All the centuries of searches for extra-terrestrial intelligence have turned up exactly nothing at all. And when humanity's first and only colony in another star system was recently invaded it was by unwanted human interlopers from Earth -- interlopers calling themselves The Fruitful, who are sure that God himself is guiding them. The new arrivals caused trouble enough that many of the original settlers have packed up and moved elsewhere on the planet -- only to discover some very alarming signs that the first settlers aren't quite so alone as they thought. Phil Bertrand and Hazel Castagna had striven for years to reach and settle their new world, only to find themselves on different sides when the Fruitful arrived and forced hard choices on everyone. Now, without quite intending it, they have become allies again, as well as the half-unwilling leaders of a group that must find a way to protect humans from aliens -- and, perhaps, aliens from humans. But exactly who -- and what -- are the aliens?

On Charley’s first night, Henry carries his new puppy in his old baby blanket all the way to his house. He shows Charley every room, saying, "This is home, Charley." He says that a lot so that Charley will know that he is home. Henry’s parents are very clear about who will be walking and feeding Charley (Henry will, and he can’t wait). They are also very clear about where Charley will be sleeping: Charley will be sleeping in the kitchen. But when the crying starts in the middle of the night, Henry knows right away that it’s Charley! And it looks like his parents’ idea about where Charley is going to sleep may have to change. With warmth, humor, and endearing simplicity, Amy Hest tells a tale familiar to everyone who has loved a puppy, while Helen Oxenbury renders each tender gesture and charming detail in a beauty of a book that children will be eager to take home.

Instead of accepting her resignation, the producer sends her on another assignment, this time for a story that carries some importance; at least in Texas. She heads to Mesquite to interview up-and-coming local boy, and favorite to win the bull riding nationals, Roy Myrick. A stroke of bad luck and Roy coming to her rescue later that evening finds her saying yes to a night of dancing. She falls in love with this handsome cowboy two steps at a time. And Noah is the only one who can help her. Forced into a situation that threatens both of their futures, Noah and Emma discover that what they thought the future held for both of them may not be what they actually want. His Lucky Charm - Billionaire Cowboy Romance Dayton is one of the South’s wealthiest cowboys. He gained his success from cattle ranching and is a rodeo boy at heart. Ronnie meets Dayton while doing an interview for a feature in the local paper on Dayton and it’s love at first sight for him. Ronnie’s curves and brown skin definitely catches his attention. Though he tries to impress Ronnie, he comes off as arrogant and leaves a bad impression, which is reflected in the feature Ronnie writes on him. In response, Dayton tracks Ronnie down to ask her on a date so that he might redeem himself in her eyes, and soon Ronnie realizes she is just as attracted to the cowboy as he is to her. Dayton decides to take Ronnie to one of his rodeos, where she acts as his good luck charm. But then a disaster occurs that no one could have foreseen. Will Dayton make it out of the rodeo alive, and will Ronnie? Will the two lovers ever get to express how they feel about each other and try for a chance at happily ever after?

Book excerpt: It’s the last-minute chance of a lifetime: photograph the World Rodeo Championships. There are only a couple of rules: don’t get in the way, don’t get trampled, and don’t get frisky with the cowboys. As if I need to be told. I tried that once when I was dumb, drunk, and eighteen, and no matter how good it felt I’m not about to make that mistake again. I’m here to make a name for myself, not become another buckle bunny. I’m a professional, and I don’t care how charming Jackson Cody, two-time World Rodeo Champion, might be. Even if it turns out he does remember our brief encounter all those years ago when I was dumb and drunk. And especially not if he wants to re-start right where we left off. It’s a terrible idea. This gig is the beginning of the rest of my life. A foot in the door. A way to prove I can be taken seriously, and Jackson is nothing more than pretty eyes, a cocky smile, and a mouth that makes the phrase yes ma’am sound absolutely filthy. Problem is, I know what else that mouth can do, and Jackson’s only gotten better with time. I’ve got a five-year plan. He barely thinks more than eight seconds ahead. But when he rides? Heaven. Ride is a high-heat standalone romance. It's for fans of cowboys and rodeos and anyone who likes a high-stakes, forbidden relationship, sneaking around in secret, bad boys who fall for good girls, or cocky playboys who fall hard. The hero's charming and sexy, the heroine's straight as an arrow, and together they practically combust. It's got lots of steamy scenes, lots of spice, and of course there's an HEA. This standalone is for fans of Jill Shalvis, Tessa Bailey, and Cora Seton.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • The triumphant true story of a woman who rode her horse across America in the 1950s, fulfilling her dying wish to see the Pacific Ocean, from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Perfect Horse and The Eighty-Dollar Champion “The gift Elizabeth Letts has is that she makes you feel you are the one taking this trip. This is a book we can enjoy always but especially need now.”—Elizabeth Berg, author of The Story of Arthur Truluv In 1954, sixty-three-year-old Maine farmer Annie Wilkins embarked on an impossible journey. She had no money and no family, she had just lost her farm, and her doctor had given her only two years to live. But Annie wanted to see the Pacific Ocean before she died. She ignored her doctor’s advice to move into the county charity home. Instead, she bought a cast-off brown gelding named Tarzan, donned men’s dungarees, and headed south in mid-November, hoping to beat the snow. Annie had little idea what to expect beyond her rural crossroads; she didn’t even have a map. But she did have her ex-racehorse, her faithful mutt, and her own unfailing belief that Americans would treat a stranger with kindness. Annie, Tarzan, and her dog, Depeche Toi, rode straight into a world transformed by the rapid construction of modern highways. Between 1954 and 1956, the three travelers pushed through blizzards, forded rivers, climbed mountains, and clung to the narrow shoulder as cars whipped by them at terrifying speeds. Annie rode more than four thousand miles, through America’s big cities and small towns. Along the way, she met ordinary people and celebrities—from Andrew Wyeth (who sketched Tarzan) to Art Linkletter and Groucho Marx. She received many offers—a permanent home at a riding stable in New Jersey, a job at a gas station in rural Kentucky, even a marriage proposal from a Wyoming rancher. In a decade when car ownership nearly tripled, when television’s influence was expanding fast, when homeowners began locking their doors, Annie and her four-footed companions inspired an outpouring of neighborliness in a rapidly changing world.

This book was released on 2001 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the frightening ways our prisons mirror the worst aspects of society-wide gender relations. It is part of the growing research on men and masculinities. The collection is unusual in that it combines contributions from activists, academics, and prisoners. The opening section, which features an essay by Angela Davis, focuses on the historical roots of the prison system, cultural practices surrounding gender and punishment, and the current expansion of corrections into the "prison-industrial complex." The next section examines the dominant or subservient roles that men play in prison and the connections between this hierarchy and male violence. Another section looks at the spectrum of intimate relationships behind bars, from rape to friendship, and another at physical and mental health. The last section is about efforts to reform prisons and prison masculinities, including support groups for men. It features an essay about prospects for post-release success in the community written by a man who, after doing time in Soledad and San Quentin, went on to get a doctorate in counseling. The contributions from prisoners include an essay on enforced celibacy by Mumia Abu-Jamal, as well as fiction and poetry on prison health policy, violence, and intimacy. The creative contributions were selected from the more than 200 submissions received from prisoners. Author note: Don Sabo, Professor of Social Sciences at D'Youville College in Buffalo, is author or editor of five books, most recently, with David Gordon, Men's Health and Illness: Gender, Power, and the Body and, with Michael Messner, Sex, Violence, and Power in Sports: Rethinking Masculinity. Sabo has appeared on The Today Show, Oprah, and Donahue. Terry A. Kupers, M.D., a psychiatrist, teaches at the Wright Institute in Berkeley. He is the author of four books, editor of a fifth. His latest books are Prison Madness: The Mental Health Crisis Behind Bars and What We Must Do About It and Revisioning Men's Lives: Gender, Intimacy, and Power. Kupers has served as an expert witness in more than a dozen cases on conditions of confinement and mental health services. Willie London, a published poet, is General Editor of the prison publication Elite Expressions. He is currently an inmate at Eastern Corrections. For nine years he was a prisoner at Attica.
