Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is said that what is already known cannot be unknown, however much one wants to. This is just remembering what was once known. It appears in the form of this translation into English of four of the more than ten works originally authored by that great sage and savant Vidyadhiraja Sri Chatambi Swamikal (1853-1924) who lived about a hundred years ago in Kerala at a time when Kerala's society was in the grip of a vicious caste system. His was, arguably, the first and foremost voice that was raised against social inequalities and discrimination at that time. Although he was acclaimed as a man of great spiritual accomplishments, he was as much concerned about the evils that existed in society as was determined to fight them. A man of vast learning and great scholarship, he went about exposing fearlessly how history was being distorted and scriptures misinterpreted. The four works this compilation carries deal with subjects as different in content as errors in the early history of Kerala, the misinterpretation of the Vedas, the evils of the caste system, the importance of women in society, and a great exhortation in favour of non-violence.

Manami is sad to go, but even worse is that they are going to have to give her and her grandfather's dog, Yujiin, to a neighbor to take care of. Manami decides to sneak Yujiin under her coat and gets as far as the mainland before she is caught and forced to abandon Yujiin. She and her grandfather are devastated, but Manami clings to the hope that somehow Yujiin will find his way to the camp and make her family whole again. The post gained so much momentum that it was viewed by more than three million readers worldwide in its first year. At the request of many, Bronnie subsequently wrote a book, The Top Five Regrets of the Dying, to share her story. Bronnie has had a colourful and diverse life. By applying the lessons of those nearing their death to her own life, she developed an understanding that it is possible for everyone, if we make the right choices, to die with peace of mind. In this revised edition of the best-selling memoir that has been read by over a million people worldwide, with translations in 29 languages, Bronnie expresses how significant these regrets are and how we can positively address these issues while we still have the time. Book excerpt: R.S. Belcher, the acclaimed author of The Six-Gun Tarot and The Shotgun Arcana launches a gritty new urban fantasy series set in today's seedy occult underworld in Nightwise. In the more shadowy corners of the world, frequented by angels and demons and everything in-between, Laytham Ballard is a legend. It's said he raised the dead at the age of ten, stole the Philosopher's Stone in Vegas back in 1999, and survived the bloodsucking kiss of the Mosquito Queen. Wise in the hidden ways of the night, he's also a cynical bastard who stopped thinking of himself as the good guy a long time ago. Now a promise to a dying friend has Ballard on the trail of an escaped Serbian war criminal with friends in both high and low places—and a sinister history of blood sacrifices. Ballard is hell-bent on making Dusan Slorzack pay for his numerous atrocities, but Slorzack seems to have literally dropped off the face of the Earth, beyond the reach of his enemies, the Illuminati, and maybe even the Devil himself. To find Slorzack, Ballard must follow a winding, treacherous path that stretches from Wall Street and Washington, D.C. to backwoods hollows and truckstops, while risking what's left of his very soul . . . . It examines the escapist potentials for good and for ill in modern society - those fostered by commercial interests, and those maintained by individuals and groups as their form of resisting alienation.

Book excerpt: Historically, the United States has been viewed by generations of immigrants as the land of opportunity, where through hard work one can prosper and make a better life. The American Dream is perhaps the United States’ most common export. For many Americans, though, questions remain about whether the American Dream can be achieved in the twenty-first century. Americans, faced with global competition and increased social complexity, wonder whether their dwindling natural resources, polarized national and local politics, and often unregulated capitalism can support the American Dream today. This book examines the ideas and experiences that have formed the American Dream, assesses its meaning for Americans, and evaluates its prospects for the future.

Nurtured by a black sorceress, honed to a killing machine by an old Northern soldier, she murderously stalks the wasted landscape of southern Hyperborea with her servant, a former Imperial lady, whom she has freed from slavery. Despite her inexperience she looks indomitable until captured in battle by the barbarian horde that raped her land. Stripped naked before its duke and his concubine she seems lost. But in a mutually benficial bargain she is freed. Her growing fame as a warrior of demonic strength makes her a coveted prize for the slave market. The vain Cheon is about to see her wish to visit the Old Imperial Lands come true but not in the way she imagined. So begins the saga of Cheon who ultimately comes to hold the fate of a world in her hands: she must become the lone bringer of dawn or perish with all who will not join the forces of darkness.
