Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The question of whether and how people who have not had the chance to hear the gospel can be saved goes back to the beginnings of Christian reflection. It has also become a much-debated topic in current theology. In Will Many Be Saved? Ralph Martin focuses primarily on the history of debate and the development of responses to this question within the Roman Catholic Church, but much of Martin's discussion is also relevant to the wider debate happening in many churches around the world. In particular, Martin analyzes the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, the document from the Second Vatican Council that directly relates to this question. Contrary to popular opinion, Martin argues that according to this text, the conditions under which people who have not heard the gospel can be saved are very often, in fact, not fulfilled, with strong implications for evangelization.

Ten years later, life does not look the way she expected. Instead of staying home, she’s the primary breadwinner while her husband raises their kids. Together, they’ve weathered miscarriages, job changes, role reversals, community shifts, family vacations, and even youth league recreational soccer. Now, in the midst of their tenth year of marriage, temptations saunter in and threaten to shake everything they’ve built together to the ground. In American Honey, Wells digs in deep to uncover the foundation of what made her and what it is that will help sustain her relationships. What keeps a marriage together? Could it fall apart? Through intimate details, vulnerability, humor, and love, Wells explores the depths of mercy and faith it’s going to take to weather the storms of married life.

Book excerpt: Manifesto: "a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer." The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) is Jesus' most definitive statement of the principles of Kingdom living. In this study we'll seek to understand Jesus' radical teaching within its context of first century Judaism - then translate the principles into our own lives today. If we can understand what Jesus meant and absorb that into our spirit, we can grow to become the kind of disciples that make Him proud. The Sermon on the Mount provides an ethical and philosophical framework that can help us order our lives as Christ followers. But organized religion has domesticated Jesus and watered down his message, providing a low-dose familiarity that can make us immune to Jesus' full-strength teaching. Here we allow Jesus' uncompromising message to both shame us and enflame us to become part of a Christ-committed counter-culture to challenge the present world order. This examination of Jesus' manifesto in the Sermon on the Mount, with its provocative discussion questions, provides an excellent 13-lesson study for personal enrichment, for use by small groups and classes, and for sermon preparation by teachers and preachers.

Book excerpt: The book content is about seeing the relationship between the narrow way and birth canal and to understand why Jesus said it is difficult and only a few people have found it. Every existing thingmen and animalsmade their entrance into the world through the birth canal, an exit into Gods kingdom must absolutely require a rebirth. The rebirth requires passing through a womb-like environment. In relation to the birth canal, infant passage through it only allows one at a time, even though there could be a twin or triplets in the womb. As the womb is necessary for the infants preparation to make entrance into the world, so is being born again necessary for the adult believer, who must be prepared to exit into Gods kingdom. The believers age makes no difference. Neither does how long a person has been born again make any difference. This preparation to enter Gods kingdom is what the author calls a 360 U-turn.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1517, Martin Luther took a stand for justification by faith alone in the finished work of Christ upon Calvary. As a result of his position, he suffered persecution for adhering to the Scriptures alone and not to traditions. This book traces my spiritual journey from legalism to freedom in Christ. In sixteen chapters, I map out my heritage within the Churches of Christ and the motivations that eventually led me out of bondage to liberty. One of the lengthiest chapters in this book is "Where the Scriptures Speak." One objective of this chapter is to help individuals to understand that one may speak where the Bible speaks and not necessarily speak as the Bible speaks. Chapters 11, 12, and 13 represent the very heart of my escape from authoritarianism to my dependence upon God's righteousness, a righteousness from God through faith in Jesus. Chapter 14 focuses on preaching in the early church. Without an understanding of the Gospel that the apostles proclaimed, Christians will never learn the spirit of toleration for differences within the Christian community. Chapters 8, 15, and 16 give attention to the Last Supper. The communion should be a constant reminder of the Cross and true unity among God's children. Chapter 1, 2, and 3 outline my original journey of faith. Dallas Burdette has been a serious student, teacher and preacher of the Bible for fifty-eight years, supporting himself for many years as an agent for AFLAC. He has written numerous articles for religious journals, as well as many essays and sermons which are available on his website. He has developed a keen interest in promoting unity among God's people through a more accurate reading of the Word. He has degrees from Amridge University (formerly Southern Christian University) where he also was Director of Extended Learning for five years. He holds the Doctor of Ministry degree (1999) from Erskine Theological Seminary.

"The Workbook on the Ten Commandments will help them be displayed in the one place that matters: your life." Small groups looking for Bible study that meets real life will welcome this skillfully presented study of the Ten Commandments. Biblical context and contemporary application are woven throughout eight weeks of study. Reflection questions draw the reader deeper into God's purpose for each commandment in our lives today. A clearly outlined group meeting plan caps each week. These sessions include community-building exercises, time for singing hymns and discussion, and time to pray together.
