Download or read book Fluidized-Bed Reactors: Processes and Operating Conditions written by John G. Yates and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-27 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fluidized-bed reactor is the centerpiece of industrial fluidization processes. This book focuses on the design and operation of fluidized beds in many different industrial processes, emphasizing the rationale for choosing fluidized beds for each particular process. The book starts with a brief history of fluidization from its inception in the 1940’s. The authors present both the fluid dynamics of gas-solid fluidized beds and the extensive experimental studies of operating systems and they set them in the context of operating processes that use fluid-bed reactors. Chemical engineering students and postdocs as well as practicing engineers will find great interest in this book.
Book Synopsis Fluidized Bed Combustion by : Simeon Oka

Book excerpt: A realization of recent clean energy initiatives, fluidized bed combustion (FBC) has quickly won industry preference due to its ability to burn materials as diverse as low-grade coals, biomass, and industrial and municipal waste. Fluidized Bed Combustion catalogs the fundamental physical and chemical processes required of bubbling fluidized beds before launching into application-centered coverage of hot-gas generator, incinerator, and boiler concepts and design, calculations for regime parameters and dimensions, and all aspects of FBC operation. It enumerates the environmental consequences of fluidized bed processes and proposes measures to reduce the formation of harmful emissions.
Book Synopsis Circulating Fluidized Beds by : J.R. Grace
Download or read book Circulating Fluidized Beds written by J.R. Grace and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 599 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the late 1970s there has been an explosion of industrial and academic interest in circulating fluidized beds. In part, the attention has arisen due to the environmental advantages associated with CFB (circulating . fluidized bed) combustion systems, the incorporation of riser reactors employing cir culating fluidized bed technology in petroleum refineries for fluid catalytic cracking and, to a lesser extent, the successes of CFB technology for calcina tion reactions and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. In part, it was also the case that too much attention had been devoted to bubbling fluidized beds and it was time to move on to more complex and more advantageous regime,S of operation. Since 1980 a number of CFB processes have been commercialized. There have been five successful International Circulating Fluidized Bed Confer ences beginning in 1985, the most recent taking place in Beijing in May 1996. In addition, we have witnessed a host of other papers on CFB funda mentals and applications in journals and other archival publications. There have also been several review papers and books on specific CFB topics. However, there has been no comprehensive book reviewing the field and attempting to provide an overview of both fundamentals and applications. The purpose of this book is to fill this vacuum.

Book Synopsis Volatiles Combustion in Fluidized Beds. Final Technical Report, 4 September 1992--4 June 1995 by :
Download or read book Volatiles Combustion in Fluidized Beds. Final Technical Report, 4 September 1992--4 June 1995 written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal of this project is to investigate the conditions in which volatiles will burn within both the dense and freeboard regions of fluidized beds. Experiments using a fluidized bed operated at incipient fluidization are being conducted to characterize the effect of particle surface area, initial fuel concentration, and particle type on the inhibition of volatiles within a fluidized bed. A review of the work conducted under this grant is presented in this Final Technical Report. Both experimental and theoretical work have been conducted to examine the inhibition of the combustion by the fluidized bed material, sand. It has been shown that particulate phase at incipient fluidization inhibits the combustion of propane by free radical destruction at the surface of sand particles within the particulate phase. The implications of these findings is that at bed temperatures lower than the critical temperatures, gas combustion can only occur in the bubble phase or at the top surface of a bubbling fluidized bed. In modeling fluidized bed combustion this inhibition by the particulate phase should be included.

Download or read book Fast Fluidization written by and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1994-12-23 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last decade, circulating fluidization or fast fluidization has developed rapidly, superseding standard bubbling fluidization in many applications; for example, fast fluidization provides a better means forcontrolling emissions from the combustion of high-sulfur fuels and excels when used in boilers in steam plant and power stations. China initiated the study of fast fluidization in the early 1970s. Focusing on the substantial research cultivated in that country, with Kwauk at the leading edge, this latest volume in the Advances in Chemical Engineering Series is written in the context of the international state of the art and addresses some of the most vital issues surrounding this fluidization method."

Book Synopsis Diameter-Transformed Fluidized Bed by : Youhao Xu
Download or read book Diameter-Transformed Fluidized Bed written by Youhao Xu and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-06-05 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book puts forward the concept of the Diameter-Transformed Fluidized Bed (DTFB): a fluidized bed characterized by the coexistence of multiple flow regimes and reaction zones, achieved by transforming the bed into several sections of different diameters. It reviews fundamental aspects, including computational fluid dynamics simulations and industrial practices in connection with DTFB. In particular, it highlights an example concerning the development of maximizing iso-paraffins (MIP) reactors for regulating complex, fluid catalytic cracking reactions in petroleum refineries. The book is a must-have for understanding how academic and industrial researchers are now collaborating in order to develop novel catalytic processes.
