Book excerpt: Having lived to the ripe old age of ninety-four, Rho finds himself reborn as a genetically engineered super-soldier (G.E.S.S.). Eighteen years later, he is killed in battle during a war that annihilates all complex life forms on the planet. Three thousand years on, the system—an ancient entity so steeped in mystery that no one knows its origins, though it is linked to every sentient being in the Universe—brings Rho back to life once more. In the intervening three millennia, the system has recreated all the life forms that existed at the time of the war through a series of evolutionary steps. As the only Gess preserved well enough to avoid decomposition, and with a reward of one extra life for each, Rho is tasked with a quest to teach the system to all the evolving species. The daunting and seemingly impossible task is hampered further as the races have yet to evolve to where they have developed a language. Unable to refuse the system given quest, Rho finds he has an ally in his task, a green-eyed, raven-haired beauty called Tabby, or ‘the system’ as she used to be known. Together, they set about their first part of the quest and head towards the nearest race—the elves. Join Rho in this gripping tale, as he sets about his task with guile, gusto, and a fair amount of magic by downloading your copy of G.E.S.S. The Phoenix Project-Book One.
Book Synopsis Compactifications Of Pel-type Shimura Varieties And Kuga Families With Ordinary Loci by : Kai-wen Lan
Download or read book Compactifications Of Pel-type Shimura Varieties And Kuga Families With Ordinary Loci written by Kai-wen Lan and published by #N/A. This book was released on 2017-07-21 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a comprehensive treatise on the partial toroidal and minimal compactifications of the ordinary loci of PEL-type Shimura varieties and Kuga families, and on the canonical and subcanonical extensions of automorphic bundles. The results in this book serve as the logical foundation of several recent developments in the theory of p-adic automorphic forms; and of the author's work with Harris, Taylor, and Thorne on the construction of Galois representations without any polarizability conditions, which is a major breakthrough in the Langlands program. This book is important for active researchers and graduate students who need to understand the above-mentioned recent works, and is written with such users of the theory in mind, providing plenty of explanations and background materials, which should be helpful for people working in similar areas. It also contains precise internal and external references, and an index of notation and terminologies. These are useful for readers to quickly locate materials they need.

Book Synopsis Local Limit Theorems for Inhomogeneous Markov Chains by : Dmitry Dolgopyat
Download or read book Local Limit Theorems for Inhomogeneous Markov Chains written by Dmitry Dolgopyat and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-07-31 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book extends the local central limit theorem to Markov chains whose state spaces and transition probabilities are allowed to change in time. Such chains are used to model Markovian systems depending on external time-dependent parameters. The book develops a new general theory of local limit theorems for additive functionals of Markov chains, in the regimes of local, moderate, and large deviations, and provides nearly optimal conditions for the classical expansions, as well as asymptotic corrections when these conditions fail. Applications include local limit theorems for independent but not identically distributed random variables, Markov chains in random environments, and time-dependent perturbations of homogeneous Markov chains. The inclusion of appendices with background material, numerous examples, and an account of the historical background of the subject make this self-contained book accessible to graduate students. It will also be useful for researchers in probability and ergodic theory who are interested in asymptotic behaviors, Markov chains in random environments, random dynamical systems and non-stationary systems.
Book Synopsis Multilevel Strategic Interaction Game Models for Complex Networks by : Eitan Altman
Download or read book Multilevel Strategic Interaction Game Models for Complex Networks written by Eitan Altman and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-18 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a state-of-the-art overview on the dynamics and coevolution in multi-level strategic interaction games. As such it summarizes the results of the European CONGAS project, which developed new mathematical models and tools for the analysis, prediction and control of dynamical processes in systems possessing a rich multi-level structure and a web of interwoven interactions among elements with autonomous decision-making capabilities. The framework is built around game theoretical concepts, in particular evolutionary and multi-resolution games, and includes also techniques drawn from graph theory, statistical mechanics, control and optimization theory. Specific attention is devoted to systems that are prone to intermittency and catastrophic events due to the effect of collective dynamics.
Book Synopsis Insect Mouthparts by : Harald W. Krenn

Book excerpt: This is the first comprehensive book focusing on the form and function of insect mouthparts. Written by leading experts, it reviews the current knowledge on feeding types and the evolution of mouthparts and presents new research approaches. The richly illustrated articles cover topics ranging from functional morphology, biomechanics of biting and chewing, and the biophysics of fluid-feeding to the morphogenesis and genetics of mouthpart development, ecomorphology in flower-visiting insects as well as the evolution of mouthparts, including fossil records. Intended for entomologists and scientists interested in interdisciplinary approaches, the book provides a solid basis for future scientific work. Book Synopsis Construction of a Concept of Neuronal Modeling by : Marcus Grum
Download or read book Construction of a Concept of Neuronal Modeling written by Marcus Grum and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-25 with total page 896 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The business problem of having inefficient processes, imprecise process analyses and simulations as well as non-transparent artificial neuronal network models can be overcome by an easy-to-use modeling concept. With the aim of developing a flexible and efficient approach to modeling, simulating and optimizing processes, this paper proposes a flexible Concept of Neuronal Modeling (CoNM). The modeling concept, which is described by the modeling language designed and its mathematical formulation and is connected to a technical substantiation, is based on a collection of novel sub-artifacts. As these have been implemented as a computational model, the set of CoNM tools carries out novel kinds of Neuronal Process Modeling (NPM), Neuronal Process Simulations (NPS) and Neuronal Process Optimizations (NPO). The efficacy of the designed artifacts was demonstrated rigorously by means of six experiments and a simulator of real industrial production processes.
