Joseph Graham, youngest son of James Graham, was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, October 13, 1759. He came, when about seven years of age, with his mother to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He assisted in cultivating his mother's farm, and attended school in Charlotte. He was distinguished among his fellow students for talents, industry and the most manly and conciliating deportment. His thirst for knowledge led him at an early period to become well acquainted with all those interesting events which preceded and prepared for our Revolutionary struggle. At the age of fifteen years, while a student at Queen's Museum, he was present in Charlotte on the 20th of May, 1775, when the celebrated Declaration of Independence was formally made and published. The deep impressions made upon his mind by the solemn and momentous decisions of that day gave good evidence that he was then preparing for the noble stand which he took during the war. He prepared for J. Seawell Jones (he following account of the proceedings of that notable convention and attendant circumstances, which Mr. Jones published in his book, "The Defence of North Carolina" Vesuvius Fuknace, 4th October, 1830. Dear Sib: --Agreeably to your request, I will give you the details of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence on the 20th of May, 1775, as well as I can recollect after a lapse of fifty-five years. I was then a lad...

In this collection of essays, drawn from the 7th Micah Global Triennial Consultation in the Philippines, Christians from across the globe reflect on the church’s role in alleviating suffering and developing transformed communities. At the heart of these reflections is the topic of resilience and its role in Christian community, integral mission, and faith-based development work. Offering both theological frameworks and practical tools for the development of resilient communities, this book ignites a biblical passion for integrating justice and proclamation, witness and social concern, evangelism and community transformation. Relentless Love is a powerful reminder of Christ’s calling to join him in his work to bring wholeness, reconciliation, and redemption to the earth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Andrew Pickens (1739–1817), the hard-fighting South Carolina militia commander of the American Revolution, was the hero of many victories against British and Loyalist forces. In this book, Rod Andrew Jr. offers an authoritative and comprehensive biography of Pickens the man, the general, the planter, and the diplomat. Andrew vividly depicts Pickens as he founds churches, acquires slaves, joins the Patriot cause, and struggles over Indian territorial boundaries on the southern frontier. Combining insights from military and social history, Andrew argues that while Pickens's actions consistently reaffirmed the authority of white men, he was also determined to help found the new republic based on broader principles of morality and justice. After the war, Pickens sought a peaceful and just relationship between his country and the southern Native American tribes and wrestled internally with the issue of slavery. Andrew suggests that Pickens's rise to prominence, his stern character, and his sense of duty highlight the egalitarian ideals of his generation as well as its moral shortcomings--all of which still influence Americans' understanding of themselves.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Significant...This book is smart, instructive, valuable, and surprisingly moving." Dr. Joseph Graham, one of the world's most successful thinkers and planners, shares the hidden principles and systems that he's developed, refined, and used over the past twenty years to create unique results in both life and business--and which any person or organization can use and leverage to game out and help achieve success.Starting In 2000, Dr. Joseph W. Graham discovered a set of unique principles that have led to exceptionally effective thinking, which he describes as "context thinking". It is these principles, and not anything special about Dr. Graham--who grew up an ordinary kid in a rural community--that he believes are the reason behind his success. In Logistics & Supply Chain Management: In Multi-Domain Operations, Dr. Graham shares what he's learned over the course of his remarkable career. He argues that life, management, economics, underpinned by smart thinking can all be systemized into guiding rules of thumb and simply understood. The book's practical lessons, which are built around his cornerstones of "clear-eyed" insight, include Dr. Graham laying out the most effective and efficient ways for individuals and organizations to make decisions, approach challenges, and mitigate risks. He also describes the innovative tools leaders use to bring a plan to life, such as creating "color-codes" for all that distill weighted strengths and weaknesses for decision-making. Logistics & Supply Chain Management: In Multi-Domain Operations also offers a straightforward approach to decision-making and problem-solving that Dr. Graham believes anyone can use to get the right results in complex environments.More importantly, here, from a man who has had a ring-side seat with some of the leading thinkers of this modern age, and who from an early age has been call "the General', is a rare opportunity to gain proven-insightful-forward looking advice unlike anything you'll find anywhere.Get your copy today!
