Book Synopsis Die Gottesvorstellungen in der antik-jüdischen Apokalyptik by : Stefan Beyerle
Download or read book Die Gottesvorstellungen in der antik-jüdischen Apokalyptik written by Stefan Beyerle and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2005-07-01 with total page 559 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph studies the theological motivations behind certain Jewish apocalypses by focusing on the mighty acts of God recounted in these writings. In particular, the work examines the various depictions of God’s acts and attributes as a means for learning about the individuals and groups responsible for the transmission of these apocalypses. Three prominent motifs, among others, receive attention here: theophanies (e.g., I Enoch 1:3–9; 25:3; 77:1; Daniel 4:10, 20; 7:9–10, 13–14), portrayals of the resurrection (e.g., I Enoch 102 – 104; Daniel 12:1–3), and interpretations of the (Babylonian) Exile in connection with the “new creation” (e.g., Qumran, Jubilees, Pseudo-Philo). Apocalypticism provides a framework for various theologies. Generally speaking, God is shown as the most prominent figure in these dramas of eschatological events. The authors of these writings typically held that their only deliverance could arise from the imminent arrival of an otherworldly eon ushered in by the power of God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third meeting of the European network of children’s theology took place in April 2013 in Trondheim, Norway. Sturla Sagberg organised this meeting with great care and commitment, and intended to publish the contributions to the conference in a book to make them accessible to the wider public. The approach of children’s theology has been specified and differentiated over the course of the last ten years. This book provides insight into the process and results of different European and North American research projects. As the practice of children’s theology is linked to the “great questions”, which are equally raised by children’s philosophy, the range of topics of both the conference and this book are marked by the terms children’s theology, children’s philosophy and spirituality.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can children theologize without substantial requirements? Initially, the movement of child theology accentuated children’s original theological creativity. But in the last years, several authors point out that children need theological food in order to originally theologize. One of the most appropriate medium are children’s books. This volume presents the lectures of the international symposium “Children’s books: Nurture for children’s theology”. Proven experts demonstrate empirically studied strategies in order to stimulate children’s theological reasoning, be it about God, Jesus as the savior, death, the soul, Christmas and many other theological topics more. This reader presents the state of the art in theologizing with children stimulated by children’s books.

Book Synopsis The Art of Dialogue by : Ineke de Feijter
Download or read book The Art of Dialogue written by Ineke de Feijter and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2007 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Media and culture are deeply intertwined in contemporary society. Religions have problems relating to this media culture, which is shaped by media processes and conditioned by digital media and interactive forms of communication. Media set the agenda and they profoundly challenge religions, both with respect to their public communication, and their very existence and public relevance. People increasingly use media for shaping their religious identity and their search with respect to questions of ultimate meaning. Barely any theological studies exist that reflect on religious policies, and their subsequent praxis, in the field of communication. The author analyzes Christian policy views and identifies the main problems and opportunities in relating to media culture.

In addition, the volume deals with the designation of deity as "father" or "mother" from the broad spectrum of ancient Egypt and classical antiquity (Homer, Hesiod, Plato, and its reception) to late antiquity (Plotinus and Porphyry).
Book Synopsis The Court of Reason by : Beatrix Himmelmann
Download or read book The Court of Reason written by Beatrix Himmelmann and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2021-11-08 with total page 1990 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Proceedings present the contributions to the 13th International Kant Congress which was held at the University of Oslo, August 6-9, 2019. The congress, which hosted speakers from more than thirty countries and five continents, was dedicated to the topic of the court of reason. The idea that reason stands before itself as a tribunal characterizes the whole of Kant's critical project. Without such a court, reason falls into conflict with itself. With such a court in place, however, it may succeed in establishing the possibility and limits of metaphysics, ethics, aesthetics, law and science. The idea of reason being its own judge is not only pivotal to a proper understanding of Kant's philosophy, but can also shed light on the burgeoning fields of meta-philosophy and philosophical methodology. The 2019 Kant Congress put special emphasis on Kant's methodology, his account of conceptual critique, and the relevance of his ideas to current issues in especially political philosophy and the philosophy of law. Additional sections discussed a wide range of topics in Kant's philosophy. The Proceedings will provide anyone who is interested in exploring the variety of present-day work on Kant and Kantian themes with a wealth of fruitful inspiration.
Book Synopsis Before the Face of God by : Hanneke Schaap-Jonker
Download or read book Before the Face of God written by Hanneke Schaap-Jonker and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2008 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All over the world, millions of people attend services every week, and most of them will hear sermons. What happens between the sermon and the listener? Does the sermon become meaningful to listeners? The present study in the fields of practical theology, homiletics, and psychology of religion combines quantitative and qualitative methods to offer an empirically-based approach to the study of preaching. Highlighting the psychological factors influencing how a sermon is heard, this study draws theoretical insight from the works of D.W. Winnicott, A.-M. Rizzuto and D. Bonhoeffer in its examination of the relationship between the meaning of the sermon and the hearer's God image, personality, and affective state.
