This book was released on 2014-11-19 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pupils with Social, Emotional and Behaviour Difficulties (often known as SEBD and EBD) comprise a group of learners who present challenges to their educators and the educational system; often, working with these pupils can be challenging and stressful for their teachers, as well as any professional involved. In England, research concerning the education and learning of pupils with SEBD has progressed considerably in the past three decades, and ‘good practice’ when working with pupils who present these difficulties has been widely investigated. In Cyprus, however, it is not nearly so widely known about and has not been researched to any great extent. This book explores the situation in the Cypriot education system, and begins by expanding the reader’s knowledge on developments on the education of those pupils whose behaviour raises challenges to the educational system and causes concerns to those involved. The book is informed by research which was undertaken by the author in Cyprus, and documents the views of educators and professionals on good practice. It explores the microsystem of a school, and will enrich the knowledge and understanding of those with personal and professional interests in working with these pupils to be ready to accommodate their needs. The book also contributes to a better understanding of the nature of SEBD, especially since the number of students presenting such difficulties in Cypriot primary education requires practitioners to be ready to provide the best practices possible.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is clearly recognized that medical errors represent a significant source of preventable healthcare-related morbidity and mortality. Furthermore, evidence shows that such complications are often the result of a series of smaller errors, missed opportunities, poor communication, breakdowns in established guidelines or protocols, or system-based deficiencies. While such events often start with the misadventures of an individual, it is how such events are managed that can determine outcomes and hopefully prevent future adverse events. The goal of Vignettes in Patient Safety is to illustrate and discuss, in a clinically relevant format, examples in which evidence-based approaches to patient care, using established methodologies to develop highly functional multidisciplinary teams, can help foster an institutional culture of patient safety and high-quality care delivery.

Book excerpt: Although there are several measures of fiscal transparency, none provides satisfactory information on certain issues of macroeconomic relevance, including whether fiscal data are available for all of general government, whether the government reports a balance sheet, and whether spending and revenue are reported on a cash or accrual basis. Drawing on government finance statistics reported to the IMF, this paper presents a new database of fiscal transparency for 186 countries in 2003–13 and derives from it indices of the overall comprehensiveness of fiscal statistics as well as specific indices of the coverage of public institutions, fiscal flows, and fiscal stocks, respectively. It finds evidence of gradual improvement, most notably in the coverage of institutions, but most countries’ reporting remains far from comprehensive

Book excerpt: BI Consulting Group has developed what is recognized as the most complete, most comprehensive set of dashboard and report design “best practice†standards ever developed, specific to Oracle Business Intelligence (formerly Siebel Business Analytics). These best practices have not been created simply to provide a “standard†, instead they are based on the most important litmus test – what standards actually cause dashboards to be used, and what “best practices†of dashboard and report development provide insight into the business, rather than just reports. This guide was started with the Siebel Analytics 7.8.x platform, before Oracle acquired Siebel. The current version of the guide reflects Oracle’s 10.1.3.3.x releases of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE). Expect this guide to be enhanced and revised with subsequent major releases of OBIEE.
