Download or read book Introduction to Financial Models for Management and Planning written by James R. Morris and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2009-04-14 with total page 757 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A properly structured financial model can provide decision makers with a powerful planning tool that helps them identify the consequences of their decisions before they are put into practice. Introduction to Financial Models for Management and Planning enables professionals and students to learn how to develop and use computer-based models for financial planning. Providing critical tools for the financial toolbox, this volume shows how to use these tools to build successful models. Placing a strong emphasis on the structure of models, the book focuses on developing models that are consistent with the theory of finance and, at the same time, are practical and usable. The authors introduce powerful tools that are imperative to the financial management of the operating business. These include interactive cash budgets and pro forma financial statements that balance even under the most extreme assumptions, valuation techniques, forecasting techniques that range from simple averages to time series methods, Monte Carlo simulation, linear programming, and optimization. The tools of financial modeling can be used to solve the problems of planning the firm’s investment and financing decisions. These include evaluating capital projects, planning the financing mix for new investments, capital budgeting under capital constraints, optimal capital structure, cash budgeting, working capital management, mergers and acquisitions, and constructing efficient security portfolios. While the primary emphasis is on models related to corporate financial management, the book also introduces readers to a variety of models related to security markets, stock and bond investments, portfolio management, and options. This authoritative book supplies broad-based coverage and free access to @Risk software for Monte Carlo simulation, making it an indispensible text for professionals and students in financial management. Download or read book IT Financial Management written by Maxime Sottini and published by Van Haren. This book was released on 2017-01-01 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is now accepted that IT functions are a fundamental part of the competitive business model. Instead of simply offering services IT must 'create value' for the business. This practical title describes the strong financial skills that IT managers must have in order to support: Operations: Finance departments rely heavily on IT managers being able to identify, track and measure costs sometimes at a very granular level Budgeting: the very technical nature of IT operations means that budgeting can be more complex than many other areas Project Delivery: large technical project deliveries means that costs can be correspondingly complex to account for Business Modeling; pricing models rely heavily on IT managers skills and accuracy. Where one service supports many commercial offerings a strong model is needed to apportion costs appropriately Investment and business cases: a sound understanding of the financial contribution the IT assets make to the overall business is critical to gain support for ongoing investment This outstanding title covers the main financial concepts that managers need to be familiar with in order for IT to take its proper senior place as a contributor to the business. It assumes a basic level of financial understanding and builds on the techniques required almost daily; therefore it is overwhelmingly practical and based on real world scenarios. Not only are the techniques fully described but issues such as roles, implementation, daily management and even tooling are detailed.

Book Synopsis Financial Capability and Asset Building with Diverse Populations by : Julie Birkenmaier
Download or read book Financial Capability and Asset Building with Diverse Populations written by Julie Birkenmaier and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-07 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global economic recovery in the aftermath of the Great Recession has not been experienced equally: while the share of wealth owned by the richest 3% has grown, the share owned by the poorest 90% continues to decline, as reported by Oxfam in 2016. This wealth divide disproportionately affects racial and ethnic minority communities. This book underscores the importance of financial capability and asset building (FCAB) practice, policy and research during a period when vulnerable populations face increasingly difficult economic and financial realities. At the same time, retrenchment and privatization of government-sponsored social services have eroded the safety net available for families experiencing poverty or near-poverty conditions. The proliferation of products and services available from both formal and informal financial institutions highlights the need to promote FCAB to avoid and/or recover from financial difficulties, crises and poverty. The contributors to this volume disseminate findings from interventions designed to increase financial knowledge, financial management and financial access across several vulnerable populations, including immigrant communities. Further, they demonstrate the need for culturally sensitive FCAB service delivery, considering opportunities and barriers posed by past and current life situations, experiences and environments experienced by different populations. The book is aimed at policymakers, researchers and practitioners who assist financially vulnerable people. This book was originally published as a special issue of the Journal of Community Practice.

Book excerpt: To use a cliché, we live in a volatile uncertain complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world.Organizations simply cannot afford to try out new strategies in reality and correct mistakes, once they've occurred. The stakes are too high. Thus emerges the utility of this technique across functions like financial planning and risk management. Financial models help a business manager simulate the future and see the impact of their change, without risking costly setbacks of real world trials and errors.Mastering the art of financial modeling is imperative for those who want to enter the ultra-competitive world of corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, or equity research. Only those who excel (pun intended) in modeling early on are often the most successful long-term.The book will help readers dive deep into the vocabulary and the syntax, the art and science of financial modeling and valuation. Readers will be able to prepare/use existing models more competently, interpret the results and have greater comfort over the integrity and accuracy of the model's calculations.

Download or read book International Handbook of Financial Literacy written by Carmela Aprea and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-03-24 with total page 708 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Handbook presents in-depth research conducted on a myriad of issues within the field of financial literacy. Split into six sections, it starts by presenting prevalent conceptions of financial literacy before covering financial literacy in the policy context, the state and development of financial literacy within different countries, issues of assessment and evaluation of financial literacy, approaches to teaching financial literacy, and teacher training and teacher education in financial literacy. In doing so, it provides precise definitions of the construct of financial literacy and elaborates on the state and recent developments of financial literacy around the world, to show ways of measuring and fostering financial literacy and to give hints towards necessary and successful teacher trainings. The book also embraces the diversity in the field by revealing contrasting and conflicting views that cannot be bridged, while at the same time making a contribution by re-joining existing materials in one volume which can be used in academic discourse, in research-workshops, in university lectures and in the definition of program initiatives within the wider field of financial literacy. It allows for a landscape of financial literacy to be depicted which would foster the implementation of learning opportunities for human beings for sake of well-being within financial living-conditions. The Handbook is useful to academics and students of the topic, professionals in the sector of investment and banking, and for every person responsible for managing his or her financial affairs in everyday life.
