This book is different in that it explains HOW the electrodeposition processes work, covering such topics as the elctrodeposition of composites, multilayers, whisker formation and giant magnetoresistive effects. The section on R & D approaches will be especially useful for organisations in the field. Download or read book Electroplating written by Jack Poyner and published by Fountain PressLtd. This book was released on 1987 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The techniques of depositing a thin metallic layer on an object for decoration, corrosion protection, electrical conductivity, wear resistance and so on have been known for many years but have been developed and improved to a remarkable extent in the second half of this century. This book sets out to discuss the principles and practice of those forms of plating most suited to the amateur and small workshop, using relatively simple and inexpensive equipment to produce results virtually undetectable from work carried out by major plating concerns.

This book was released on 1984-11-30 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As an instructor in various finishing courses, I have frequently made the statement over the years that "In the field of metal finishing there is very little black and white, just a great deal of grey. It is the purpose of the instructor to familiarize the student with the beacons that will guide him through this fog. " To a very considerable extent, a handbook such as this serves a similar purpose. It is also subject to similar limitations. Providing all the required information would result in a multi-volume encyclopedia rather than a usable handbook. In the pages that follow, you will therefore find frequent references to other sources where more detailed explanations or information can be found. The present goal is proper guidance and the provision ofthe most frequently required facts, not everything that is available. In the 13 years since the last edition, changes in the finishing industry have been profound but in one sense have resulted in simplifying matters rather than complicating them. Because technology has advanced to a level of complexity rendering "home brew" impracti cal in many cases, dependence on proprietary compounds has become common. Therefore, detailed solution compositions are often no longer significant or even practical. It is thus more important to provide instruction about the factors that affect the choice of the most suitable type of proprietary material.

This book was released on 1989-04-25 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the standard work in the field of industrial hygiene. Occupational health hazard control, to be cost-effective, should be made an integral part of the production process. A proper mix of engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment is basic to occupational safety. This two- volume work presents safe, practical, production processes, and is written by professionals who have hands-on experience and are cerified in the practice of industrial hygiene. It covers organic and inorganic materials of a wide range of toxicities, from low to high; materials handling, from small to large quantities; and effective controls for each process and material covered. Controls descrived are often applicable to processes not specifically described in these volumes. The work should be of benefit to industrial hygienists, engineers, compliance officers and toxicologists.
