Book Synopsis Classical And Quantum Electrodynamics And The B(3) Field by : Lawrence Barr Crowell
Download or read book Classical And Quantum Electrodynamics And The B(3) Field written by Lawrence Barr Crowell and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001-05-11 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is well known that classical electrodynamics is riddled with internal inconsistencies springing from the fact that it is a linear, Abelian theory in which the potentials are unphysical. This volume offers a self-consistent hypothesis which removes some of these problems, as well as builds a framework on which linear and nonlinear optics are treated as a non-Abelian gauge field theory based on the emergence of the fundamental magnetizing field of radiation, the B(3) field.

Download or read book Selected Papers written by T.-D. Lee and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1986-01-01 with total page 890 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In these volumes, the most significant of the collected papers of the Chinese-American theoretical physicist Tsung-Dao Lee are printed. A complete list of his published papers, in order of publication, appears in the Bibliography of T.D. Lee. The papers have been arranged into ten categories, in most cases according to the subject matter. At the beginning of each of the first eight categories of papers, there is a commentary on the content and significance of all of the papers in the category. The two short final categories do not have any commentaries. The editor would like to thank Dr. Richard Friedberg for his assistance in the early stages of the editorial work on this project, as well as for writing commentaries on the papers of Categories III and IV. I would also like to thank Dr. Norman Christ for writing the commentary on the papers of Category VII. The assistance of Irene Tramm was in valuable in many aspects of preparing this collection, including locating copies of Lee's papers. GERALD FEINBERG List of Categories of T.D. Book Synopsis The Nuclear Fission Process by : Cyriel Wagemans
Download or read book The Nuclear Fission Process written by Cyriel Wagemans and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1991-09-20 with total page 636 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text provides a comprehensive review of knowledge regarding nuclear fission from both the purely scientific and practical points of view. Topics discussed include fission barriers, spontaneous fission, neutron-induced fission cross-sections, photon- and electron-induced fission, charged particle induced fission fragment angular momentum and ternary fission. The characteristics of other reaction products are also discussed. Contributed articles from several distinguished nuclear scientists guarantee adequate treatment of some of the specialized research fields included in the text. Intended primarily as an introduction to nuclear fission for graduate students, this book will also provide useful information for nuclear physicists involved with research or teaching.

This volume is a collection of lectures given at TASI 1994. These lectures provide an overview of many basic topics in the field, as well as specific discussions of the theme of this year's course, which involved the frontiers of the present Standard Model. The volume should be extremely useful to students and young researchers as it provides pedagogical presentations of important topics.
Book Synopsis Gauge Theories Of Strong, Weak, And Electromagnetic Interactions by : Chris Quigg
Download or read book Gauge Theories Of Strong, Weak, And Electromagnetic Interactions written by Chris Quigg and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-12-13 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents a coherent and elementary introduction to Gauge theories of the fundamental interactions and their applications to high-energy physics. It deals with the logic and structure of local Gauge symmetries and Gauge theories, from quantum electrodynamics through unified theories of the interactions among leptons and quarks. Many explicit calculations provide the reader with practice in computing the consequences of these theories and offer a perspective on key experimental investigations. First published in 1983, this text is ideal for a one-semester course on Gauge theories and particle physics. Specialists in particle physics and others who wish to understand the basic ideas of Gauge theories will find it useful as a reference and for self-study.
Book Synopsis Beyond the Quantum by : Theo M. Nieuwenhuizen
Download or read book Beyond the Quantum written by Theo M. Nieuwenhuizen and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Already Einstein could never see quantum mechanics as a complete theory. Nowadays, many researchers, including 't Hooft, view quantum mechanics as a statistical description of some underlying reality. The workshop Beyond the Quantum, organized in Spring 2006 at the Lorentz Center in Leiden, The Netherlands, was one of the first meetings completely devoted to physics that may need an explanation beyond quantum mechanics. A broad variety of subjects was covered. The present book reflects this.

Book Synopsis Edward Teller Centennial Symposium: Modern Physics And The Scientific Legacy Of Edward Teller (With Dvd-rom) by : Stephen B Libby
Download or read book Edward Teller Centennial Symposium: Modern Physics And The Scientific Legacy Of Edward Teller (With Dvd-rom) written by Stephen B Libby and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010-01-13 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings volume, for the symposium in honor of Edward Teller's 100th anniversary, focuses on Teller's scientific legacy. This legacy includes some of the most fundamental insights into the quantum behaviors of molecules, nuclei, surfaces, solid state and spin systems and plasmas. Many of these are “brand names” from the canon of 20th-century physics and chemistry, such as Gamow-Teller transitions, the Jahn-Teller effect, Goldhaber-Teller resonances, the Lyddane-Sachs-Teller relation, the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller equation of state, and the MR2T2 algorithm. All of these have had a profound and continuing impact on science — as has Teller's work on level crossing, diamagnetism, and plasma and statistical physics. The legacies of these discoveries are discussed in this volume, as is Teller's role in applied science and education.
