Book Synopsis Fungicides in Crop Protection by : H. G. Hewitt
Download or read book Fungicides in Crop Protection written by H. G. Hewitt and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1998 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plant pathogenic fungi cause damage to the world's crop production that is valued at many millions of dollars annually. The main means of control is through chemical fungicides, even though these may now be used as part of a more general strategy of integrated pest management, including biological control. New fungicides continue to be developed by agrochemical companies, especially when resistance from pathogens develops to existing formulations. There is therefore a continuing need for information on fungicides in crop protection. This book provides a concise and balanced review of fungicides and their application to crop protection. An unusual feature is the provision of a perspective from the manufacturing industry, including discussion of the global market for fungicides, and the discovery and development process. The perspectives of the farmer and the consumer are also considered. Other major topics addressed include fungicide mode of action, resistance, legislation governing usage and the use of biotechnology and natural products. The book is aimed at advanced undergraduates and graduate students in plant pathology, as well as advisors, extension workers and new recruits to the agrochemical industry.
Download or read book Fungicides written by Paul De Costa and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Antimicrobial agents, called fungicides, sporicides or biocides have long been used to control, prevent and remediate microbial growth. Currently public concern about the impact of pesticides, including fungicides, on human health is greater than ever before. Pesticides are essential in agricultural production, but they constitute a potential risk to humans who are exposed to them directly through various ways and indirectly through diet. In vitro techniques used to study in vitro metabolism and interactions are briefly described in this book, summarising the metabolic and kinetic properties of selected fungicides. Different analytical methods are reported in the literature for the analysis of fungicides. Developments in the methods devoted to fungicide analysis in environmental samples over the past 15 years are also looked at. In addition, biological contaminants, especially mould in buildings, which are known to act as sources of indoor air pollution, discomfort, asthma and pulmonary disease in building occupants and antimicrobial treatments of indoor mould and bacteria are reviewed. Finally, this book shows the current situation of the analysis of fungicide residues in environmental, biological and food samples, describing the analytical methods used for their determination.

Download or read book Fungicides written by Mizuho Nita and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2013-05-15 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comprised of three sections that focus various aspects of fungicide usages and its consequences. In the eight-chapter first section, authors discuss implementation of Integrated Plant Disease Management on a wide array of crops grown in different parts of the world: wheat productions in Argentina and in the US; corn, cotton and Eucalyptus productions in Brazil; rice productions in India; peanut productions in the southern US; and pine seedling nurseries in Serbia. The second section is composed of two chapters that explore the possibility of natural products as fungicides. The final section discusses two interesting and important topics on the fungicide-fungus interaction that can influence the implementation of plant disease management practices, fungicide resistance and hormesis.
Book Synopsis Chemistry and Mode of Action of Crop Protection Agents by : Leonard G Copping
Download or read book Chemistry and Mode of Action of Crop Protection Agents written by Leonard G Copping and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the chemistry and mode of action of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and plant growth regulators. It follows crop protection strategies from early discoveries to the present day, emphasising the biochemical targets of the compounds discussed. Chemistry and Mode of Action of Crop Protection Agents provides an in-depth, yet easy to read and understand, review of the major classes of pesticides, explaining also the basis of their activity and selectivity. Throughout, there are many references to allow the reader to pursue areas of special interest, and each chapter contains questions to ensure that the text has been understood. This is the first book on the mode of action of pesticides to have been published in over ten years, and as such will have a very wide audience. It is aimed primarily at graduate level but will also be relevant to the needs of some sixth form and undergraduate courses, as well as to industrialists and advisors in the field of crop protection.

Book Synopsis Metabolic Pathways of Agrochemicals by : Terry R Roberts
Download or read book Metabolic Pathways of Agrochemicals written by Terry R Roberts and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 1502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important publication provides a comprehensive summary of data and information on the metabolism and chemical degradation of agrochemicals in soils, plants and animals. Part 1, Herbicides and Plant Growth Regulators, and Part 2, Insecticides and Fungicides, together provide a major bibliography, as each entry is fully referenced. Contents include metabolic products, pathways and mechanisms, together with useful details on physico-chemical properties and mode of action. Both parts are organised by class of chemical for easy reference. There are separate entries for each pesticide, covering most commercially available chemicals in use today. In addition, an overview of the metabolism of each major class provides the reader with an informed summary of key similarities and significant differences between individual chemicals. Information is based primarily on literature from the past 40 years of research, together with some important, previously unpublished work provided by the agrochemical companies. Presented in a systematic, easy-to-read style, with extensive indexing to facilitate the rapid location of required information and the comparison of related compounds, Metabolic Pathways of Agrochemicals is an invaluable reference for chemists, biochemists and biologists working in the discovery, development and registration of agrochemicals, as well as scientists in related areas such as design and mode of action of pharmaceuticals.
