Book excerpt: L'industrie forestière, comme toute autre industrie manufacturière, est en recherche et révision permanente de ses systèmes et outils de planification afin de suivre la vision de l'industrie 4.0. Malgré les résultats importants obtenus dans ce sens dans le cas des scieries, l'établissement du lien entre ces outils et les préoccupations environnementales et d'économie d'énergie est encore faible. Ce mémoire propose un outil d’aide à la décision pour planifier la production dans une scierie typique de la province de Québec, Canada, visant à participer au programme de gestion de la demande en puissance (GDP) offert par Hydro-Québec. À cette fin, une revue de la littérature a été réalisée afin d'établir un état de l'art sur les systèmes de gestion de l'énergie industrielle, la gestion de la demande en puissance et les modèles de planification existants de l'industrie du bois d'œuvre. Ensuite, des données énergétiques et des plans de production réels ont été collectés. Une analyse statistique de ces données a été effectuée, afin de comprendre le comportement du cas étudié et de générer des données d'entrée pour l’outil de planification. Une modélisation mathématique pour panifier la production de produits en contexte de GDP tout en minimisant les coûts d’arriérage à l’unité de finition a dès lors été réalisée, ce quia permis de démontrer que la participation au programme d’Hydro-Québec est possible pour la scierie à l’étude,même avec des quantités limitées en arriérage. Le lien entre l'évolution de l'inventaire et les évènements GDP suggère que l'inventaire sert comme barrière préventive et protectrice lors de la participation à un programme de GDP. De plus, le délestage total a été démontré dans deux scénarios à savoir les événements GDP de 16heures en ajoutant 1,5 heures supplémentaire au calendrier de production hebdomadaire ainsi que les événements GDP de 30 heures avec un ajout de 1,5 heures au calendrier de production hebdomadaire. En somme, l'étude a généré, pour une scierie québécoise typique, un outil d'aide à la décision à mettre en place afin de participer au programme de gestion de puissance d'Hydro-Québec. Cet outil permet une planification opérationnelle de l'industrie du bois d'œuvre intégrant la facette énergétique. La démarche utilisée est décrite,révélant une méthodologie prospective qui pourrait être répliquée dans d'autres domaines dans le cadre de futures études.

Until recently, the management of faecal sludge from these onsite systems has been grossly neglected, partially as a result of them being considered temporary solutions until sewer-based systems could be implemented. However, the perception of onsite or decentralized sanitation technologies for urban areas is gradually changing, and is increasingly being considered as long-term, sustainable options in urban areas, especially in low- and middle-income countries that lack sewer infrastructures. This is the first book dedicated to faecal sludge management.
