Book excerpt: The comedian and Internet star shares her experiences with family, sexuality, mental health, friendship & love in this New York Times–bestselling memoir. The wildly popular YouTube personality, star of Food Network’s I Hart Food, and author of the New York Times–bestseller My Drunk Kitchen is back! This time, she’s stirring up memories and tales from her past. By combing through the journals that Hannah has kept for much of her life, this collection of narrative essays deliver a fuller picture of her life, her experiences, and the things she’s figured out about family, faith, love, sexuality, self-worth, friendship and fame. Revealing what makes Hannah tick, this sometimes cringe-worthy, poignant collection of stories is sure to deliver plenty of Hannah’s wit and wisdom, and hopefully encourage you to try your hand at her patented brand of reckless optimism. With a New Afterword by the Author “By turns hilarious and heartbreaking, Hannah Hart’s new book is a roaring, beautiful, and profoundly human account of an extraordinary life.” —John Green “Hannah shares her truth with an honesty that is inspiring—one that makes me believe her when she says that it’s going to get better or that laughter is just around the corner or that you aren’t alone.” —Jenny Lawson, #1 New York Times–bestselling author of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened and Furiously Happy “The topics are grim, but there is kindness in her story, and, most significantly, humor. Fans will be pleased that other stars such as comedian Grace Helbig make guest appearances, and, like a true role model, Hart uses her platform to raise awareness of the shortcomings of the current U.S. medical system in treating mental health.” —Publishers Weekly

Book Synopsis Precoding Techniques for Digital Communication Systems by : C.-C. Kuo
Download or read book Precoding Techniques for Digital Communication Systems written by C.-C. Kuo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-09-18 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past two decades, many communication techniques have been developed to achieve various goals such as higher data rate, more robust link quality, andmoreusercapacityinmorerigorouschannelconditions.Themost well known are, for instance, CDMA, OFDM, MIMO, multiuser OFDM, and UWB systems. All these systems havetheir ownunique superioritywhile they also induce other drawbacks that limit the system performance. Conventional way to overcome the drawback is to impose most of the computational e?ort in the receiver side and let the transmitter design much simpler than receiver. The fact is that, however, by leveraging reasonable computational e?ort to the transmitter, the receiver design can be greatly simpli?ed. For instance, multiaccess interference (MAI) has long been considered to limit the perf- mance of multiuser systems. Popular solutions to mitigate MAI issue include multiuser detection (MUD) or sophisticated signal processing for interference cancellation such as PIC or SIC. However, those solutions impose great b- den in the receiver. In this case, precoding o?er good solutions to achieve simple transceiver designs as we will mention later in this book. This book is intended to provide a comprehensive review of precoding techniques for digital communications systems from a signal processing p- spective. The variety of selected precoding techniques and their applications makes this book quite di?erent from other texts about precoding techniques in digital communication engineering.

Book Synopsis The Highway Capacity Manual: A Conceptual and Research History Volume 2 by : Elena S. Prassas
Download or read book The Highway Capacity Manual: A Conceptual and Research History Volume 2 written by Elena S. Prassas and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-08 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1950, the Highway Capacity Manual has been a standard used in the planning, design, analysis, and operation of virtually any highway traffic facility in the United States. It has also been widely used around the globe and has inspired the development of similar manuals in other countries. This book is Volume II of a series on the conceptual and research origins of the methodologies found in the Highway Capacity Manual. It focuses on the most complex points in a traffic system: signalized and unsignalized intersections, and the concepts and methodologies developed over the years to model their operations. It also includes an overview of the fundamental concepts of capacity and level of service, particularly as applied to intersections. The historical roots of the manual and its contents are important to understanding current methodologies, and improving them in the future. As such, this book is a valuable resource for current and future users of the Highway Capacity Manual, as well as researchers and developers involved in advancing the state-of-the-art in the field.
