Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My own private opinion is that there is no such thing as preaching Christ and him crucified, unless you preach what now-a-days is called Calvinism. It is a nickname to call it Calvinism; Calvinism is the gospel, and nothing else. I do not believe we can preach the gospel, if we do not preach justification by faith, without works; nor unless we preach the sovereignty of God in his dispensation of grace; nor unless we exalt the electing, unchangeable, eternal, immutable, conquering, love of Jehovah: nor do I think we can preach the gospel, unless we base it upon the peculiar redemption which Christ made for his elect and chosen people; nor can I comprehend a gospel which lets saints fall away after they are called, and suffers the children of God to be burned in the fires of damnation after having believed. Such a gospel I abhor. The gospel of the Bible is not such a gospel. We preach Christ crucified in a different fashion, and to all gainsayers we reply. "We have not so learned Christ." (Charles Spurgeon)

Book Synopsis Preaching Your Way Out of a Mess by : Johnny Teague
Download or read book Preaching Your Way Out of a Mess written by Johnny Teague and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-03-22 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every day, a pastor faces armies of despair, fatigue, exhaustion, and frustration. That blessed hope of a Spurgeon church has morphed into a Paul prison. Every time he looks up, there is another attack. First errors are found, then sin; doctrinal arguing leads to internal strife. The army of the nation’s culture surrounds for the kill. The pastor places his baptism handkerchief on a broom handle and crawls out to surrender. Just then, he looks to the horizon to see a glorious alliance of sixty-six armies. The enemy turns in fear—many ride away, while others engage, only to be routed. The preacher had forgotten that there are more with us than against us. No matter the mess, God is with us. He has given his Spirit to move among us, and he has given us his word to defeat every attack. Grab this handbook and be encouraged; you can preach your way out of every mess.

Book Synopsis God's Abundant Grace by : Dwight L. Moody
Download or read book God's Abundant Grace written by Dwight L. Moody and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 1998-01-01 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "MANY OF YOU HAVE BEEN KEPT OUT OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD BY YOUR GOOD WORKS." A startling thought, isn't it? Righteous acts and hard work may be the very things that lock the door to God's salvation, writes D. L. Moody. The faith versus works debate has gone on for two thousand years. Today the confusion continues. How many people, perhaps even you, believe that if they try hard enough, they may be able to escape judgment and receive God's gift of salvation? In God's Abundant Grace, D. L. Moody's words reach forward in time to strip away the layers we've added to God's salvation and lay bare the simple instruction: "To him that worketh not, but believeth to Him,... his faith is counted for righteousness."
