Book excerpt: This book examines modern paradigms of disease control based on social network surveillance applications, including electronic sentinel surveillance and wireless application-based surveillance science. It also highlights topics that integrate statistical and epidemiological sciences with surveillance practice and, in order to reflect the evolution of social networking practices, discusses topics concerning the challenges for surveillance theory and practice. In turn, the book goes a step further by providing insights on how we need to analyse epidemiological trends by following best practices on distinguishing useful information from noise, namely fake news, false reporting of disease incidents and events, etc. At the same time, we need to be able to protect health-focused applications and communication tools via cybersecurity technologies and to ensure that anonymity of reporting and privacy are preserved. In closing, the book discusses the role and impact of social media on disease surveillance, as well as the current role of communities in infectious disease surveillance and control.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides essential information and recent findings on hydro-environmental issues in the Lower Danube River, particularly its hydrological and hydromorphological processes; physico-chemical features; climate and water-related hazards; and not only the biodiversity and quality but also the sustainable management and governance of its hydro-environment. Accordingly, it presents a broad range of scientific information on the lower sector of the second-longest river in Europe, which holds major economic importance and has been severely impacted by human pressures, especially since the second part of the last century. The engineering works (e.g. dams, reservoirs, levees, channelization, etc.) on the Danube and its tributaries, despite their benefits to society, have altered its flow and significantly reduced its sediment load, with consequences for hydromorphological processes and aquatic ecosystems. These ecosystems have also been affected by pollution from various sources. To promote sustainable management of the Danube River and its watershed, several strategies and measures have been developed by a number of institutions, from the European level to the national and regional levels (commissions, national authorities, non-governmental organizations, etc.). Compared to the upper and middle sectors of the Danube, the lower sector has received less attention in the international scientific literature in terms of hydro-environmental issues. The book fills this gap and provides current and original insights and findings from recent studies conducted by scientists from three countries drained by the Lower Danube River and its tributaries: Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia. This unique book will be of great scientific interest to professional engineers, policy planners and policymakers in the three countries mentioned above, helping them to implement their own sustainable development plans. It also offers a valuable resource for graduate students, researchers and stakeholders.

Book excerpt: This book presents a vital method for companies to connect with potential clients andconsumers in the digital era of Online Social Networks (OSNs), utilizing the strengthof well-known social networks and AI to achieve success through fostering brandsupporters, generating leads, and enhancing customer interactions. There are currently 4.8 billion Online Social Network (OSN) users worldwide. Online Social Networks in Business Frameworks presents marketing through online social networks (OSNs), which is a potent method for companies of all sizes to connect with potential clients and consumers. If visitors are not on OSN sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, they are missing out on the fact that people discover, learn about, follow, and purchase from companies on OSNs. Excellent OSN advertising may help a company achieve amazing success by fostering committed brand supporters and even generating leads and revenue. A type of digital advertising known as social media marketing (SMM) makes use of the strength of well-known social networks to further advertise and establish branding objectives. Nevertheless, it goes beyond simply setting up company accounts and tweeting whenever visitors feel like it. Preserving and improving profiles means posting content that represents the company and draws in the right audience, such as images, videos, articles, and live videos, addressing comments, shares, and likes while keeping an eye on the reputation to create a brand network, and following and interacting with followers, clients, and influencers.
