Book excerpt: We present preliminary results on various aspects of charm baryon studies at the 1996-1997 fixed target experiment of Fermilab studying charm produced from incident [Sigma][sup -], proton, and [pi][sub -] beams at 600 GeV. First results include the comparison of hadroproduction asymmetries for [Lambda][sub c][sup +] production from the 3 beams as well xF distributions and the first observation of the Cabbibo-suppressed decay [Xi][sub c][sup +] [yields] pK[sup -][pi][sup +]. The relative branching fraction of the Cabbibo-suppressed mode to the 3-body Cabbibo-favored modes is also presented.

Book Synopsis Heavy Quarks at Fixed Target by : Harry W.K. Cheung
Download or read book Heavy Quarks at Fixed Target written by Harry W.K. Cheung and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 1999-03-04 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This conference provided a comprehensive overview of the areas where fixed target experiments made significant contributions so that experimenters could see what work was left to be done. Since experiments at colliders contribute strongly in many of these areas, the participation of collider experimenters was welcomed and this edition of the conference contains many contributions from the collider community. In order to try to cover the huge amount of physics included in studies of heavy quarks, many of the contributions are review types, including both theoretical and experimental overviews in seven different areas: CP violation and mixing; heavy ions; production dynamics and structure functions; hadronic decays; semileptonic and leptonic decays; spectroscopy; and rare and forbidden decays. This volume is divided into these seven areas of interest.

Book Synopsis Hadron Spectroscopy by : Eberhard Klempt
Download or read book Hadron Spectroscopy written by Eberhard Klempt and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2004-09-13 with total page 1006 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main topic of the conference was the physics of strong interaction and the understanding of how quarks form hadrons, which are part of the atomic nucleus. The proceedings give a comprehensive overview of the present status of the physics of hadrons. Topics include: mesons, baryons, scalars, exotics, heavy quarks, theoretical concepts, hadrons in matter, and reactions. The timing of the conference was very fortunate as many new and surprising results appeared in the months before its start. The highlights were the discussions about the nature of the recently discovered arrow states.

Book Synopsis Low-Energy Electrons by : Oddur Ingólfsson
Download or read book Low-Energy Electrons written by Oddur Ingólfsson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-04-23 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Low-energy electrons are ubiquitous in nature and play an important role in natural phenomena as well as many potential and current industrial processes. Authored by 16 active researchers, this book describes the fundamental characteristics of low-energy electron–molecule interactions and their role in different fields of science and technology, including plasma processing, nanotechnology, and health care, as well as astro- and atmospheric physics and chemistry. The book is packed with illustrative examples, from both fundamental and application sides, features about 130 figures, and lists over 800 references. It may serve as an advanced graduate-level study course material where selected chapters can be used either individually or in combination as a basis to highlight and study specific aspects of low-energy electron–molecule interactions. It is also directed at researchers in the fields of plasma physics, nanotechnology, and radiation damage to biologically relevant material (such as in cancer therapy), especially those with an interest in high-energy-radiation-induced processes, from both an experimental and a theoretical point of view.
