I have placed the price of the work-at a figure which will enable me to pay the cost of publication onlv; and it is easilv worth the price to anyone to whom it is worth anything at all. As it is for mv children and my possible remote descendants, it has been to me strictly a labor of love; and I have no hope of ever being reimbursed for even the expense I have gone to in collating and publishing it, much less for the time I have devoted to it. The edi tion, though limited to 100 copies, is more than I expect to sell, and the book has been gotten up, as to the quality of paper and bind ing, with a view to durability. There is no good reason whv a book constructed merlranieallv as this one is, with careful handling and barring accidents, should not last for several centuries.
