It cannot be seen, measured, Or weighed with limited capacity And tools of finite senses of body. But after proper alignment And complete merger of The self into super, I came to realize That the One Whom we all seek And pray in fact Starts from me And ends up with me. The day I recognized my real self And my real worth I would have seen Him And known Him. I Sometime Ask Him to Wait When sometimes I feel sad and lonely, Tired or exhausted, Because of any reason Whatsoever, I take a little cup of wine. After the very first sip I see Him opening the doors Of His kingdom for me And asking me With folded hands To please get in. I sometimes ask Him to wait, Not disturb, And let me first finish the drink!

Book Synopsis Augustine's Invention of the Inner Self by : Phillip Cary
Download or read book Augustine's Invention of the Inner Self written by Phillip Cary and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2003-04-03 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, Phillip Cary argues that Augustine invented the concept of the self as a private inner space-a space into which one can enter and in which one can find God. Although it has often been suggested that Augustine in some way inaugurated the Western tradition of inwardness, this is the first study to pinpoint what was new about Augustine's philosophy of inwardness and situate it within a narrative of his intellectual development and his relationship to the Platonist tradition. Augustine invents the inner self, Cary argues, in order to solve a particular conceptual problem. Augustine is attracted to the Neoplatonist inward turn, which located God within the soul, yet remains loyal to the orthodox Catholic teaching that the soul is not divine. He combines the two emphases by urging us to turn "in then up"--to enter the inner world of the self before gazing at the divine Light above the human mind. Cary situates Augustine's idea of the self historically in both the Platonist and the Christian traditions. The concept of private inner self, he shows, is a development within the history of the Platonist concept of intelligibility or intellectual vision, which establishes a kind of kinship between the human intellect and the divine things it sees. Though not the only Platonist in the Christian tradition, Augustine stands out for his devotion to this concept of intelligibility and his willingness to apply it even to God. This leads him to downplay the doctrine that God is incomprehensible, as he is convinced that it is natural for the mind's eye, when cleansed of sin, to see and understand God. In describing Augustine's invention of the inner self, Cary's fascinating book sheds new light on Augustine's life and thought, and shows how Augustine's position developed into the more orthodox Augustine we know from his later writings.

It is a treasure having all the wisdom of the Visionary of Truth which anyone can imbibe and lead a life of significance. It is not meant to be used as a self-help manual for finding solutions to day-to-day problems but to be used rather as a guide for attaining enlightenment in various practical situations in life. This book is meant to help people search deep in their lives to find answers to fundamental questions that relate to their self-identity and individuality. This book tries to give a glimpse of the mindset and the thought process of the Visionary of Truth. It is not easy to define a Visionary of Truth in one line. The Visionary of Truth is a realized soul. The most important question that one should ask is why a Visionary of Truth behaves the way he does? The main purpose of this book is to share with the readers some of the basic characteristics of a Visionary of Truth that differentiate him from the rest of the people in this world. The purpose of this book is not to teach one to become a Visionary of Truth. But the ideas and the thoughts contained in this book can definitely make one think beyond one’s limitations and can help to cross the boundaries of ignorance and enter the zone of blissful living.

Book Synopsis Faith Thinking, Second Edition by : Trevor Hart
Download or read book Faith Thinking, Second Edition written by Trevor Hart and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-11-12 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Faith Thinking provides a stimulating introduction to some vital questions of method in Christian theology. The book argues that faith commitments are necessary not in theology alone but in all serious acts of our knowing anything at all as human beings. Knowledge, in other words, is always bound to be the outcome of some process of “faith seeking understanding.” Fresh consideration is given too in this book to relationships obtaining between the authoritative canon of Scripture, tradition, and “reason” in the theological task. Finally, in this new edition an important reevaluation is undertaken of the potentially explosive impact of “truth claims” in a post-truth world.
