Book Synopsis Advances in Research on Fertilization Management of Vegetable Crops by : Francesco Tei
Download or read book Advances in Research on Fertilization Management of Vegetable Crops written by Francesco Tei and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-04-24 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a review of the recent literature on the key scientific and technical subjects of fertilization management in vegetable crops. In the last decades, research on fertilization management in vegetables was aimed at producing economical yields with reduced fertilizer inputs by the development and implementation of cropping systems, nutrient management approaches and crop varieties. Examples of the interventions in cropping systems included adequate crop rotations, inter-cropping, double cropping, and other strategies for a better soil organic matter management; nutrient management approaches included modelling, Decision Support Systems, crop nutritional status testing and precision agriculture technologies; amelioration of crop varieties has been directed toward higher nutrient/fertilizer use efficiency.
Book Synopsis Cropping Systems In The Tropics (Principles And Management) by : Sp Palaniappan
Download or read book Cropping Systems In The Tropics (Principles And Management) written by Sp Palaniappan and published by New Age International. This book was released on 2006 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Land And Soil Are Non-Renewable Natural Resources. The Nature Has Taken Thousands Of Years To Create An Inch Of Fertile Soil. Mismanagement Of This Precious Resource Is A Sin Against Nature And Will Play Havoc With The Fortunes Of The Country. Many Parts Of The Country Have Already Come To The Brink Of Devastation Through Injudicious Usages, Over Exploitation Of Natural Resources Resulting In Unsustainable Productivity Of Crops.Modern Concept Of Cropping System Is Based On The Principle Of Effective Utilization Of Soil Water, Nutrients And Light For Sustainable Crop Productivity. This Book Gives The Basic Principles And Broadly Accepted Definitions Terms Frequently Used In The Literature. A Short-Review Of The Cropping Systems Work Done In The Tropics, Particularly In India Is Presented. In This Revised Edition, Contents Of All The Chapters Have Been Revised To Give Orientation Towards Management Of Sustainable Crop Production Systems. A New Chapter On Farming System Is Also Added In Tune With The Latest Trends. Information Available On Perennial Crop-Based Cropping Systems, For Example High Density Multi Species Cropping Systems Involving Coconut And Arecanut Is Updated. The Various Management Aspects Of Sustainable Cropping Systems Are Discussed And The Research Methodology That Could Be Adopted Is Elucidated. Possible Future Lines Of Work Are Given In The Final Chapter. This Book Will Prove To Be Of Immense Value Not Only To The Research Workers But Also To The Teachers And Students And Above All Farmers And Individuals Who Are Desirous Of Improving Sustainable Crop Production Systems.

Book Synopsis Management of Nitrogen and Phosphorus Fertilizers in Sub-Saharan Africa by : Uzo M. Mokwunye

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Food security, one of the basic human rights, seems to be ever eluding the people of sub-Saharan Africa. With each occurrence of crop failure, agriculturalists around the world reawaken to the challenge of ensuring sta ble, adequate food production in the tropical African environments. The International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), with its mandate of alleviating food shortages through judicial use of fertilizers, formulated a program to study fertilizer use strategies for sub-Saharan Africa. With gener ous financial assistance from the International Fund for Agricultural Devel opment (IFAD), IFDC, in collaboration with the International Crop Re search Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IIT A), initiated a research project aimed at assessing means to remedy soil nutrient deficiencies that constrain food production in the humid, subhumid, and semiarid tropics of Africa. The results of this project were summarized during a workshop held in Togo, March 25-28, 1985; the proceedings of that meetings are found in this vol ume. The project established collaboration with numerous national programs that were responsible for much of the data collection. The data presented in Chapters 6 and 9 include much of this information.
