Download or read book The Tin Book written by Gordon Hoyles and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-04-07 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the 1970's, Gordon Hoyles' poetry output was prolific and breathtakingly honest. With no money for printing, he turned necessity into a virtue and wrote a poem on the white enamelled side of an old gas oven. Page one of 'The Tin Book' was born. Other 'Tin Pages' were created and exhibited in locations far and wide. 'Soon there were Tins in London and Liverpool and thickly clustered in many parts.' One hundred tins later, and they were exhibited together in the Precinct Centre Library, Manchester, in February 1979. This second paperback edition brings this extraordinary collection to a modern audience in a different context. We hope that we have managed to retain some of the energy and ingenuity with which these poems were first created.
Download or read book Scented Rushes written by Nada Gordon and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poetry. "Is poetry alive? It is part of the human body and seems to look like the human mind. But it is almost never as lively, voluptuous, dancing as these poems of Nada Gordon. She seems to be using her own dictionary and idiolect and innocence. Her work is a cadenza ad lib and seems unflawed as a Bollywood movie unfolds with increasing intensity. This is some of the freshest work of her generation: she helps create the new comedy, where jokes are not needed to be happy. She has what a painter once told me was absolutely necessary: shamelessness. This is like rock and roll from another planet for another time" David Shapiro."

Book excerpt: During the heatwave of July 2017, Ariel Gordon spent two days sitting on the patio of downtown Winnipegs Tallest Poppy, writing snippets of poems which she hung from the boulevard tree using paper and string. Passersby were invited to TreeTalk too their secrets / one-liners / meditations / haiku were also hung from the tree. By the end of the weekend, the elm had a second temporary canopy of leaves: 234 poems, 111 written by Gordon, 107 written by passersby, and 16 from other sources. Gordon has assembled all these voices into a long/found poem that asks: what does it mean to live in the urban forest? What does it mean to be in relationship with each other but also with the more-than-human? The book also includes pen and ink illustrations by Winnipeg artist Natalie Baird. Since 2017, Gordon has also hung poems in trees at the Sage Hill Poetry Experience in Muenster, SK, the Prairie Gate Literary Festival in Morris, MN, and at the Winnipeg Folk Festival as part of the Prairie Outdoor Exhibition. Book Synopsis The Sense Record by : Jennifer Moxley
Download or read book The Sense Record written by Jennifer Moxley and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poetry. Jennifer Moxley's first book of poems, IMAGINATION VERSES, won praise from an astonishing array of contemporary poets, from John Ashbery to Bob Perelman, and signaled her emergence as one of the most intense, original and attentive writers of her generation. Moxley's second full-length collection, THE SENSE RECORD AND OTHER POEMS, takes that earlier style even deeper into the thickets of thought. Uncovering radical similarities between a modular, Oppen-like concentration and 19th century late-Rococo abstraction, THE SENSE RECORD is everywhere obsessed with the problem of dividing and reconciling aesthetic form(s). Some will find ravishing confessions in this book, but others will find a philosophy of art.
