Book Synopsis Introduction to Visual Computing by : Aditi Majumder
Download or read book Introduction to Visual Computing written by Aditi Majumder and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-31 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Visual Computing: Core Concepts in Computer Vision, Graphics, and Image Processing covers the fundamental concepts of visual computing. Whereas past books have treated these concepts within the context of specific fields such as computer graphics, computer vision or image processing, this book offers a unified view of these core concepts, thereby providing a unified treatment of computational and mathematical methods for creating, capturing, analyzing and manipulating visual data (e.g. 2D images, 3D models). Fundamentals covered in the book include convolution, Fourier transform, filters, geometric transformations, epipolar geometry, 3D reconstruction, color and the image synthesis pipeline. The book is organized in four parts. The first part provides an exposure to different kinds of visual data (e.g. 2D images, videos and 3D geometry) and the core mathematical techniques that are required for their processing (e.g. interpolation and linear regression.) The second part of the book on Image Based Visual Computing deals with several fundamental techniques to process 2D images (e.g. convolution, spectral analysis and feature detection) and corresponds to the low level retinal image processing that happens in the eye in the human visual system pathway. The next part of the book on Geometric Visual Computing deals with the fundamental techniques used to combine the geometric information from multiple eyes creating a 3D interpretation of the object and world around us (e.g. transformations, projective and epipolar geometry, and 3D reconstruction). This corresponds to the higher level processing that happens in the brain combining information from both the eyes thereby helping us to navigate through the 3D world around us. The last two parts of the book cover Radiometric Visual Computing and Visual Content Synthesis. These parts focus on the fundamental techniques for processing information arising from the interaction of light with objects around us, as well as the fundamentals of creating virtual computer generated worlds that mimic all the processing presented in the prior sections. The book is written for a 16 week long semester course and can be used for both undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as a reference for professionals.

Book Synopsis Biogeometry Signatures Mandalas Coloring Book by : Doreya Karim
Download or read book Biogeometry Signatures Mandalas Coloring Book written by Doreya Karim and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-05-18 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The BioGeometry Signatures Mandalas Coloring Book includes a collection of 20 mandalas which combine the beneficial meditative effects of Mandala coloring and the subtle energy balancing harmonization achieved using BioGeometry Signatures designs. Mandalas, by virtue of their design, focus our minds towards the center of circle, a special point that goes beyond time and space. BioGeometry Signatures are linear diagrams that represent specific energetic patterns found within the body's organs (similar in concept to how the Chinese energy meridians take the shape of and represent the energy flow of the human body). By introducing the BioGeometry Signatures into the Mandala designs each Mandala allows us to communicate with our internal energy structure while pulling us into a meditative stress releasing state through a detailed coloring experience.
Book Synopsis Patterns and Parkas by : Sandi Pendergrast
Download or read book Patterns and Parkas written by Sandi Pendergrast and published by Calgary : Detselig Enterprises. This book was released on 2007 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grade two students learn about the properties of shapes including squares, rectangles, triangles, and parallelograms. They learn a variety of ways to make those shapes and how Yup'ik elders use these shapes to create patterns. As the students make shapes, they learn about geometrical relationships, symmetry, congruence, proofs and measuring. Students connect learning in the community to learning in school. About the Series Math in a Cultural Context This series is a supplemental math curriculum based on the traditional wisdom and practices of the Yup'ik people of southwest Alaska. The result of more than a decade of collaboration between math educators and Yup'ik elders, these modules connect cultural knowledge to school mathematics. Students are challenged to communicate and think mathematically as they solve inquiry-oriented problems, which require creative, practical and analytical thinking. Classroom-based research strongly suggests that students engaged in this curriculum can develop deeper mathematical understandings than students who engage only with a procedure-oriented, paper-and-pencil curriculum.
Download or read book The Geometry Code written by Bruce Rawles and published by Elysian Publishing. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integrate practical insights from modern physics, ancient Hermetic Laws, non-dual meta-physics, transpersonal psychology, and humor, as tools for undoing conflicting beliefs we've dreamed ourselves into. The seven Hermetic laws are explored in depth and demonstrate how a mindfulness that embraces 'other' as 'self' can reverse the typical misapplication of these inescapable laws of Mentalism, Correspondence, Vibration, Polarity, Rhythm, Cause & Effect and Generation. Ubiquitous geometric symbols, paired to each of these laws - the circle, vesica piscis, sine wave, line, spiral, fractal and yin-yang - and their countless commonplace variations, seen from the vantage point of shared interests, reflect these ideas. The inspired use of natural law restores attributes of life, love, strength, purity, beauty, perfection and gratitude to our awareness.

In addition to a large collection of 2-dimensional patterns, a "coloring book for kids of all ages", there are 27 3-dimensional "fold-up" patterns which make it easier than ever before to create exquisite shapes revered by pioneers such as Plato, Pythagoras, and Leonardo daVinci. There is a brief introductory section on the philosophical perspective of universal proportions and symbols. The book also has extensive tables, World Wide Web links and bibliographic references for those whose interest and curiosity has been sparked by the hands-on, experiential majority of the book. It is a reference for serious students of geometry and its omnipresent purpose. This is a newer, perfect bound version of the book which has also been available in a spiral-bound version since 1997.
Book Synopsis The Oxford Handbook of the History of Mathematics by : Eleanor Robson
Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of the History of Mathematics written by Eleanor Robson and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2008-12-18 with total page 927 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Handbook explores the history of mathematics under a series of themes which raise new questions about what mathematics has been and what it has meant to practise it. It addresses questions of who creates mathematics, who uses it, and how. A broader understanding of mathematical practitioners naturally leads to a new appreciation of what counts as a historical source. Material and oral evidence is drawn upon as well as an unusual array of textual sources. Further, the ways in which people have chosen to express themselves are as historically meaningful as the contents of the mathematics they have produced. Mathematics is not a fixed and unchanging entity. New questions, contexts, and applications all influence what counts as productive ways of thinking. Because the history of mathematics should interact constructively with other ways of studying the past, the contributors to this book come from a diverse range of intellectual backgrounds in anthropology, archaeology, art history, philosophy, and literature, as well as history of mathematics more traditionally understood. The thirty-six self-contained, multifaceted chapters, each written by a specialist, are arranged under three main headings: 'Geographies and Cultures', 'Peoples and Practices', and 'Interactions and Interpretations'. Together they deal with the mathematics of 5000 years, but without privileging the past three centuries, and an impressive range of periods and places with many points of cross-reference between chapters. The key mathematical cultures of North America, Europe, the Middle East, India, and China are all represented here as well as areas which are not often treated in mainstream history of mathematics, such as Russia, the Balkans, Vietnam, and South America. A vital reference for graduates and researchers in mathematics, historians of science, and general historians.
