Book Synopsis Minimizing Operational Interruption During Filter Bed Surveillance by : Stephen Booth
Download or read book Minimizing Operational Interruption During Filter Bed Surveillance written by Stephen Booth and published by American Water Works Association. This book was released on 2006 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In conventional treatment plants, granular media filtration is the most important unit process for maintaining high quality drinking water. Filter condition surveillance is important for tracking the condition of filters. The objectives of this report are to identify, select, evaluate, and provide guidance on condition assessment methods that are less interruptive to normal filter operations than those currently used in the water industry. Methods that are less interruptive can be applied more frequently and require fewer resources. These methods will help utilities to determine the condition of their filters on a more regular basis and assist in achieving optimal filter performance.

This book was released on 2006 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary objective of this project was to determine differences in filter effluent water quality and media cleanliness between sand filters employing air scour and those employing surface wash. Discussed in detail are the findings that scour and surface wash systems performed similarly relative to filter effluent quality and filter cleanliness. The advantages of one system over another can be site-specific particularly in retrofit applications.
Download or read book Gravel Roads written by Ken Skorseth and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this manual is to provide clear and helpful information for maintaining gravel roads. Very little technical help is available to small agencies that are responsible for managing these roads. Gravel road maintenance has traditionally been "more of an art than a science" and very few formal standards exist. This manual contains guidelines to help answer the questions that arise concerning gravel road maintenance such as: What is enough surface crown? What is too much? What causes corrugation? The information is as nontechnical as possible without sacrificing clear guidelines and instructions on how to do the job right.
Book Synopsis Drinking Water Treatment, Chemical and Physical Elimination of Organic Substances and Particles by : Kader Gaid
Download or read book Drinking Water Treatment, Chemical and Physical Elimination of Organic Substances and Particles written by Kader Gaid and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2023-07-12 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, hundreds of millions of people drink contaminated water without knowing it. Yet water treatment technologies can effectively eliminate contamination and can supply urban and rural populations with safe drinking water in a secure way. For almost two centuries, the huge number of treatments available to guarantee water quality has grown alongside technological progress, the strengthening of industry norms and the reinforcement of consumer expectations. New treatment methods have been developed according to the advancement of knowledge and new sanitary regulations. This five-volume book sets out to clearly present the variety of treatments available along with their performance, limitations and conditions of use as well as ways to combine them to produce safe drinking water, which is a basic need essential to everyday life. The author shares his expertise acquired at Veolia, a company that is a world leader in water services and sanitation, desalination of sea water and the recycling of wastewater. Founded in France in 1853 to bring safe water to populations and to protect them from waterborne epidemics which ravaged cities, its history is intertwined with that of water treatment.
Book Synopsis Comprehensive Water Quality and Purification by :
Download or read book Comprehensive Water Quality and Purification written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-24 with total page 1537 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprehensive Water Quality and Purification, Four Volume Set provides a rich source of methods for analyzing water to assure its safety from natural and deliberate contaminants, including those that are added because of carelessness of human endeavors. Human development has great impact on water quality, and new contaminants are emerging every day. The issues of sampling for water analysis, regulatory considerations, and forensics in water quality and purity investigations are covered in detail. Microbial as well as chemical contaminations from inorganic compounds, radionuclides, volatile and semivolatile compounds, disinfectants, herbicides, and pharmaceuticals, including endocrine disruptors, are treated extensively. Researchers must be aware of all sources of contamination and know how to prescribe techniques for removing them from our water supply. Unlike other works published to date that concentrate on issues of water supply, water resource management, hydrology, and water use by industry, this work is more tightly focused on the monitoring and improvement of the quality of existing water supplies and the recovery of wastewater via new and standard separation techniques Using analytical chemistry methods, offers remediation advice on pollutants and contaminants in addition to providing the critical identification perspective The players in the global boom of water purification are numerous and varied. Having worked extensively in academia and industry, the Editor-in-Chief has been careful about constructing a work for a shared audience and cause

Purification approaches include traditional approaches that have lasted for several centuries without major modifications as well as new innovative approaches. This book covers a number of water quality issues relevant to either improving the existing treatment methods or to new advanced approaches. The book has 15 chapters distributed over four sections titled: [1] Management and Modeling of Treatment Systems, [2] Advanced Treatment Processes, [3] Treatment of Organic-contaminated Water, and [4] Advanced Monitoring Techniques.
