Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “I am not a civil rights hero. I am a warrior, and I am on a mission from God.” —James Meredith James Meredith engineered two of the most epic events of the American civil rights era: the desegregation of the University of Mississippi in 1962, which helped open the doors of education to all Americans; and the March Against Fear in 1966, which helped open the floodgates of voter registration in the South. Part memoir, part manifesto, A Mission from God is James Meredith’s look back at his courageous and action-packed life and his challenge to America to address the most critical issue of our day: how to educate and uplift the millions of black and white Americans who remain locked in the chains of poverty by improving our public education system. Born on a small farm in Mississippi, Meredith returned home in 1960 after nine years in the U.S. Air Force, with a master plan to shatter the system of state terror and white supremacy in America. He waged a fourteen-month legal campaign to force the state of Mississippi to honor his rights as an American citizen and admit him to the University of Mississippi. He fought the case all the way to the Supreme Court and won. Meredith endured months of death threats, daily verbal abuse, and round-the-clock protection from federal marshals and thousands of troops to became the first black graduate of the University of Mississippi in 1963. In 1966 he was shot by a sniper on the second day of his “Walk Against Fear” to inspire voter registration in Mississippi. Though Meredith never allied with traditional civil rights groups, leaders of civil rights organizations flocked to help him complete the march, one of the last great marches of the civil rights era. Decades later, Meredith says, “Now it is time for our next great mission from God. . . . You and I have a divine responsibility to transform America.”

Book excerpt: This illuminating history explores the complex relationship between mathematics, religious belief, and Victorian culture. Throughout history, application rather than abstraction has been the prominent driving force in mathematics. From the compass and sextant to partial differential equations, mathematical advances were spurred by the desire for better navigation tools, weaponry, and construction methods. But the religious upheaval in Victorian England and the fledgling United States opened the way for the rediscovery of pure mathematics, a tradition rooted in Ancient Greece. In Equations from God, Daniel J. Cohen captures the origins of the rebirth of abstract mathematics in the intellectual quest to rise above common existence and touch the mind of the deity. Using an array of published and private sources, Cohen shows how philosophers and mathematicians seized upon the beautiful simplicity inherent in mathematical laws to reconnect with the divine and traces the route by which the divinely inspired mathematics of the Victorian era begot later secular philosophies.

Book excerpt: In this follow-up to the popular Pictures of God, John Skinas introduces children to some of the ancient icon archetypes most treasured by Orthodox Christians--from the Icon Not Made by Hands to the Pantocrator of Sinai. From God to You follows the path of the icon through history and encourages children to mindfully consider icons and their stories as windows of inspiration and doorways to prayer. "Burned, smashed, and buried, icons have endured a great deal as they've made their way from God to you. They've reached you because He wants them in your church, in your home, and in your hands. But most of all, God wants you to keep His image in your heart, where, if you listen closely, you can hear His message with every beat. . . ."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of the bestselling novel The Shack and the New York Times bestsellers Cross Roads and Eve comes a compelling, conversational exploration of twenty-eight assumptions about God—assumptions that just might be keeping us from experiencing His unconditional, all-encompassing love. In his wildly popular novels, Wm. Paul Young portrayed the Triune God in ways that challenged our thinking—sometimes upending long-held beliefs, but always centered in the eternal, all-encompassing nature of God’s love. Now, in Wm. Paul Young’s first nonfiction book, he invites us to revisit our assumptions about God—this time using the Bible, theological discussion, and personal anecdotes. Paul encourages us to think through beliefs we’ve presumed to be true and consider whether some might actually be false. Expounding on the compassion fans felt from the “Papa” portrayed in The Shack—now a major film starring Sam Worthington and Octavia Spencer—Paul encourages you to think anew about important issues including sin, religion, hell, politics, identity, creation, human rights, and helping us discover God’s deep and abiding love.

Through Jesus Christ we can claim our ownership to the kingdom of heaven. I dedicate this book of God to guide Christians and non-Christians for their search and pursuit for the truth. I suggest that you select one each day, at random and you might find that it is the right one for whatever situation you are experiencing on that very day. When it comes to prayer and our quiet time with God, most of us simply want to talk -- to tell God about all of our hopes, desires, painful hurts and sorrows. While God desperately wants to hear from us, once in a great while someone comes along to remind us again that more of our time with God should be spent listening rather than talking. Agnes Davis has accomplished that in From Gods Mouth to My Ears. What a gift she has provided to us as she shares her deepest moments with God! I have found these brief devotionals to be uplifting, encouraging, and challenging. This is a much needed work that many of us have searched for for a long time. Rev. Joe A. Walker

But learning to recognize God's voice and the many ways in which He speaks is vital for following His plan. In How to Hear from God, Joyce Meyer shows readers that God reaches out to people every day, seeking a partnership with them to offer guidance and love. She reveals the ways in which God delivers His word and the benefits of asking God for the sensitivity to hear His voice. Joyce asks the question, "Are you listening?" and shares how to do just that.

It is intended to bring comfort to the reader. Fear is the devils weapon, our God is a God of peace and love. Jesus came to set us free. It is up to us to step into that freedom, and to learn to walk in that freedom. Our reverence for God and his holiness will set us apart from the world. You are Gods favorite, and so am I, we walk in that favor. Mercy is good, but favor is better, lets walk in his favor.
