Download or read book Frammenti di costruzioni written by Gregotti Associati and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Skira's Library of Architecture Series now includes an entry for one of the standard bearers for modern Italian architecture and design, Gregotti Associati. Founded by Vittorio Gregotti, Gregotti Associati has worked on everything from broad urban renewal plans to corporate offices, to art exhibitions, even yacht design. The Gregotti sites in this "field guide" include public housing projects, university buildings, stadiums, and cultural centers across the Europe. The elegantly designed sketchbook of 30-plus projects clearly demonstrates why Gregotti Associati is included among the firms leading the construction of the new Peggy Guggenheim museum in Venice, and why Europeans look to Gregotti as the exemplar of modernism.

Download or read book Alessandro Anselmi Frammenti di Futuro written by Rosetta Angelini and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-12-02 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Versione in Bianco e nero.
Download or read book Butrint 7 written by David Hernandez and published by Oxbow Books. This book was released on 2020-12-14 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume brings together unpublished Italian and Albanian archaeological reports and new archaeological studies from recent fieldwork that throw new light on the archaeology and history of the Pavllas River Valley, the Mediterranean alluvial plain in the territory of Butrint, ancient Buthrotum, in southwestern Albania. It gives prominence for the first time to two important sites, Kalivo and Çuka e Aitoit, which are here reinterpreted and shown to have played major roles in the early history of Butrint as it evolved in the later first millennium BC to emerge as the key city of Chaonia in Epirus. Butrint 7 also presents the full excavation report of the Late Bronze Age and Hellenistic fortified site of Mursi, in addition to other Butrint Foundation surveys and excavations in the hinterland of Butrint, including the Roman villa maritima at Diaporit, the villa suburbana on the Vrina Plain, and Roman sites on Alinura Bay and at the Customs House, as well as new surveys of the early modern Triangular Fortress and a survey to locate the lost Venetian village of Zarópulo. The volume also features a new study of the Hellenistic bronze statuette of Pan found on Mount Mile and of his sanctuary at Butrint. The volume concludes with a comprehensive reassessment of the Pavllas River Valley in relation to Butrint, from the Palaeolithic to the modern eras, examining how dominion, territory, environment and the ‘corrupting sea’ reshaped Butrint and its fluvial corridor diachronically and particularly brought profound territorial, economic and social alterations under the Roman Empire.

Book Synopsis Deliciae Fictiles V. Networks and Workshops by : Patricia Lulof
Download or read book Deliciae Fictiles V. Networks and Workshops written by Patricia Lulof and published by Oxbow Books. This book was released on 2019-09-16 with total page 690 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Temples are the most prestigious buildings in the urban landscape of ancient Italy, emerging within a network of centres of the then-known Mediterranean world. Notwithstanding the fragmentary condition of the buildings’ remains, these monuments – and especially their richly decorated roofs – are crucial sources of information on the constitution of political, social and craft identities, acting as agents in displaying the meaning of images. The subject of this volume is thematic and includes material from the Eastern Mediterranean (including Greece and Turkey). Contributors discuss the network between patron elites and specialized craft communities that were responsible for the sophisticated terracotta decoration of temples in Italy between 600 and 100 BC, focusing on the mobility of craft people and craft traditions and techniques, asking how images, iconographies, practices and materials can be used to explain the organization of ancient production, distribution and consumption. Special attention has been given to relations with the Eastern Mediterranean (Greece and Anatolia). Investigating craft communities, workshop organizations and networks has never been thoroughly undertaken for this period and region, nor for this exceptionally rich category of materials, or for the craftspeople producing the architectural terracottas. Papers in this volume aim to improve our understanding of roof production and construction in this period, to reveal relationships between main production centres, and to study the possible influences of immigrant craftspeople.
Book Synopsis Megaproject Management by : Edoardo Favari
Download or read book Megaproject Management written by Edoardo Favari and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-05-20 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book investigates the various aspects characterizing Megaprojects from numerous perspectives and by integrating different disciplines: engineering, economics, business organization, human resource management, law, etc. It represents the first output of MeRIT (the Megaproject Research Interdisciplinary Team), and focuses on the intrinsic and unavoidable complexity of Megaprojects. The chapters have intentionally not been standardized, and humanistic topics are not separated from technical ones: this way of reading and interpreting Megaprojects through the cross-pollination of various disciplines reflects the MeRIT approach. Addressing the complexity involved in Megaprojects requires the use of a hermeneutic circle of sorts: understanding the project as a whole is achieved by referring to the specific parts, while each part can only be understood in relation to the whole. This circular approach appears to be the only one applicable to Megaprojects: no final destination, no final synthesis can be achieved. This volume consists of eight chapters written by researchers in law, economics, sociology, business organization, engineering, architecture and landscaping. The topics covered will be relevant to researchers, practitioners involved in the development of Megaprojects, and policymakers at the EU level.

Book Synopsis The Roman Forum by : Gilbert J. Gorski
Download or read book The Roman Forum written by Gilbert J. Gorski and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-06-11 with total page 465 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Roman Forum was in many ways the heart of the Roman Empire. Today, the Forum exists in a fragmentary state, having been destroyed and plundered by barbarians, aristocrats, citizens and priests over the past two millennia. Enough remains, however, for archaeologists to reconstruct its spectacular buildings and monuments. This richly illustrated volume provides an architectural history of the central section of the Roman Forum during the Empire (31 BCE–476 CE), from the Temple of Julius Caesar to the monuments on the slope of the Capitoline hill. Bringing together state-of-the-art technology in architectural illustration and the expertise of a prominent Roman archaeologist, this book offers a unique reconstruction of the Forum, providing architectural history, a summary of each building's excavation and research, scaled digital plans, elevations, and reconstructed aerial images that not only shed light on the Forum's history but vividly bring it to life. With this book, scholars, students, architects and artists will be able to visualize for the first time since antiquity the character, design and appearance of the famous heart of ancient Rome.

Download or read book Le scale modali per pianoforte written by Giustino Barletta and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-01-16 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
