En este diccionario se recogen ejemplos reales tomados de la prensa económica española actual, de las dos variedades más comunes del inglés, el británico y el americano, aunque más bien podríamos hablar de inglés internacional ya que la globalización de los mercados ha hecho que desaparezcan algunos rasgos diferenciales.

Finalmente, el vocabulario del comercio, por tener su origen en el normando antiguo, participa de los dos registros, el coloquial y el formal. Estas diferencias léxicas y su reflejo en los dos idiomas se recogen en las dos partes (inglés-español / Spanish-English) del Diccionario de términos económicos, financieros y comerciales. Esta obra se dirige principalmente a los traductores y a los estudiosos y profesionales de las distintas ramas de las ciencias económicas y empresariales, y del comercio internacional. El diccionario consta de más de 25.000 entradas en cada una de las partes y se han incluido los términos ingleses más modernos del mundo de los negocios, de los que se da no sólo su traducción al español, sino también una breve explicación, acompañada casi siempre de un ejemplo de uso o de la oportuna remisión a algún término relacionado. En lo que se refiere al español, se tiene muy en cuenta los términos del mundo económico acuñados recientemente. Con estos planteamientos, se ha creado un instrumento de trabajo útil, práctico y fácil de manejar, y una fuente de información fresca y actual. Tres han sido los cometidos de esta quinta edición: (a) corregir las erratas detectadas, (b) favorecer la comprensión de algunos términos complejos, mejorando su definición y aumentando, en particular, el número de ejemplos contextualizadores; y (c) ampliar el número de entradas léxicas nuevas, en torno a 250, algunas de ellas surgidas en la economía del siglo XXI, tales como margin debt, meltdown, ninja, subprime mortgage, “financiarización”, etc

I immediately recognized that the Internet would radically transform second language teaching and learning, and within a year had written my first book on the topic, E-Mail for English Teaching.
