second mother to Adelia’s red-headed rabble, Grace feels obligated to pluck eldest daughter, Ruthie, from the middle of a rivalrous love triangle unfolding on Gilly Downs before the young girl has her heart crushed. This Christmas novella links The White Sails Series and The Gold Hills Series (coming soon), which continues the Fitzwilliam family saga in Emily Fitzwilliam’s footsteps.

Book excerpt: Isolde's day has come. In Ireland, her mother, the Queen, lies dying. The throne of the Emerald Isle, one of the last strongholds of the goddess, awaits her. But while Ireland is her destiny, Isolde is already Queen of Cornwall, trapped in a loveless marriage to its mean-spirited King Mark. Her true love is his nephew, Tristan of Lyonesse, who has never married, remaining faithful only to Isolde. Across the sea in France, a young princess who shares Isolde's name enters the story. King Hoel named his daughtor in honor of Isolde of Ireland, and young Isolde of France has always been determined to outdo her beautiful namesake. She is a physician, too, and is called "Blanche Mains," for her white hands and healing touch. Blanche is of an age to be married, and she has chosen her husband—Tristan of Lyonesse. Her father objects, but fate favors Blanche. King Mark has become suspicious of his wife and nephew, and when Tristan is wounded in battle, he sees a chance to separate them for good. Mark sends Tristan to France to be healed by Blanche, who makes the most of the opportunity. Tristan's letters to Isolde are intercepted, and he is told that she has given him up. Near death from his wounds, Tristan sends one last, desparate letter to Isolde by a trusted servant. He is dying, he tells her, and asks for one final sign of their love. If she can forgive him for betraying her, she must come to France in a ship set with white sails. If the ship's sails are black, however, he will know that she no longer loves him. Isolde immediately leaves for France, but when Blanche sees the white-sailed ship from the castle window, she pulls the curtains and tells Tristan that the sails are black. To her horror, he turns his face to the wall and dies. There ends the traditional medieval story of Tristan and Isolde—with betrayal, death, and grief. But the original Irish lengend ends differently, and so does this book, wth magic and drama as only Rosalind Miles could write it.

At long last, the peace King Arthur has fought for has settled over Britain, but he is a warrior, restless for battle. When his territory of Less Britain is under threat from barbarian raiding he sails to Gaul, intending to be away for only a few months. When he fails to return, and rumour spreads of his death, who will take his place as King of All Britain - and who will Gwenhwyfar, his wife, take as a new husband? Not accepting her widowhood she is determined to discover Arthur's fate. But sometimes it takes more than courage to face the reality of truth... The Kingmaking: Book One Pendragon's Banner: Book Two Shadow of the King: Book Three The Boy: Who became a Man Who became a King: Who became a Legend... KING ARTHUR There is no Merlin, no sword in the stone, and no Lancelot. Instead, the man who became a king and our most enduring hero. "If only all historical fiction could be this good." Historical Novels Review "... Juggles a large cast of characters and a bloody, tangled plot with great skill. " Publishers Weekly "Hollick's writing is one of the best I've come across - her descriptions are so vivid it seems as if there's a movie screen in front of you, playing out the scenes." Passages To The Past "Hollick adds her own unique twists and turns to the familiar mythology" Booklist "Uniquely compelling... bound to have a lasting and resounding impact on Arthurian literature." Books Magazine AMAZON READERS' COMMENTS "Spell-binding, magnificent, gutsy, heartbreaking, raw with bloodshed, triumphant! Helen Hollick's Arthurian trilogy quickly draws you into the world of legend. No genteel fairy tale story of Camelot, this! Gutsy, sweaty, and real. The Dark Ages brought vividly, to life! This is the legend I want to believe in." "In this version of the King Arthur story, Arthur is a dark hero. He is young, selfish, ambitious and callous. He makes decisions based on his own desires with little thought to future consequences, making enemies left and right. Yet Ms. Hollick does a fabulous job of letting the reader glimpse just enough of his fears and vulnerabilities to keep him from being unlikeable, and to sway the reader to root for his success. I thoroughly enjoyed the portrayal of Gwenhwyfar. She is a worthy heroine. Full of action, troubled heroes, wicked villains, violence, betrayal and, of course, true love, this well-written book is an intense read and a real page-turner." "Helen Hollick brings her multi-layered, complex characters to life on the page. I especially enjoyed her depiction of the feisty, independent Gwenhwyfar - who is somewhat of a warrior in her own right. Ms. Hollick's interpretations of the Sacred Stone, The Lady of the Lake, Stonehenge, etc., are really original." "Arthur is at times very unlikeable: no modern man in fancy dress here, but a man of his time - and that time was brutal. As for Gwenhwyfar... a brilliant heroine, at times strong, at times horribly vulnerable. Their relationship is compelling and feels true" "What a story! I fell in love with Arthur from the start, a flesh and blood hero with flaws. [This] wonderful trilogy doesn't rely on unnecessary padding, the descriptions are heart rending. Here is a writer in the older style not ' jump on the bandwagon writing!' Read and enjoy..."

Lewis Society in 2007, is the only peer-reviewed journal devoted to the study of C. S. Lewis and his writings published anywhere in the world. It exists to promote literary, theological, historical, biographical, philosophical, bibliographical and cultural interest (broadly defined) in Lewis and his writings. The journal includes articles, review essays, book reviews, film reviews and play reviews, bibliographical material, poetry, interviews, editorials, and announcements of Lewis-related conferences, events and publications. Its readership is aimed at academic scholars from a wide variety of disciplines, as well as learned non-scholars and Lewis enthusiasts. At this time, Sehnsucht is published once a year.
