Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In "From Rave to Revelation: A Journey of Faith Renewed," readers embark on an intimate journey through the raw and unfiltered reflections of a seasoned preacher who has undergone a profound spiritual transformation. This compelling first-hand account vividly narrates a tumultuous path through a maze of highs and lows, doubts and affirmations, stale rituals, and fresh encounters with the divine. Spanning over two decades of ministry, from the early 90s to a pivotal turning point in 2008, we walk through the preacher's self-professed "dead years" - a time characterized by disconnection and disillusionment where rituals felt empty and God seemed far away. Despite the external successes, the noisy crowds, and the arduous travels across the nation, a void lingered - a longing for something more real and tangible. The narrative takes a transformative turn as desperation gives birth to a fierce resolve to seek a deeper, more authentic connection with God. With heart-wrenching honesty, the preacher shares the relentless pursuit of the divine - a journey of pressing in and crying out for a fresh touch from heaven. It's a story of waiting, of persisting, and finally, of experiencing an unprecedented revelation that breathed life into dry bones and ignited a spirit of revival not just in the preacher, but in a whole community. Readers will be captivated by the vibrant depictions of a spiritual awakening that takes shape within the preacher's small but faithful congregation. It's a testimony to the power of unity, of prayer, and of the open heavens that can pour out when we dare to break free from religious complacency and denominational barriers to embrace a God who is ever pursuing us. As the preacher navigates the newfound freedom in Christ, glimpses of vibrant ministry moments come alive in the pages - a stirring tapestry of miraculous healings, prophetic utterances, and individuals being touched in profound ways. We witness a church that evolves from being inward-focused to one that reaches beyond its four walls, impacting the wider community and even drawing attention from the nation. Yet, at the heart of "From Rave to Revelation" is the preacher's authentic voice - a voice that pulsates with a vibrant rhythm of "hallelujahs" and a heartbeat synchronized with the divine, leading readers on a roller-coaster of emotional peaks and valleys as it seeks to articulate an indescribable encounter with God. A clarion call to all who yearn for spiritual authenticity, this book is not just a testimony but a beckoning, urging readers to step beyond the familiar, to dare to press in closer, to break free from the chains of ritual and religion, and to embark on a personal journey of faith renewed. It's an invitation to experience the transcendent joy that comes from a living, breathing relationship with God - a journey from rave to revelation.

Book excerpt: At age seventeen, Shawn Fanning designed a computer program that transformed the Internet into an unlimited library of free music. Tens of millions of young people quickly signed on, Time magazine put Fanning on its cover, and his company, Napster, became a household name. It did not take long for the music industry to declare war, one that has now engulfed the biggest entertainment and technology companies on the planet. For All the Rave, top cyberculture journalist Joseph Menn gained unprecedented access to Fanning, other key Napster and music executives, reams of internal e-mails, unpublished court records, and other resources. The result is the definitive account of the Napster saga, for the first time revealing secret take-over and settlement talks, the unseen role of Shawn’s uncle in controlling Napster, and hidden agendas and infighting from Napster’s trenches to the top ranks of the German media giant Bertelsmann. All the Rave is a riveting account of genius and greed, visionary leaps and disastrous business decisions, and the clash of the hacker and investor cultures with that of the copyright establishment. Napster left a generation of music fans feeling that paying the recording industry close to twenty dollars for a CD was a foolish and unnecessary extravagance, which provoked a still-growing backlash against digital media consumers that might leave them with less control than ever. Here is the inside story of the young visionary and the company that made it happen. From the Hardcover edition.

Book excerpt: The Apocalypse or Book of Revelation is one of the most frequently discussed books of the biblical canon and arguably one of the most difficult to interpret. This volume contains three texts as examples of late ancient Christian interpretation of its intriguing visions. It also includes a comprehensive introduction to each text by its respective translator. Brief Explanations of the Apocalypse by Cassiodorus (c. 580), translated by Francis X. Gumerlock from Latin and published in English for the first time in this volume, served as an introduction to the Book of Revelation for Cassiodorus’s students at the Vivarium, a monastery in southern Italy. Cassiodorus divided the Apocalypse into 33 sections, corresponding to the age of Jesus at his Passion, and expressed his belief that John’s visions were revelations of the end of the world, including the Second Coming of Christ for judgment, the defeat of the Antichrist, the general resurrection, and the arrival of the heavenly Kingdom. Testimonies of Gregory the Great on the Apocalypse, translated from Latin by Mark DelCogliano and also published here for the first time in English, is a collection of 55 excerpts on the Apocalypse from the writings of St. Gregory the Great (d. 604) compiled by an anonymous author. Drawn mainly from Gregory’s Moralia, but also from his Book on Pastoral Care and homilies, the excerpts, which are arranged from Revelation 1.4 to 22.17, illustrate Gregory’s grammatical exegesis of the Apocalypse, his interpretation of various figures in the Apocalypse, and his attempt to reconcile certain passages in the Apocalypse with seemingly contradictory texts from other parts of Scripture. The anonymous Greek Scholia on the Apocalypse contains 39 exegetical notes on chapters 1-14 of the Apocalypse, which reveal influences of Origen and Didymus the Blind, among others. The notes provide “spiritual” interpretations of the various passages and give attention to the interpretation of certain words that appear in the Book of Revelation. This new translation from the Greek by T. C. Schmidt utilizes all the Greek editions. Furthermore, its introductory matter contains updates on the Scholia from the latest scholarship and compares each scholion with interpretations found in various patristic authors, mainly of Alexandrian heritage.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The charisma of prophecy is found throughout the history of the global Pentecostal movement. Within the movement, prophecy is seen as the communication of an inspired, spontaneous revelation, bringing edification to the faith community. Despite its prevalence, academic research has mostly focused on the biblical-theological aspect, neglecting the actual contemporary practice. This book addresses this gap with a study on the practice of prophecy within the Assemblies of God of Singapore. The book investigates the nature, purpose, and significance of the phenomenon. It also identifies theological variables that are correlated with its practice and explicates these relationships. The investigation employs the empirical-theological method of Johannes van der Ven, utilizing both a qualitative and a quantitative study. The results provide a rich description of the actual reception, delivery, and judging of prophecy. Significant findings include relationships between prophecy and courage, love, personality types, prayer types, and evangelism.

These four volumes record the visions of the famous 19th-century Catholic mystic; Ven. Anne Catherine Emmerich; a nun who was privileged to behold innumerable events of biblical times; going back all the way to the creation of the world. She witnessed the fall of the Angels; the sin of Adam; Noe and the Flood; the lives of St. John the Baptist; St. Anne; St. Joseph; the Blessed Virgin Mary; and St. Mary Magdalen. Also includes the birth; life; public ministry; Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ; as well as the founding of His Church. Besides describing persons; places; events and traditions in intimate detail; Anne Catherine Emmerich also sets forth the mystical significance of these visible realities.
