Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As everyone knows, a poem is a fleeting moment in someones life . An event , a comment a funny shaped cloud ANYTHING can suddenly happen and then an idea forms in the poets mind and something is suddenly born. It might take another day of rewrites before the final effort is considered worth presenting to the friends and family of the poet . Iff the general concensus is favourable then the piece may be presented to the world . The contents of this book are composed of a large number of different happenings A lot of the poems have been liked and produced in separate publications but this is the first time all of them have been put together in one place so that the world can like or dislike them . Some are controversial some with tongue in cheek . some serious and a few written after the death of someone very dear , downright miserable . All have been written following a particular happening in the life of the author . To me a poem is a written thought . A fleeting idea put down on paper, a daydream made real .

Book Synopsis A Little Frog's Heart: The First Steps Towards Maturity by : George Vîrtosu
Download or read book A Little Frog's Heart: The First Steps Towards Maturity written by George Vîrtosu and published by Elefant Online. This book was released on 2016-06-14 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To read a book, to go page after page through a comic, even to watch a film, very much resembles the adventure of travelling down a road. When the book has several volumes, when a multitude of secondary stories cross with the main story, the road seems to be full of adventures; because you have a long way to go, surrounded by miraculous landscapes, you have many surprising detours to make, you have to walk over bridges and viaducts. This is the situation with the present cycle, that of the “Little Frog’s Heart“, about which I am more and more convinced that it is written “for all the ages“, that is, not only for my grandchildren, but even for grandparents like myself. In this volume, the Drop of Blood we met in the first book seems to be tired and would like to get some rest. The Flea and the little Silk Worm, for a change, seem to be not just well rested, but also so curious and talkative that they do not fall silent even once over the course of three hundred pages or so. The Flea, who is older and more experienced, tells the little Worm a multitude of miraculous stories, only asking the Worm not interrupt him! As if that’s what’s going to happen! As if you can make such a minuscule, yet so lively a creature ask not just hundreds, but thousands of questions! Just like any other child, the little Worm is full of “whys“, and the Flea, despite his feigned discontent, strives to answer them all. And so we find, together with the little Worm, a multitude of things about dreams and their interpretation, about the wisdom of fleas, about what happened to the horned cattle, or about the power of memories. But, above all, the memorable story may be the more lengthy story, which crosses some of those already mentioned, about the burial of the Old Rat, former master of the Flea and his family. As in other parts of this cycle, what is completely impressive here is the way in which the mythological elements, some connected to primitive, folkloric Christianity, some connected to paganism, are introduced in this somehow “realist“ story, even if it is written in the key of the fantastic and the miraculous. For the reader, irrespective of age as I realise now, reading these volumes is surely a pleasure. For the young reader, for the very young, for those who do not read yet but are read to, this is also a sort of “book of teachings“ through which readers can explain to themselves even those things which go above the first layer of understanding. On the other hand, they can make contact with the ethical dimension of our experience in this world. Congratulations to the author, and I wish good progress to the readers of all ages; as for me, I am waiting. Waiting for the next volumes, I mean. – Liviu Antonesei, 9 June 2011, Iași

Book Synopsis The Terror Beneath by : Scott Malthouse
Download or read book The Terror Beneath written by Scott Malthouse and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2024-10-24 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigative roleplaying game of horrors both ancient and modern, inspired by the works of Arthur Machen and powered by the GUMSHOE system. Britain at the dawn of the 20th century. In the depths of the countryside, cults celebrate ancient rites in hidden clearings and caverns, beasts of legend emerge from their lairs to prey upon the unwary, and powerful beings of folklore and myth stir once more. In the urban sprawl of London and other cities, secret societies struggle for power and dominance, rogue alchemists pursue occult ambitions, and scientists fuse modern technology with ancient mysticism to create new horrors. This is the world of The Terror Beneath, an investigative roleplaying game inspired by the works of the master of horror, Arthur Machen. It is into this world that players will step as unwitting investigators, plucked from amongst an oblivious populace by fate, malice, or blind fortune and set against the machinations of hidden cults, the creations of mad scientists, or the unknowable motives of ancient terrors. The Terror Beneath is powered by the GUMSHOE roleplaying system, designed specifically to tell stories of mystery and investigation. With less emphasis on finding clues and more on interpreting them correctly, an investigation never stalls due to a critical clue being missed, but gives the heroes all the information they need to keep moving inexorably towards the horrors at the heart of the plot...
