Book Synopsis Composite Structures of Steel and Concrete by : Roger P. Johnson
Download or read book Composite Structures of Steel and Concrete written by Roger P. Johnson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-08-21 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to the theory and design of composite structures of steel and concrete. Material applicable to both buildings and bridges is included, with more detailed information relating to structures for buildings. Throughout, the design methods are illustrated by calculations in accordance with the Eurocode for composite structures, EN 1994, Part 1-1, ‘General rules and rules for buildings’ and Part 1-2, ‘Structural fire design’, and their cross-references to ENs 1990 to 1993. The methods are stated and explained, so that no reference to Eurocodes is needed. The use of Eurocodes has been required in the UK since 2010 for building and bridge structures that are publicly funded. Their first major revision began in 2015, with the new versions due in the early 2020s. Both authors are involved in the work on Eurocode 4. They explain the expected additions and changes, and their effect in the worked examples for a multi-storey framed structure for a building, including resistance to fire. The book will be of interest to undergraduate and postgraduate students, their lecturers and supervisors, and to practising engineers seeking familiarity with composite structures, the Eurocodes, and their ongoing revision.

Book excerpt: This book sets out the basic principles of composite constructionwith reference to beams, slabs, columns and frames, and theirapplications to building structures. It deals with the problemslikely to arise in the design of composite members in buildings, and relates basic theory to the design approach of Eurocodes 2, 3and 4. The new edition is based for the first time on the finalisedEurocode for steel/concrete composite structures.
Book Synopsis Contributions of Floor Slab in Reinforced Concrete Frame Structures by : Prachand Man Pradhan
Download or read book Contributions of Floor Slab in Reinforced Concrete Frame Structures written by Prachand Man Pradhan and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-06 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The usual two-dimensional analyses of frames are done by considering the floor slab loads along with various other loads. However, the actual presence of the slab is ignored in the analytical models. So, the real behavior of concrete structures is altered. Thus, the present study is done to determine the contributions of floor slab in concrete frames in terms of horizontal deflection, vertical deflection and torsional deflection. Floor slabs are cast monolithically with beams so its presence can not be ignored. Rigid links are modeled to get the real effect. Computer analyses are rigorously done for various loading conditions. Three types of frames are studied, one with slab, another with out slab and the third one with flange considerations. Finally, it is concluded that the slabs actually contribute in resisting lateral, vertical and torsional deflections of buildings significantly.

Book Synopsis Reinforced-concrete Slab-column Structures by : Andrzej Ajdukiewicz
Download or read book Reinforced-concrete Slab-column Structures written by Andrzej Ajdukiewicz and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1990 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a review of the whole field of flat plates and slab-column structures, also known as beamless structures, encompassing their analysis, design and detailed construction from both the theoretical and practical aspects. Methods of analysis and design for slabs and entire slab-column structures are compared and assessed both for elastic and post-elastic phases with recommendations for practical use. The review and comparison of the techniques of design for joints between slabs and columns together with test results presents the reader with a choice of applications. The outline of international construction solutions used in monolithic prefabricated structures, including lift-slab structures, includes examples of real buildings and provides a wealth of information for designers. An integral part of the book consists of tables and nomograms for the direct calculation of bending moments, deflections and support reactions in slabs locally supported.

Book Synopsis Assessment of R. C. Flat Slab Building by : Mohd Rizwan Bhina
Download or read book Assessment of R. C. Flat Slab Building written by Mohd Rizwan Bhina and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2013-08-29 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2013 in the subject Engineering - Civil Engineering, grade: B, , course: Master of technology - Structural Dynamics, language: English, abstract: Flat-Slab building is very popular from the aesthetic and architectural point of view. From functional aspect a flat-slab building is more efficient than a R.C. frame building. So, construction of Flat-Slab building is increasing also in high seismic zone. Sometimes international building codes remain silent about the seismic response of flat slab buildings. In this paper the response of Flat-Slab building and a normal symmetric R.C. frame building of same dimension have been studied for varying seismic intensities. Static, Response Spectrum, Pushover, and Time history analysis have been performed to assess the performance of the two buildings. The costs of construction for these two buildings have also been compared. An extensive study on lumped plasticity model as per FEMA 356 with varying position of plastic hinge and its effect on pushover curve has also discussed in the paper. The paper also comments on the plastic hinge pattern.
