Book Synopsis Texas Travel Forecasting Annotated Bibliography by :
Download or read book Texas Travel Forecasting Annotated Bibliography written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This bibliography is part of an on-going research project between the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The bibliography has attempted to include all significant reports prepared by the Institute in support of urban transportation travel demand modeling and forecasting practice in Texas. An annotation is provided for those reports which still may be of interest to practitioners. Several reports which are now obsolete due to improvements in computer technology are included for completeness and historical interest. In addition several reports prepared by TxDOT which bear directly on travel demand modeling practice are included. The Department reports are not complete and users of this bibliography are requested to provide the Institute with copies of Department reports not presently included so that they may be included in future revisions. The bibliography is organized into six sections: trip generation, trip distribution, traffic assignment, travel surveys, air quality analysis, and overview. Reports are placed in each section according to the phase of modeling covered by the report. However, since the modeling phases are interdependent, most reports will cover aspects of more than one phase. Reports which clearly cover more than one modeling phase are placed in the overview section.

Book Synopsis Congestion Management Systems by : Robert A. Hamm
Download or read book Congestion Management Systems written by Robert A. Hamm and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report summarizes a literature review and interviews with many persons active nationally in congestion management. Telephone contact was made with all the state departments of transportation and numerous local agencies, metropolitan planning organizations and personal contacts throughout the country. These telephone contacts helped define the status of congestion management as of late 1992 and early 1993. The literature review found very little information. However, the interview process revealed that significant material was being developed in the first half of 1993. Most of this CMS related work was in response to state legislation (California and Washington), local recognition of congestion issues (Tucson) and anticipation of the ISTEA requirements relative to the management system. These interviews uncovered many documents that have been incorporated into this report. On site interviews were conducted with twenty local agencies and five state departments of transportation. The findings are summarized into specific recommendations on the measure of congestion, definition of the CMS network, monitoring the CMS network over time, and administration of the CMS Program. The report has several appendices which contain detailed information drawn from the site visits and other information which may be helpful to MPO's and state highway agencies. The final chapter of the report includes specific recommendations for FHWA and FTA to consider in the implementation of the CMS Program at the Federal level.
Book Synopsis Enhancing Arizona Department of Transportation's Traffic Data Resource by : James Sterling
Download or read book Enhancing Arizona Department of Transportation's Traffic Data Resource written by James Sterling and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) undertook a review and evaluation of the technologies used by the agency to process, store, manage, and disseminate traffic data. Traffic count information constitutes the most elemental data that ADOT uses for planning, analysis and monitoring, and yet often remains the least accessible within the agency. ADOT found that different functional departments often duplicated traffic counts, count information was often little understood, and hence not trusted, and consistent data were not accessible throughout ADOT -- there was not a single source where traffic data were collected and disseminated. Through the research ADOT identified a hierarchy of actions designed to more effectively manage this most basic resource, and to restore confidence among users. An implementation plan was developed and is now being acted upon within the department.
