Book Synopsis Advanced Free Radical Reactions for Organic Synthesis by :
Download or read book Advanced Free Radical Reactions for Organic Synthesis written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-01-14 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Free radical reactions have become increasingly important and a very attractive tool in organic synthesis in the last two decades, due to their powerful, selective, specific, and mild reaction abilities. Advanced Free Radical Reactions for Organic Synthesis reviews information on all types of practical radical reactions, e.g. cyclizations, additions, hydrogen-atom abstractions, decarboxylation reactions. The book usefully provides experimental details for the most important reactions as well as numerous references to the original literature. By covering both the fundamentals and synthetic applications it is therefore suitable for both new and experienced researchers, chemists, biochemists, natural product chemists and graduate students. This title is the definitive guide to radical chemistry for all scientists. Introduces and reviews the use of radicals to perform synthetic transformations Practical details are provided for the most important methods Numerous references to the original literature

Book Synopsis The Kinetic Investigation of the Free-Radical Addition by : Michael Silaev
Download or read book The Kinetic Investigation of the Free-Radical Addition written by Michael Silaev and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Five reaction schemes are suggested for the initiated nonbranched-chain addition of free radicals to the multiple bonds of the unsaturated compounds. The proposed schemes include the reaction competing with chain propagation reactions through a reactive free radical. The chain evolution stage in these schemes involves three or four types of free radicals. One of them is relatively low-reactive and inhibits the chain process by shortening of the kinetic chain length. Based on the suggested schemes, nine rate equations (containing one to three parameters to be determined directly) are deduced using quasi-steady-state treatment. These equations provide good fits for the nonmonotonic (peaking) dependences of the formation rates of the molecular products (1:1 adducts) on the concentration of the unsaturated component in binary systems consisting of a saturated component (hydrocarbon, alcohol, etc.) and an unsaturated component (olefin, allyl alcohol, formaldehyde, or dioxygen). The unsaturated compound in these systems is both a reactant and an autoinhibitor generating low-reactive free radicals. The energetics of the key radical-molecule reactions is considered.

Book Synopsis The Chemistry of Pincer Compounds by : David Morales-Morales
Download or read book The Chemistry of Pincer Compounds written by David Morales-Morales and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-08-11 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pincer complexes are formed by the binding of a chemical structure to a metal atom with at least one carbon-metal bond. Usually the metal atom has three bonds to a chemical backbone, enclosing the atom like a pincer. The resulting structure protects the metal atom and gives it unique properties. The last decade has witnessed the continuous growth in the development of pincer complexes. These species have passed from being curiosity compounds to chemical chameleons able to perform a wide variety of applications. Their unique metal bound structures provide some of the most active catalysts yet known for organic transformations involving the activation of bonds. The Chemistry of Pincer Compounds details use of pincer compounds including homogeneous catalysis, enantioselective organic transformations, the activation of strong bonds, the biological importance of pincer compounds as potential therapeutic or pharmaceutical agents, dendrimeric and supported materials. * Describes the chemistry and applications of this important class of organometallic and coordination compounds* Covers the areas in which pincer complexes have had an impact* Includes information on more recent and interesting pincer compounds not just those that are well-known
