Download or read book The Pressuremeter written by Jean-Louis Briaud and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-07-16 with total page 551 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This classic title deals presents all one needs to know about pressuremeter test, a soil and rock test used in civil engineering. It consists of placing a cylindrical probe in the ground and expanding the probe to pressurize the soil or the rock horizontally. The pressure on the soil and the relative increase in cavity radius are obtained and give an in situ stress strain curve. The pressuremeter test is repeated at various depths in order to obtain profiles of soil parameters. The design applications of the preboring pressuremeter test include: shallow foundations under vertical loads, deep foundations under vertical and horizontal loads, ground anchors, cantilever drilled shaft walls and anchored bulkheads, pavements, stone columns, ground improvement and compaction control.

Book Synopsis Factors Influencing Flexible Pavement Performance by : Robert L. Kondner
Download or read book Factors Influencing Flexible Pavement Performance written by Robert L. Kondner and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 824 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flexible pavement performance, as expressed by the present serviceability index (PSI) is related to local factors, such as surface course thickness, base course thickness, subbase course thickness, axle load and number of load applications. On the premise that functional pavement design should recognize the relationship between these factors and performance, data from 134 AASHO road test flexible pavement sections were examined for behavioral trends. This resulted in a mathematical expression on which it is theorized that performance, expressed in terms of PSI, can be incorporated into design procedures.
