Book Synopsis How to Review Tax Returns by : Edward Mendlowitz Cpa
Download or read book How to Review Tax Returns written by Edward Mendlowitz Cpa and published by . This book was released on 2013-11 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reviewing tax returns is a key part of tax preparation. It also is an area vulnerable to major bottlenecks and backlogs. Part of the problem is that there is no information or training specifically for reviewers... until now. Inevitably, firms have more preparers than reviewers. The latter are highly skilled professionals who are more difficult to train or find. Therefore, you must consider ways to reduce review time, even at the expense of adding preparer time. This book discusses methods to reduce review time, establishes who should do the review, distinguishes between content and issues reviews, identifies specific items for the reviewers to check, and offers administrative procedures to facilitate the review process. Reviewers are not born complete and ready to go, they are developed. The problem with many firms is that they take a reasonably good tax return preparer, with above average tax knowledge and they make them a reviewer, either on purpose or by default. In many firms a partner doubles as a reviewer. In some cases this partner does not even have reasonable tax knowledge, but they do the job because it needs to get done. This is not acceptable and does not assure a good product. There is a need and hunger for information on how to more effectively review returns, and this book is the response. Read the book, reread sections, use it as a reference source. Make your review process more effective. - from the Introduction

Download or read book U.S. Master Depreciation Guide (2022) written by Wolters Kluwer Editorial and published by . This book was released on 2021-12-20 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Master Depreciation Guide offers tax and accounting professionals who work with businesses a one-stop resource for guidance in understanding and applying the complex depreciation rules to their fixed assets. This area is especially challenging, because bits and pieces of applicable information must be gathered from a maze of Revenue Procedures, IRS Tables, and IRS Regulations. These sources are frequently old and include some materials that may no longer be applicable. The U.S. Master Depreciation Guide pulls the pieces together, so practitioners can make sense of all the corresponding information and put the information into practice.
Book Synopsis Tax and Time by : Anthony C. Infanti
Download or read book Tax and Time written by Anthony C. Infanti and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2022-01-04 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How tax law perpetuates injustice but might instead be used as a powerful force for creating a more just and equitable society The relationship between tax law and society, Anthony C. Infanti asserts, is too often overlooked by those who work outside of the field of fiscal policy. Yet, the way a country collects and spends its revenue can be viewed as a quantifiable reflection of how a country sees itself, sending messages about both what it values now and what it aspires to be in the future. Tax and Time sheds light on two of the most misunderstood universal human experiences: time and taxes. Anthony C. Infanti asserts that time in tax law is the product of pure imagination and calls into question the world beyond time that we have created for ourselves. Written with clarity and powerful insight, Tax and Time demonstrates how the tax laws have been used to imaginatively manipulate time in ways that perpetuate economic and social injustice. With its social justice focus, the book brings a sorely needed critical perspective to technical tax policy discussions. Infanti calls for a systematic reexamination and reworking of the relationship between time and tax law, asserting that the power of the legal imagination to manipulate time in tax law can both correct past injustices and help us to envision—and actually work toward—a better and more just society.
