Book Synopsis Motion and Vibration Control by : Heinz Ulbrich
Download or read book Motion and Vibration Control written by Heinz Ulbrich and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-12-23 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Motion and vibration control is a fundamental technology for the development of advanced mechanical systems such as mechatronics, vehicle systems, robots, spacecraft, and rotating machinery. Often the implementation of high performance, low power consumption designs is only possible with the use of this technology. It is also vital to the mitigation of natural hazards for large structures such as high-rise buildings and tall bridges, and to the application of flexible structures such as space stations and satellites. Recent innovations in relevant hardware, sensors, actuators, and software have facilitated new research in this area. This book deals with the interdisciplinary aspects of emerging technologies of motion and vibration control for mechanical, civil and aerospace systems. It covers a broad range of applications (e.g. vehicle dynamics, actuators, rotor dynamics, biologically inspired mechanics, humanoid robot dynamics and control, etc.) and also provides advances in the field of fundamental research e.g. control of fluid/structure integration, nonlinear control theory, etc. Each of the contributors is a recognised specialist in his field, and this gives the book relevance and authority in a wide range of areas.

This book was released on 1997-03-18 with total page 651 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structural control offers opportunities to design new structures and to retrofit existing structures by the application of counter-forces, smart materials, frictional devices, etc., instead of just increasing the strength of the structure at greater cost. The Association for the Control of Structures (ACS) is promoting in Europe the development of this new technology in architectural design and infrastructure renewal and rehabilitation. The First European Conference on Structural Control was organized as one of the major initiatives toward this objective.

Download or read book IUTAM Symposium on Vibration Control of Nonlinear Mechanisms and Structures written by H. Ulbrich and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-28 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last decades, the growth of micro-electronics has reduced the cost of computing power to a level acceptable to industry and has made possible sophisticated control strategies suitable for many applications. Vibration c- trol is applied to all kinds of engineering systems to obtain the desired dynamic behavior, improved accuracy and increased reliability during operation. In this context, one can think of applications related to the control of structures’ vib- tion isolation, control of vehicle dynamics, noise control, control of machines and mechanisms and control of ?uid-structure-interaction. One could continue with this list for a long time. Research in the ?eld of vibration control is extremely comprehensive. Pr- lems that are typical for vibration control of nonlinear mechanisms and str- tures arise in the ?elds of modeling systems in such a way that the model is suitable for control design, to choose appropriate actuator and sensor locations and to select the actuators and sensors. Theobjective of the Symposium was to present anddiscuss methodsthat contribute to thesolution of such problems and to demonstrate the state of the art inthe ?eld shown by typical examples. The intention was to evaluate the limits of performance that can beachievedby controlling the dynamics, and to point out gaps in present research and give links for areas offuture research.Mainly, it brought together leading experts from quite different areas presenting theirpoints of view.

Book Synopsis Active Control of Structures by : Andre Preumont
Download or read book Active Control of Structures written by Andre Preumont and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-11-20 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With Active Control of Structures, two global pioneers present the state-of-the-art in the theory, design and application of active vibration control. As the demand for high performance structural systems increases, so will the demand for information and innovation in structural vibration control; this book provides an effective treatise of the subject that will meet this requirement. The authors introduce active vibration control through the use of smart materials and structures, semi-active control devices and a variety of feedback options; they then discuss topics including methods and devices in civil structures, modal analysis, active control of high-rise buildings and bridge towers, active tendon control of cable structures, and active and semi-active isolation in mechanical structures. Active Control of Structures: Discusses new types of vibration control methods and devices, including the newly developed reduced-order physical modelling method for structural control; Introduces triple high-rise buildings connected by active control bridges as devised by Professor Seto; Offers a design strategy from modelling to controller design for flexible structures; Makes prolific use of practical examples and figures to describe the topics and technology in an intelligible manner.

Book Synopsis Iterative Learning Control by : Zeungnam Bien
Download or read book Iterative Learning Control written by Zeungnam Bien and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Iterative Learning Control (ILC) differs from most existing control methods in the sense that, it exploits every possibility to incorporate past control informa tion, such as tracking errors and control input signals, into the construction of the present control action. There are two phases in Iterative Learning Control: first the long term memory components are used to store past control infor mation, then the stored control information is fused in a certain manner so as to ensure that the system meets control specifications such as convergence, robustness, etc. It is worth pointing out that, those control specifications may not be easily satisfied by other control methods as they require more prior knowledge of the process in the stage of the controller design. ILC requires much less information of the system variations to yield the desired dynamic be haviors. Due to its simplicity and effectiveness, ILC has received considerable attention and applications in many areas for the past one and half decades. Most contributions have been focused on developing new ILC algorithms with property analysis. Since 1992, the research in ILC has progressed by leaps and bounds. On one hand, substantial work has been conducted and reported in the core area of developing and analyzing new ILC algorithms. On the other hand, researchers have realized that integration of ILC with other control techniques may give rise to better controllers that exhibit desired performance which is impossible by any individual approach.

Book Synopsis Signal Processing for Active Control by : Stephen Elliott
Download or read book Signal Processing for Active Control written by Stephen Elliott and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2000-09-26 with total page 531 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Signal Processing for Active Control sets out the signal processing and automatic control techniques that are used in the analysis and implementation of active systems for the control of sound and vibration. After reviewing the performance limitations introduced by physical aspects of active control, Stephen Elliott presents the calculation of the optimal performance and the implementation of adaptive real time controllers for a wide variety of active control systems.Active sound and vibration control are technologically important problems with many applications. 'Active control' means controlling disturbance by superimposing a second disturbance on the original source of disturbance. Put simply, initial noise + other specially-generated noise or vibration = silence [or controlled noise]. This book presents a unified approach to techniques that are used in the analysis and implementation of different control systems. It includes practical examples at the end of each chapter to illustrate the use of various approaches. This book is intended for researchers, engineers, and students in the field of acoustics, active control, signal processing, and electrical engineering.
