Book excerpt: The book depicts how 13 members of five Jewish families survived the Holocaust through their own ingenuity and the generosity of a poor Catholic farm family. All 13 Jews ended up living in a 9?x12?x4? underground hole as World War II raged around them. Some lived underground for about seven months before being liberated by the Russian Army. Dr. Michael Berenbaum, project director of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum (1988-1993) and author of The World Must Know: The History of the Holocaust as Told in the United States Memorial Holocaust Museum, says, ?Izzy's Fire is filled with the passion of one woman determined to do justice to the story of another woman who lived in hiding throughout the war years. The war has soul. One feels the intensity of the struggle to survive. One senses the decency of those who were ready to rescue and the evil that haunted a mother and father and their young child in the dangerous world they lived......

Book Synopsis Finding God, Finding Me by : Izzy Koo
Download or read book Finding God, Finding Me written by Izzy Koo and published by Kharis Publishing. This book was released on 2021-04-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finding God, Finding Me tells the powerful testimony of an ordinary, sixteen-year-old girl whose life changes after encountering God. This book is a window into her fears, struggles, and insecurities as a high schooler, and how God helped her find her identity, confidence, and so much more. Being a teenager herself, Izzy knows first-hand the challenges facing today's teenagers. She wants to use her transformation story to inspire and convict others to want to begin their journey of finding Christ - and ultimately find themselves in the process. Endorsement: I wish I had read Finding God, Finding Me back when I was in middle school, trying to figure out my faith for myself and what it meant to me. The way this book is broken up into sections of different qualities Izzy had discovered about herself through her God-given experiences is incredibly digestible for readers, young and old, who want to dive deeper into their relationship with God. I am usually not one to finish a book from start to finish in one sitting, but it felt as though I was reading through a diary of Izzy's life or having a mentor speak to me through conversation. It blows my mind that while God calls the most seasoned pastors to spread His word, He also uses mere teenagers to further His kingdom using the gifts He's blessed them with. Finding God, Finding Me is a beautiful testament to that truth, and I am confident that Izzy's writing will have the most eye-opening impact on those who get their hands on this book. -Yuna Song, Senior at Bellevue High School. About the Author: Izzy Koo is a high school student who is committed to helping others-especially youth-attain a deeper relationship with Christ. At sixteen, she started the "Project Encounter" movement-an international gathering of teenagers online to encourage one another through worship and testimonies. She believes strongly in teenagers inspiring other teenagers with their stories, which has led her to start a blog, compose songs, and release her first book.

Book excerpt: A biracial girl of divorced parents must navigate two different homes—and the dangers outside them—in this “timely but genuine” novel (Publishers Weekly). For eleven-year-old Isabella, splitting her time between her parents’ homes feels like living two different lives. One week she’s Izzy, living in a modest house with her mom. The next week she’s Isabella, living with her dad in a fancy house where they are one of the only black families in the neighborhood. But Isabella is starting to realize that she’s not just switching between houses, nicknames, and backpacks. She’s also switching between identities. When her parents both get engaged at the same time, Isabella doesn’t just feel divided, she feels ripped in two. What does it mean to be half white or half black? To belong to half mom and half dad? And if you’re only seen as half of this and half of that, how can you ever feel whole? It seems like nothing can bring Isabella’s family together again—until the worst thing happens. Isabella and Darren are stopped by the police. A cell phone is mistaken for a gun. And shots are fired.

Download or read book The Unsired written by Lee Duke and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throw away your crucifix, for it will not protect you, not in this chillingly original take on the vampire legend. Its a tale of bloody revenge that will expose the modern-day workings of the Vampire Clans and their constant war with those who would hunt them to extinction. Its a story that explains away the myths handed down through centuries of ignorance that keeps us from believing the horrifying truth about the real vampires living among us today. It is the winter of 1362 in what was then a small Lithuanian farming village on the edge of the Carpathian Mountains. A man and a child lay dead, their throats savagely ripped open and their bodies drained of blood. The mans pregnant wife, on hearing the news, goes into premature labor, giving birth to an underdeveloped baby boy. The infant is not expected to live, and the mother remains weak and sickly. The attending midwives leave the two of them alone to share what precious moments they have left together. The creature responsible for the attacks is an injured vampire being chased through the nearby forest by a band of determined Hunters. In his need for blood to repair both the injuries and replenish his strength, the vampire doubles back, losing the Hunters in the process. Reentering the village, hidden from sight by the raging storm and the dark of night, the vampire breaks into one of the small homes to feed upon the defenseless mother as she clutches her newborn baby protectively to her breast. In the course of his savage feeding, the vampire unknowingly allows some of his own blood and that of the mother to spill into the infants mouth. The blood feeds and nurtures the dying infant, turning him into something very, very different. This horrific act will set in motion a series of events that will leave a trail of death and destruction across seven centuries and three continents, before it finally reaches the new lands of America. One man, not quite human or of the undead, will stand between the two warring factions of Hunters and Vampires, a saviour to some and a deadly enemy to others, and this is his story. Like “Blade” meets “Bond,” directed by Tarantino.

Coming from very different backgrounds, the only thing they have in common is physical. What could possibly go wrong? A sapphic romance book. Have you read my other sapphic romance novels in the City General: Medic 1 series? Love Trauma Diagnosis Love Hot Response Trails of The Heart Healing of The Heart Reviews Hard to believe this is only this author's second sapphic romance book! Izzy and Cara meet and the drama begins. With this drama comes: decisions, secrets, lies, hot sex, family and friend reactions, and a lot of love! I really liked this book and I think you will too! Thanks Ruby, keep them coming! Liz Honstine It was totally hot, I wouldn’t have thought after reading the storyline that I would be touched that much. But that’s exactly what happened. I was drawn into the story almost from the first page and wasn’t able to put it down. It also made me cry sometimes but for me every book that does is a wonderful book and the author did a fantastic job. I honestly can’t believe that this only is her second sapphic novel. I will definitely look out for more from her. Conny This is the second lesbian romance book for this author. Enjoyed the first sapphic novel and this one is even better. Izzy is an up and coming heart surgeon who has no time for any thing but one night stands. Cara is a paramedic who is not looking for another relationship so soon after her last one failed. Life doesn't always give you what you want but will sometimes give you what you didn't know you wanted. This sapphic romance book has a lot to like: sweet sexy times, coming out hesitation, family love, a little angst and a little drama. I think you will enjoy this one, I sure did. Looking forward to reading more lesbian romance from this author. Thank you, Ruby, for sharing your words. The Old One Loved it! I loved the chemistry between Cara and Izzy. I loved that they both thought their hookup was a one time thing. As often as they were getting together and the fact that feelings had come to play, they both were in deep, fast. I loved how the story unwind and led to the heartbreaking yet heartwarming conclusion. Quickly becoming a fan of Ruby Scott. Gina
