Book Synopsis Healing Lyme Disease Naturally by : Wolf D. Storl
Download or read book Healing Lyme Disease Naturally written by Wolf D. Storl and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2011-07-26 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on healing systems from around the world, a medical anthropologist and herbalist offers natural and holistic remedies for treating Lyme disease When Dr. Wolfe Storl was diagnosed with lyme disease, he refused standard treatments because of antibiotic intolerance. Instead, he researched healing systems of various cultures—including Traditional Chinese Medicine, American Indian healing practices, homeopathy, and traditional Western herbal lore—and discovered the teasel root. Teasel, a flowering plant that grows throughout Europe and Asia, tonifies the liver and kidneys, promotes blood circulation, and strengthens the bones and tendons. The plant has been documented to help cure chronic conditions marked by arthritis, sore, stiff muscles, and eventual incapacitation—all symptoms associated with Lyme disease. Dr. Storl’s approach consists of flushing out toxins and inhibiting bacteria by using teasel root as tincture, powder, or tea (available for purchase online and in natural foods stores); stimulating the immune system and detoxifying the body by exposing it to extreme heat (sweat lodges and Japanese baths); and dietary and naturopathic measures, including fresh natural food, exercise, and sufficient sleep. Written in an encouraging, personal tone but based in science and clinical studies, Healing Lyme Disease Naturally offers hope in combating a condition that has stubbornly resisted conventional medical treatment.
Book Synopsis A Violent God-Image by : Matthias Beier
Download or read book A Violent God-Image written by Matthias Beier and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2004-04-30 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theologian and psychotherapist Eugen Drewermann has been the most significant, the most prolific, and the best-selling theological writer in the German language over the past quarter century. Drewermann shows that religion, including Christianity, turns violent mentally, spiritually, and even physically if it uses fear as a motive for faith— fear of exclusion from the group, fear of hell, and fear of God. At the heart of Drewermann's nonviolent interpretation of key Christian beliefs is his analysis of a violent image of God that characterizes traditional interpretations of sin and the cross. It is this God-image, opposed to human desires and self-realization, that sanctified the killings of millions of peoples in wars declared to be "just" and legitimated the violent exploitation of nonhuman nature and the aggressive economic exploitation of non-Christian cultures. The sheer enormity of Drewermann's principal books has thwarted publication of his works in English translation to date. His empathic critique of the clerical mentality, ideology, and culture (The Cleric), based on his psychotherapeutic work with clergy, led to his being silenced by Roman Catholic authorities in 1991 and suspended from the priesthood in 1992. This is the first full-length introduction to Drewermann in English and includes extensive quotations from his works.

Book Synopsis Intellectus Gratiae by : Josef Lössl
Download or read book Intellectus Gratiae written by Josef Lössl and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2015-12-22 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first large scale study on the link between the concepts of intellect and grace in the writings of St. Augustine of Hippo. Its five chapters deal with Augustine's writings on grace as they focus on questions concerning epistemology and hermeneutics. Already non-Christian ancient philosophers identified intellectual perfection with salvation as caused by divine grace. Under their influence (I) Augustine developed also his biblical thought (II). The culmination of his concept of intellectus gratiae, however, came in the later works on sacraments (III), hermeneutics (IV) and against Pelagius and Julian of Eclanum (V). This study highlights that development and recommends the concept of intellectus gratiae as a possible key to Augustine's theological thought as a whole.

Book excerpt: The Festschrift in honor of the 70th birthday of the former Secretary General of the Egyptian "Supreme Council for Antiquities" (SCA) Gaballa Aly Gaballa comprises contributions from 23 scholars from Europe and Egypt. The here published essays cover the time span from the Egyptian Early Period to the Coptic Period, discussing archaeological and historical, as well as philological and religious issues. Researchers like Gunter Dreyer and Nabil Swelim present results of their latest excavations; several of Gaballa's many students make unknown objects from the Egyptian museum in Cairo accessible to the public for the first time; and Kenneth A. Kitchen introduces the reader to innovative as well as traditional views on the family of Ramses II., basing these investigations on his studies on the later New Kingdom periods. Old Egyptian literature is focused on in Dietrich Raue's ideas on re-dating certain events of the period, and in Zeinab Mahrous' analysis of the entry phrases of the Tale of the Doomed Prince and the Tale of Two Brothers.
