Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a religious institution whose members are the most devout and serious of any faith on earth. Those who are a part of this institution unquestionably believe in a god that directs their activities and they look to this deity with the ultimate hope of gaining his favor. They, unlike many of the people ascribed to the popular religions of today, have no doubt that their god lives and interacts with them. They see the favor their god bestows upon them. The riches and power gained through their piety actively demonstrates the reality of their god's existence. The precepts of their secretive religion are contra to that of the Judeo-Christian religion that values above all, love for their fellow man. They consider the people outside of their group inferior creatures, unworthy of their god, but necessary for manipulation towards the completion of their final objective. Through devotion, submission to the will of their god, and dedication to his secretive plan, they believe that they will achieve immortality and live in a coming golden age where their god will appear on earth and rule them in a new paradise of his design. Just as the Judeo Christian God gave His followers the Arc of The Covenant, which held great power, the god of the mystery religion has given his followers an object whose existence has been kept secret since the Middle Ages and whose power is beyond comprehension. This object grants absolute hegemony to those who possess it as well as the ability to increase supremacy through war and conquest. Throughout history, when men failed in their discernment of its power, it was transferred to others more worthy. This object still exits and is in the possession of an elite group who will do anything to protect it. This book reveals for the first time its history and the greatest secret of all, where it is hidden today.

Developed by noted linguist Leonard Bloomfield, the book is based on the alphabetic spelling patterns of English. Bloomfield offered an antidote to the idea that English is a difficult language to learn to read by teaching the learner to decode the phonemic sound-letter correlations of the language in a sequential, logical progression of lessons based on its spelling patterns. The learner is first introduced to the most consistent (alphabetic) vocabulary and then to increasingly less alphabetic and less frequent spelling patterns within a vocabulary of about 5,000 words.

Forty years ago, the hypothesis that underlying the bewildering variety of syntactic phenomena are general and unified structural patterns of unexpected beauty and simplicity gave rise to major advancements in the study of Dutch and Germanic syntax, with important implications for the theory of grammar as a whole. Jan Koster was one of the central figures in this development, and he has continued to explore the structure preserving hypothesis throughout his illustrious career. This collection of articles by over forty syntacticians celebrates the advancements made in the study of syntax over the past forty years, reflecting on the structural principles underlying syntactic phenomena and emulating the approach to syntactic analysis embodied in Jan Koster's teaching and research.

It was not so much the war, however, as a succession of tragic domestic events that brought a sad and lonely little girl called Phoebe into the care of Susie and Sammy Adams, reminding them of the entry of Rosie as a child into the lives of Boots and Emily. Much needed to be done to cure little Phoebe of her sadness, and it proved a difficult time for Susie and Sammy. Further shadows fell when news came that Tim was a prisoner of war, and that Japan had attacked the American fleet in Pearl Harbour and British bases in the Far East. But Boots's French-born daughter Eloise had her dearest wish come true when she married Colonel Lucas of the Commandos in Alexandria.

Book excerpt: Challenges the scientific theories on the establishment of civilization and technology • Contains 42 essays by 17 key thinkers in the fields of alternative science and history, including Christopher Dunn, Frank Joseph, Will Hart, Rand Flem-Ath, and Moira Timmes • Edited by Atlantis Rising publisher, J. Douglas Kenyon In Forbidden History writer and editor J. Douglas Kenyon has chosen 42 essays that have appeared in the bimonthly journal Atlantis Rising to provide readers with an overview of the core positions of key thinkers in the field of ancient mysteries and alternative history. The 17 contributors include among others, Rand Flem-Ath, Frank Joseph, Christopher Dunn, and Will Hart, all of whom challenge the scientific establishment to reexamine its underlying premises in understanding ancient civilizations and open up to the possibility of meaningful debate around alternative theories of humanity's true past. Each of the essays builds upon the work of the other contributors. Kenyon has carefully crafted his vision and selected writings in six areas: Darwinism Under Fire, Earth Changes--Sudden or Gradual, Civilization's Greater Antiquity, Ancestors from Space, Ancient High Tech, and The Search for Lost Origins. He explores the most current ideas in the Atlantis debate, the origins of the Pyramids, and many other controversial themes. The book serves as an excellent introduction to hitherto suppressed and alternative accounts of history as contributors raise questions about the origins of civilization and humanity, catastrophism, and ancient technology. The collection also includes several articles that introduce, compare, contrast, and complement the theories of other notable authors in these fields, such as Zecharia Sitchin, Paul LaViolette, John Michell, and John Anthony West.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bestselling author, Juliette N. Banks brings another sexy and powerful Dufort man to life in Forbidden Touch that will have you turning the pages and fanning your cheeks. She’s worked for him for over a year. He’s kept his hands clenched and eyes up. Until now. It’s becoming impossible for Fletcher to maintain his distance from his PR Manager, and single mom, Olivia. With flaming red hair and hips begging to be gripped, his need for her is overwhelming. Yet the company policy forbids him. He soon learns it’s not the only reason he should stay away. When her daughter is kidnapped, it’s up to Fletcher to get her back — and perhaps win Olivia’s heart in the process. A friends-to-lovers romance with spice and suspense! Forbidden Touch is the second installment in the Dufort Dynasty series - a billionaire romance. Part office romance, part forbidden romance, and a whole bunch of friends to lovers. It will appeal to anyone who loves steamy billionaire romances, with single moms, protective alpha types, and fated mates. Here’s what readers are saying about Forbidden Touch: “Fletcher is amazing. Just what you want to see in a billionaire romance. He’s a rich playboy that isn’t what the world makes him out to be. He’s sensitive, caring, and loyal. Easy to fall for. Did the book meet my expectations? No. It exceeded them. Most of the billionaire stuff I’ve read is not my cup of tea…these brothers, however, hold my interest and actually have me wanting the next story.’ – Kelly, E “Loved the protective, hero vibe. Making a dreamy man come to life on the pages? That's a fantastic accomplishment. It’s a five-star read and a five-star spice for me! I definitely appreciated the steamy and naughty office play time in this book.” -Terri D What people said about Sinful Duty (book one) "After checking out several books that were sitting on my Kindle, this one got my attention from the first few pages. I honestly wasn't sure about it since billionaire romances are usually a hit or miss for me, but this one turned out to be a hit. I hadn't read the blurb before diving in, so I really wasn't too sure what to expect from this story. I'll admit that a few chapters in, I thought that it might turn out to be another predictable billionaire/forced marriage romance, but it wasn't at all. Daniel Dufort is being blackmailed into marriage, but that's not entirely the focus of this story. It's when Daniel meets romance author Harper Kane at his Hawaii hotel that this story really takes off. The attraction between Daniel and Harper is instant, and it isn't long before Harper has Daniel questioning all of his priorities. This book is steamy, a little angsty, and has a touch of suspense to keep you turning the pages. Sinful Duty is the first book that I've read by Juliette N. Banks, and it's the first book in The Dufort Dynasty series, and I can't wait to read more. - Tammy, But First Let's Read (Bookstagrammer and Amazon top reviewer) Keywords: billionaire, ceo, office, alpha strong heroine, vampire romance, soul mates, fated mates, instalove, romance novel, sexy book, sexy romance book, steamy romance novel, friends to lover, mature heroine romance, alpha hero reads, military romance, instant love, romcom, romantic suspense, office romance, holiday romance, New York romance, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, alpha hero, alphahole, alpha hole, rejected mates, adventure romance, action romance series, military, military heroes, spicy romance, forbidden lovers, billionaire romance, five star romance, hot reads, mistaken mate, possessive heroes, dominant heroes, page-turner romance, sexy uniform, author romance, writer, danger, secret lover, Hawaii romance, tropical romance, romantic love story, passionate romance, sexy villains, mafia, bad boy romance, MC romance, dark romance, bdsm, taboo romance, billionaire, bad boy, love books, love stories, new adult, holiday, romantic novels, sexually romantic books, guaranteed HEA, no cliffhangers, happily ever after, bestseller, bestselling author If you love these authors, you’ll enjoy this series: Julia Kent, TL Swan, Sierra Rose, Meghan Quinn, Elizabeth O’Roark, Ava Gray, J.T. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1942 Norwegian Odd Nansen was arrested by the Nazis, and he spent the remainder of World War II in concentration camps—Grini in Oslo, Veidal above the Arctic Circle, and Sachsenhausen in Germany. For three and a half years, Nansen kept a secret diary on tissue-paper-thin pages later smuggled out by various means, including inside the prisoners' hollowed-out breadboards. Unlike writers of retrospective Holocaust memoirs, Nansen recorded the mundane and horrific details of camp life as they happened, "from day to day." With an unsparing eye, Nansen described the casual brutality and random terror that was the fate of a camp prisoner. His entries reveal his constantly frustrated hopes for an early end to the war, his longing for his wife and children, his horror at the especially barbaric treatment reserved for Jews, and his disgust at the anti-Semitism of some of his fellow Norwegians. Nansen often confronted his German jailors with unusual outspokenness and sometimes with a sense of humor and absurdity that was not appreciated by his captors. After the Putnam's edition received rave reviews in 1949, the book fell into obscurity. In 1956, in response to a poll about the "most undeservedly neglected" book of the preceding quarter-century, Carl Sandburg singled out From Day to Day, calling it "an epic narrative," which took "its place among the great affirmations of the power of the human spirit to rise above terror, torture, and death." Indeed, Nansen witnessed all the horrors of the camps, yet still saw hope for the future. He sought reconciliation with the German people, even donating the proceeds of the German edition of his book to German refugee relief work. Nansen was following in the footsteps of his father, Fridtjof, an Arctic explorer and humanitarian who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922 for his work on behalf of World War I refugees. (Fridtjof also created the "Nansen passport" for stateless persons.) This new edition, the first in over sixty-five years, contains extensive annotations and new diary selections never before translated into English. Forty sketches of camp life and death by Nansen, an architect and talented draftsman, provide a sense of immediacy and acute observation matched by the diary entries. The preface is written by Thomas Buergenthal, who was "Tommy," the ten-year-old survivor of the Auschwitz Death March, whom Nansen met at Sachsenhausen and saved using his extra food rations. Buergenthal, who later served as a judge on the International Court of Justice at The Hague, is a recipient of the 2015 Elie Wiesel Award from the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Book excerpt: Classic stories of science fiction featuring powered armor: Tales from the Golden Age through the current era featuring military, police, and civilians utilizing powered armor. Stories by Joe Haldeman, Christopher Ruocchio, Jason Cordova, and more! MEN, MACHINES, AND TOMORROW’S BATTLEFIELDS War is planned violence . . . or, at least, it starts out that way. And even if plans go awry, the violence is indispensable. Today’s soldiers have far more firepower on a per-man basis than the doughboys of a century ago, and there is no reason to believe that this trend will not extend into the future. Imagine a revival of suits of armor, but with structural strength undreamed of by medieval knights, and powered by built-in motors, giving each soldier the invulnerability of a tank, but even more mobility, and mechanical muscle strong enough to carry light artillery, rocket launchers, laser cannon, and weapons not even on the drawing boards yet. Add on the ability to fly, or at least jump for a kilometer at a time, using rocket boosters, or even powerful leg motors, or a combination of both. The stuff that superheroes are made of, hanging in every fighting man or woman’s closet, ready to wear. If it’s possible, history teaches us, it will be done. But don’t expect a nation or planet possessing such battalions of super-powered soldiers to not worry about attack by an enemy . . . there’s no reason why the enemy won’t have its own armored infantry. Keep the midnight oil burning and the R&D rolling. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek by expert dreamers putting the battle-hardened reader at the sharp end of tomorrow. At the publisher’s request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management). Praise for anthologies edited by Hank Davis and David Afsharirad: “This intriguing anthology explores the human race’s violent potential [but] also bends toward exploration and the triumph of the human spirit, with brave tales [that] take the reader on a fascinating, thoughtprovoking, enjoyable journey . . . ” —Publishers Weekly on The Year’s Best Military SF and Space Opera, starred review
