This book was released on 2002 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Formation and Applications of the Sedimentary Record in Arc Collision Zones by : Amy E. Draut
Download or read book Formation and Applications of the Sedimentary Record in Arc Collision Zones written by Amy E. Draut and published by Geological Society of America. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Inspired by a GSA Penrose Conference held in 2005 (cosponsored by the International Association of Sedimentologists and the British Sedimentological Research Group), the 17 papers in this volume explore sedimentary environments in arc collision zones and their utility in recording the evolution of modern and ancient convergent margins. The first set of papers in the collection focuses on formation and evolution of the sedimentary record in arc settings and arc collision zones, concentrating on modern intra-oceanic examples. Papers include studies of flexural modeling and factors that affect development of siliciclastic and carbonate deposits around modern arcs. The second half of the volume presents new applications of arc sedimentary records. These relate primarily to constraining tectonic events in the evolution of arc systems, but also concern the links among tectonic uplift, collision, and geomorphic and climatic feedback mechanisms in arc collision zones."--Publisher's website.

Book Synopsis The Cu-Au Chelopech Deposit, Panagyurishte District, Bulgaria by : Isabelle Chambefort
Download or read book The Cu-Au Chelopech Deposit, Panagyurishte District, Bulgaria written by Isabelle Chambefort and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Tethyan orogenic belt stretches from the Alps, through the Carpathians and Balkans, Taurides and Caucasus, Zagros, Makran, and Himalayas, to Indochina and into the southwest Pacific Ocean. It represents a complete Wilson Cycle, from opening and closure of the Paleotethys Ocean in the mid-Paleozoic to the Late Triassic, opening of the Neotethys Ocean in the Permian-Early Triassic, and its progressive closure throughout the late Mesozoic and Cenozoic eras. In this volume, we present a selection of papers that showcase this advancement in knowledge, with examples from Eastern Europe to South Asia.

Book Synopsis Continental Transpressional and Transtensional Tectonics by : Robert E. Holdsworth
Download or read book Continental Transpressional and Transtensional Tectonics written by Robert E. Holdsworth and published by Geological Society of America. This book was released on 1998 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many present-day and ancient continental deformation systems appear to have formed due to significantly oblique relative plate motions. Transpression and transtension zones are formed where the oblique motions involve components of compression and extensions, respectively. This book covers the recent advances in our understanding or transpressional and transtensional deformation zones both in theory and in real geological settings from around the world. The volume opens with an up-to-date overview of the topic that sets the scene for the more detailed papers which follow. The papers are grouped into four sections. The first, Modelling Transpression and Transtension, includes a series of papers that discuss theoretical strain models in the context of field examples and analogue experiments. The second section details the tectonic evolution of Continental Transform Zones and includes papers on the Dead Sea Transform, western USA and Chile. The third section, Oblique Divergence Zones, has papers on gravitational collapse in the Norwegian Caledonides and in SW North America, the break-up of Gondwana and a pull-apart basin in northern China. The final section on Oblique Convergence Zones, has case studies from Brazil, European Variscides, Antarctica, the Himalayas, the Sierra Nevada batholith and Italy.
Book Synopsis Sources and Evolution in Space and Time of Hydrothermal Fluids at the Cerro de Pasco Cordilleran Base Metal Deposit, Central Peru by : Regina Baumgartner
Download or read book Sources and Evolution in Space and Time of Hydrothermal Fluids at the Cerro de Pasco Cordilleran Base Metal Deposit, Central Peru written by Regina Baumgartner and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Macro- and microscopic and microanalytical tools have been used to characterize the two mineralization stage present at the Cordilleran Cerro de Pasco deposit. The first stage, comprising a large pyrite-quartz body followed by vertical pyrrhotite pipes zoned Zn-Pb ores bearing Fe-rich sphalerite is of predominantly low sulfidation states. The second mineralization stage is composed of enargite-pyrite veins and well zoned carbonate replacement bodies bearing Fe-poor sphalerite is of high to intermediate sulfidation states. U-Pb and 40Ar/39Ar dating reveals that the magmatic activity lasted 350 ky (15.40±0.07-15.16±0.03 Ma) and the second mineralization stage around 100 ky (14.54±0.08-14.41±0.07 Ma). Both mineralization stages precipitated from a two end-member fluid: a hot, non-saline isotopically exchanged fluid likely of meteoric origin (200°C) and a hot saline magmatic fluid (350-380°C, up to 8 wt% NaC1equiv.). A strong dilution of metal-rich saline magmatic fluids with isotopically exchanged meteoric water is postulated for the ore-forming fluids.
Book Synopsis Shallow Polymetallic and Precious Metal Mineralization Associated with a Miocene Diatremedome Complex by : Ronner Bendezu
Download or read book Shallow Polymetallic and Precious Metal Mineralization Associated with a Miocene Diatremedome Complex written by Ronner Bendezu and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ore characterization based mainly on microscopic and microanalytical methods allow to discriminate two type of epithermal mineralization in the Colquijirca district, central Peru: disseminated high sulfidation epithermal Au-(Ag) ores and sulfide-rich zoned cordilleran polymetallic deposits. High precision 40Ar/39Ar radiometric dating reveals that high sulfidation Au-(Ag) ores, formed from 11.9±0.07 to 11.10±0.06 Ma, predated cordilleran mineralization which formed from 10.83±0.06 to 10.59±0.06 Ma. Both systems entrained commonly strongly acidic fluids recorded by episodic precipitation of alunite derived from magmatic vapor plumes. Two end-member fluids are recognized in the Colquijirca system: a cold (
