Book Synopsis God's Divine Teachings by : Dorothy Angkahan
Download or read book God's Divine Teachings written by Dorothy Angkahan and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2023-03-06 with total page 783 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The reality is, few believers have the time to search God's truths in the Bible, with its array of subjects (teachings). Therefore, handbooks on God's divine truths (Scripture) from the Bible are useful tools to do away with the tedious work--searching through the pages for specific teachings in the Bible. But a word of caution, handbooks are not written with the intend to deter one from studying one's own Bible, but to use as a tool (reference) alongside one's Bible--as one seeks God's truths in the Scriptures with the Holy Spirit's help (Jo. 14:26) and using spiritual discernment to study God's word ( 1Cor. 2:14; 2Tim. 3:16). This book also serves the same purpose, a reference tool, to help those who want easier access to specific teachings in the Bible. For example, and presented in this book, the origin of evil is in the Bible, yet it can be time-consuming to search through the Bible for the teachings on the origin of evil if one has limited time on hand. In this book, one will find a useful commentary, written in layman's terms that will give a step-by-step approach on the teaching on the origin of evil from the Bible--What is evil's origin? And why evil exist?--As well as the other teachings from the Bible presented in this book. The truth is when a repented sinner is saved through the Lord Jesus Christ (Jo. 3:16, 17), God's intentions for His children (in Christ) is to become knowledgeable on His divine teachings in the Bible. Yet there are those who are not familiar with the divine teachings in the Bible and may believe it isn't necessary to study God's truths (Scripture), as long as one is saved (Jo. 3:16, 17; Ro. 10:9, 10; 2Tim. 1:9, 10). But that isn't so, according to the Bible, for example, if a believer is going to carry his cross to follow Jesus (Mt. 10:38), then he needs to understand what he is up against--his spiritual warfare against evil spirits in the world (Eph. 6:12) in order to remain steadfast in the faith and overcome the day of evil, when forced upon him (Eph. 6:13). And according to the Scriptures, one needs to know God (Jo. 17:3) in order for one to know His will for a believer's life; and the only way to know the true God is with the Holy Spirit's help (Jo. 14:26), and this is also taught in the Bible--the importance of the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures in a believer's life (Gal. 5:25; 2Tim. 3:16). And if a believer is to follow Jesus Christ's example here on earth, then he needs to learn what the Scriptures teach about the Son of God, Jesus Christ ( 1Pe. 2: 21). In fact, the more knowledge one gets studying about the teachings on God and His specific attributes (love, mercy, justice, etc.) and His other divine truths on prayer, faith, works, and stewardship (Phil. 4:6; Jas. 2:14-26; 1 Pe. 4:10) etc. in the Bible, one may become better equipped, with the Holy Spirit's help and God's word, to face the challenges in life, through the Lord Jesus Christ. May God's truths from the Bible, presented in this book, enrich and enlighten one's life today and onward for God's glory. As for all interpretations of God's word in any book, including this one, please carefully compare with the Scriptures (2 Tim. 3:16) and use spiritual discernment ( 1Cor. 2:14) with the Holy Spiritual help, then one will not be misguided but enlighten to understand God's divine teachings from the Holy Scriptures. May one seek wisdom from God today (Jas. 1:5-7).

Book Synopsis Defending Inerrancy by : Norman L. Geisler
Download or read book Defending Inerrancy written by Norman L. Geisler and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to the authors, the doctrine of inerrancy has been standard, accepted teaching for more than 1,000 years. In 1978, the famous "Chicago Statement" on inerrancy was adopted by the Evangelical Theological Society, and for decades it has been the accepted conservative evangelical doctrine of the Scriptures. However, in recent years, some prominent evangelical authors have challenged this statement in their writings. Now eminent apologist and bestselling author Norman L. Geisler, who was one of the original drafters of the "Chicago Statement," and his coauthor, William C. Roach, present a defense of the traditional understanding of inerrancy for a new generation of Christians who are being assaulted with challenges to the nature of God, truth, and language. Pastors, students, and armchair theologians will appreciate this clear, reasoned response to the current crisis.

Book excerpt: Get Lost. . . and Find What Really Matters We are made for freedom and adventure, friendship and romance. Yet too much of life is spent unfulfilled at work, restless at home, and bored at church. All the while knowing there is something more. You’ll find some of life’s best moments waiting for you over a campfire, on a river—even in that coffee shop or brewery you didn’t know you’d discover along the way. It’s time to begin the search. In the literary spirit of well-worn tales about America’s open road, this poetic, honest, often hilarious collection of essays shows how to embark on adventures that kindle spiritual reflection, personal growth, and deeper family connections. From surfing California’s coastlines, stargazing southwestern deserts, and fly-fishing in remote mountains of Montana, you’ll be inspired to follow the author’s footsteps and use the hand-drawn maps from each chapter to plan your own trips. There you will hear God’s voice – and it may help you find what you’re searching for. “We search mountaintops and valleys, deserts and oceans, hoping sunrises and long views through the canyons will help us discover who we are, or who we still want to be. The language of our hearts reflects that of creation because in both are fingerprints of God.” —Roger W. Thompson

Book Synopsis 40 Questions about Typology and Allegory by : Mitchell L. Chase
Download or read book 40 Questions about Typology and Allegory written by Mitchell L. Chase and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A biblical type is a person, place, or thing in salvation history that corresponds to a later person, place, or thing in the scriptural text. An allegory is a passage that says one thing in order to say something else. Both are common literary devices in the Bible that are vital for understanding truths about Jesus Christ found nowhere else. In 40 Questions About Typology and Allegory, Mitchell Chase provides a thorough introduction to both devices, showing where they appear throughout Scripture and the historical roles they have played in biblical interpretation. In a convenient question-and-answer format, Chase answers key questions such as: Why should interpreters care about typology and allegory? How do we identify types? What are the theological assumptions of typology? Do all types lead to Christ? What is allegorical interpretation? How was allegory practiced in the early church? How should we practice allegorical interpretation? Situating typology and allegory within salvation history, Chase shows how these devices reveal the interconnectedness of Scripture and commonly overlooked aspects of Christ's person and work. Scholars, Bible teachers, and preachers will find this an essential resource for interpreting Scripture more comprehensively. --
