Book Synopsis Mössbauer Spectroscopy Applied to Magnetism and Materials Science by : G.J Long
Download or read book Mössbauer Spectroscopy Applied to Magnetism and Materials Science written by G.J Long and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book represents Volume 2 in a series on the use of Mossbauer spectroscopy in the study of magnetism and materials. However, the perceptive reader will notice some differences from Volume 1. Specifically, in order to market the book at a more affordable price for most universities and research laboratories, the book has been prepared in camera ready format The editors and the authors agreed to do this because there is a demand for such a book in the Mossbauer community. This format has placed an extra burden on the editors and the authors and we hope we have overcome all the difficulties generated by the transfer of files between different computers. In order to make the book more attractive to materials scientists who are not experts in Mossbauer spectroscopy, this volume is particularly oriented towards the study of materials by Mossbauer spectroscopy and related complementary techniques, such as neutron scattering and a variety of surface scattering techniques. The authors of this volume can be proud of the high quality professional effort they have devoted to clearly presenting their specific topics. As a result we very much enjoyed working with the authors on this volume. We hope that their effort will help to educate the next generation of Mossbauer effect spectroscopists, a generation which will face the challenge of maintaining equally high scientific and professional standards in their research work.
Book Synopsis Concerted European Action on Magnets (CEAM) by : I.V. Mitchell
Download or read book Concerted European Action on Magnets (CEAM) written by I.V. Mitchell and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 910 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The beneficial impact of the European communities involvement in scientific research and technology is wide-ranging and pervasive. There are high hopes of major advances in scientific knowledge and technological processes, while the emergence of a genuine tradition of collaborative research holds out great and continuing promise for the future. Close, frequent and long-term cooperation between universities, research centres and industry is already generating new synergies, forging a truly European scientific community. Many of tomorrows industrial developments, destined to be determinant for our economic success and prosperity, will spring from this research. The Concerted European Action on Magnets - CEAM - project is a prime example of collaborative research and development. Financed from the Communities STIMULATION action and implemented with the help of EURAM, the advanced materials programme, CEAM will bestow great benefits on European industrial competitiveness, providing a channel for high quality basic research to find its way into commercial products. This remarkable cooperative enterprise brought t~gether 58 laboratories and more than 120 scientists and englneers in a sustained thirty month effort. It spanned every aspect of new iron-based high performance magnets from theoretical modelling of their intrinsic magnetic properties to the design and construction of novel electrical devices and machines. Besides adding a new European dimension to advanced magnetic technology, CEAM also ensured that a whole new generation of young researchers and technicians have been trained in applied magnetism.

Book Synopsis Electrical Engineering - Volume II by : Kit Po Wong
Download or read book Electrical Engineering - Volume II written by Kit Po Wong and published by EOLSS Publications. This book was released on 2009-11-30 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electricity is an integral part of life in modern society. It is one form of energy and can be transported and converted into other forms. Throughout the world electricity is used to light homes and streets, cook meals, power computers and run industrial plants. Electricity is so integrated with our way of living that electricity consumption per person is used to measure the levels of economic development of countries. Any disruptions to electricity supply or blackouts will lead to huge financial loss and threats to lives well-being in the community. Electrical engineering is the profession and study of generating, transmitting, controlling and using electrical energy. It offers a wide range of exciting opportunities to those looking for a fulfilling, challenging and professional career. Electrical engineers are the designers of modern electrical machinery, power systems, transportation and communication systems. They work in various sectors of the community as well including the building industry, the manufacturing industry, the construction industry, consultancy services, technology development, education services as well as government. In these volumes, the essential aspects and fundamentals of electrical engineering are presented. In depth knowledge of various areas of electrical engineering are disseminated by learned scholars in their fields. It is hoped that readers will find all the writings comprehensive, informative and interesting. It is further hoped that these fundamentals will assist the readers to study advanced topics in electrical engineering. If the readers are electrical engineers themselves, it is hoped that the articles will broaden their horizon in electrical engineering and provide them with the necessary knowledge to further their profession as electrical engineers.

Book Synopsis Amorphous Metallic Alloys by : BURTON
Download or read book Amorphous Metallic Alloys written by BURTON and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amorphous Metallic Alloys covers the preparation and properties of alloys produced by rapid quenching from the molten state. This book focuses on three technologically important classes of magnetic amorphous alloy—transition metal-metalloid (TM-M) alloys, rare earth-transition metal (RE-TM) alloys, and transition metal-zirconium or hafnium alloys (TM-Zr-Hf). The melt-quenched transition metal-metalloid and transition metal-zirconium type alloys are also emphasized. This text likewise explains in detail how amorphous atomic structure affects magnetic, mechanical, chemical, corrosion, and electrical characteristics. Other topics include glass forming ability in metallic materials, scattering theory of amorphous metals, dynamics of inhomogeneous plastic flow, and powder production processes. This publication is intended for students and researchers conducting work on amorphous metallic alloys.
