Book excerpt: Yesterday's Flight is a thought-catching time travel novel written by first-time English author, Martyn Ellington. Yesterday's Flight is a superb read with cleverly-written twist of events and takes the reader on an unexpected journey. When a Dinosaur fossil is unearthed in the Badlands of America the last thing Susan Lavey expected to see as the cause of death was the tail section of an airliner. Now together with Bruce Ackland, a chief air crash investigator, they must find out why and how this could have happened and what became of the passengers on board. William Relford was flying to yet another meeting, but this time it was to hand in his notice; he had worked in sales for as long as he liked to remember and now was the time for a change. But destiny has a way of changing things in ways we can't imagine, and now it was about to bring them all together in a race for the truth and for one of them: their very survival!

Book Synopsis Yesterday’S Reflections by : Albert F. Schmid
Download or read book Yesterday’S Reflections written by Albert F. Schmid and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2013-02-22 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Yesterdays Reflections, author Albert F. Schmid invites us to consider the various holidays that are celebrated throughout the year. He provides interesting facts about each holiday and includes the religious origins of them where relevant because many of our holidays have a religious connection. He also explains important points about the holidays, such as why Easter is always on a Sunday and why Thanksgiving is always on the fourth Thursday in November. In addition, he includes devotionals on topics ranging from Contentment to God Is Where Love Is. Each devotional includes the pertinent Scriptures, a story to illustrate the point being made, and Schmids comments. For example, The Rear View Mirror tells the story of Grace, who remembers her fathers advice for driving in the snow: find a snow plow and follow it. When she encounters a blizzard, she does this; an hour later, the driver stops to make certain she is all right, as he had plowed a large parking lot, was moving on to the next business, and was concerned when he noticed that she was following him. We often become comfortable thinking that we can just follow the snow plow when in truth we need to learn to trust God and let Him lead the way. Yesterdays Reflections is an inspiring collection that reminds us that we are Christs ambassadors and that God expects each of us to live and act as though He is making His appeal through us. The best sermons are not preached; they are lived.

I hope they will enjoy the stories and appreciate the struggles of a typical country family. Thanks to all the wonderful people who have encouraged me, and gave me the will to finish the second book. Without this I would not have continued. It has been a struggle but a wonderful trip. I want to acknowledge my good friend Budd Gavel. He has been my proof reader and advisor. Thank you Budd for your guidance and the laughter we shared along the way. I want to thank my son Kendall Taylor for his Cartoons and a Special thanks to Veterans affairs Canada for permission to use their photo of the old Airplane on the front cover. Thanks to the museum of industry in Stellarton Nova Scotia for letting me use a photo of their Shopmobile. I must express my sincere thanks to all the great people at Trafford Publishing. They have been very patient and understanding. Life is about friends, family, and kind support. I am very fortunate to have had all of this.

Due to bad visibility, the aircraft strikes a frozen lake's shoreline. It ends up severely damaged the woods. Although nobody is hurt, the chances of getting out and back to civilization are practically zero. Hit by roaring winds and freezing temperatures, they hope in vain for a search aircraft and subsequent rescue. After days, the situation becomes desperate, but then the pilot comes up with the idea that seems completely unreal. Although the Cessna aircraft's damage is substantial, he wants to get it back into the air. However, there is no help around. Hit by hunger and bitter cold, he works on a solution that might be disastrous.

Book excerpt: When a teen pilot witnesses a plane deliberately knocked out of the sky in what is supposed to be a friendly international air race, she must unravel the mystery before becoming a victim herself. A stunning new historical thriller from New York Times bestselling Elizabeth Wein. Europe, 1937. Stella North, who has learned to fly planes as a teen, has the opportunity to participate in a race across Europe for a hefty sum of prize money. The race is billed by its eccentric organizer, Lady Frith, as the "Circuit of Nations Olympics of the Air" and is designed to promote peace and sport among Europe’s young pilots; entrants must be under the age of 21. Europe pre-WWII is an unsettled and dangerous place: civil war is raging in Spain, Hitler is in power in Germany, Italy has embraced Fascism, and in the Soviet Union, anyone who speaks out against the government is ruthlessly imprisoned and executed. The air race is going to be an unusual propaganda event for many of the participants. Stella needs to be careful as she navigates her way across Europe’s troubled skies, not least because of her own family background (her parents were murdered during the Russian Revolution, and her aunt and uncle fled to Britain with her when she was only three.) Nevertheless, she is shocked when she witnesses one of the race’s participants using his plane to ram another pilot out of the sky. Early evidence points to the sullen and enigmatic French pilot, Tony Roberts, but he also claims that his own plane has been sabotaged. As events unfold, further evidence points to Stella herself — to outside eyes, it appears that she may be attempting to get rid of a competitor and pushing the blame onto her fellow racers. It’s up to Stella to unravel the mystery before she becomes the assassin’s next victim.
